Wash sale is manipulation of the market because it creates a wrong picture of the market health.

Basically you create an illusion of a healthy market with lots of volume (to dump on noobs and afterwards say goodbye forever).

of course, but which exchange will let it's matching engine be used add infinity for free? as such the wash trader will incur costs... And it gives an idea of what size they dispose...

what stop them to have two legal entity and still "wash" legally?

furthermore I find this discussion particuliarly funny in the context of fiat printed to the friends of the fed...

anyway, thanks for repeating their mantras.

Its quite common and exchanges do that themself, because they profit from it too.

There is basically no way to stop it - you can just make the cost higher for the manipulators.

this is exactly what I am saying... or it's the exchange doing it on itself like you says, or it will cost the washer...

anyway good luck washing on https://bisq.network/  (a true real decentralized p2p exchange using escrow)... it's so expensive Smiley !

but I think it is almost impossible to wash trade on a modern exchange... when you have quantic predictive algos ready to take trade in sub nano seconds... it's hard to be certain that the wash trade will be cleared with one self... ehehe... who knows what "artficial" lag the matching engine can introduce... because they all say that they self regulate and their code is private...

trading on a non open sourced engine is positive proof of advance gulliblity...

HFT with bots who have synchronized clocks and near zero latency Tongue

I dont believe DEX will help against wash trading.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Holy shit.

Mark Karpeles doing AMA in Reddit (ex-CEO of Mt Gox):  https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/89o16y/im_mark_karpelès_exceo_of_bankrupt_mtgox_ask_me/

Well, that was impressive. I thought the guy was a scumbag of the worse type.

I hope he can go with civil rehabilitation and that wallet of doom can be dispersed back to Mt.Gox users.

another roach that didn't open sourced his matching engine...

if you don't own the private key, those cryptos aren't yours...

we need faster open sourced DEX... and ruins all centralized exchange !

Do you think that the fed would raising rates if it was hitlary the protector of the rapists, the destroyers of america, that was president? I guess no...

don't forget... soon, the currency of the enemy will get crushed by the yuan, and then finally once the great purge will be over, the dollar 2.0 can emerge... there it could be threatening for btc... but I do think that americans prefer to see their daughters being raped by fiatfedster pundits... sad, but true. Hans, don't agree... neither ruskies... more honor? dignity? less brainwashing? less weakness? real americans? against the little fakes just good a bombing mud huts in the valley of afg?

This is what misery looks like.  Tera has sworn off Bitcoin for life.  Rosewater tried to jump off a bridge but couldn’t find it. JJG only wrote two paragraphs.  Bawb is too drunk to post today. Jimbo can’t find his teeth. Hairy lost a stop to a bull trap because he’s too dumb to put it above the line. Jojo got nostalgic for hockey riots. Elwar visited somewhere dangerous.  The trolls came out.    And a cartoon line is going into a cartoon dungeon.

I rather hope this is capitulation as y’all sure are cranky old men.

Come on, don't be so hard on all of us (and on yourself too)! You lost your stop? I guess you actually mean you only made a small profit rather than a bigger one. Next time remember - if your hedging short doesn't hurt a bit at times, you're probably being too conservative.

As for the others, there are different readings of the situation - uh ok well, maybe not for Rosewater  Grin

Tera has put away so much that she's unwilling to keep going through the emotional stress, at least for a while. JJG has been celebrating on one Piña too many, so he couldn't give a ratt's ass about building a few more walls of text. Bawb is celebrating too, so he took a break. Jimbo is hard as a rock, surviving jungle and dentists before he greets us all one fine morning. Jojo has always been a nice troublemaker guy, so what were you expecting? Elwar has been at it for a while. As for the trolls, it's just that we're bored with this slow bleeding phase - most of us have seen it all already - so we occasionally waste some time and energy feeding them a bit too much - even if the zoo is disseminated with signs warning visitors not to.

Capitulation? Maybe in due time. Not yet, however. All we can say to the Grim Reaper is "not today". Same with capitulation thoughts now.

It's hard to feel sorry for him, but for some reason I almost do.  He has serious anger problems.  Also, this is definitely the result of some serious parenting errors.

What an absolute nozzle he is.

If that jumps out a bit in the next 10 years, it'll be a double-bottom and by 2050, it'll probably start the recovery, LOL.

Even you seem to be using GDAX, and that has 0% fees for makers, and you seem to be using that kind of incentive - and what if they raise their fees to 1%, you going to change your behavior and perhaps discuss the situation, no?

I'd re-evaluate the landscape, sure. And I might change. I might even discuss it. What I wouldn't do is ask a silly question like 'why are they raising their rates?'.

Quote
the fact that they made the increase in their trading fees does not mean that they are either correct in their assumptions and/or goals or that their change will achieve their goals (as you seem to imply that whatever the fuck they do, they are smart and they will be successful in reaching their unstated goals..

Not exactly. I'm just saying that they have a better viewpoint on the matter than do either you or I.

Quote
.. whatever, this is not exactly about them, when we are talking about ourselves and our decisions about whether to use their services and/or how to change our practices, if we choose to do so.

While that may have been your implied subtext, that is explicitly NOT what I replied to. What I demonstrably replied to was your 'why would they raise rates?' If you didn't want a possible answer, why did you ask the question?

Quote
You would rather talk about how Bcash ...

Hmm. Which of the two of us injected BCH into the conversation? Somewhat telling, that.

They added an extra grace period for claiming until 14th February, then kept all the unclaimed coins for themselves (including Satoshi's million).

To even begin claiming you had to give them an email address and a mobile phone number. After you supplied that information they wanted even more intrusive details from you.
