okex has published a note that they handle UBTC from now on. Beside on ub.com they published the wallets, source and everything.
What else do you want ? Looks like a grand opening to me.
I'm thinking of the second distribution. I'm impressed anyone got any considering the evil minds behind it. I'm also impressed at how consistently priced all the forks are. The two I got rid were both in the 0.01 range as is UBTC. Actually ... I was thinking about this. There are plenty of asks stepped to 0.02 0.03 0.04 etc... and a whole buch of bids at 0.01 ... I think people are taking position waiting for the first move, i.e. a big pump ; maybe we have the chance to see it before it actually happens ? Unfortunately as the electrum wallet failed to work properly, I need another 40 hours or so to get in that game Should we recheck our addresses? Do we have distribution? huh? I don't get what you mean. UB made a snapshot of the blockchain at block 498777 ... whatever you had in the chain at that height should be there. Mine are.

No. At the time of the fork they stole all mine. There was supposed to be a phase 2 distribution.

There was a very short phase 2 distribution (after which they stole the majority of coins). https://www.ub.com/project/getPhase 2 Final round of Distribution of UBTC The second and final distribution phase of UBTC for the Bitcoin community will end around noon (UTC +8) on 3rd January 2018.

I should have got in on phase 2 just under the wire. Don't think the distribution will take place until the 24th.

I'm not a computer scientist kind of guy and I don't like maths. My strengths lies in other areas of specialization. I have always tried to do and study things I like, rather then pursuing a traditional career and that have lead me on to many interesting paths, crypto being one of them.
However, when I get a bank card I don't give a rat's ass how it actually works, and the bank doesn't tell me either. They just tell me how to use it. The same goes for just about everything else i buy, the TV salesman doesn't tell me how the TV works, just how to use it et cetera. But when it comes to crypto it's always the other way around, every thread and info page talks ad nauseam about how it works, and very little about how to use it. I for example no nothing at all about how to use segwit, and yet segwit have been talked about for ages. And I consider myself fairly intelligent. Just imagine then, when average Joe comes to bitcoin and is told to use segwit to lower fees. That won't tell him anything. Why can't core make a information page that tells you how to use it? And make sure that page is seen among the noobs, and for that matter oldies like me without a degree in computer science. Why do they and everybody else have to talk non stop about incomprehensible technicalities? I don't give a fuck about the underlying technology, I want to know how to use it.
^This. This is how I got my insecure non-techie-inclined friends into BTC. I reminded them that they've used plastic for years without ever a thought as to how it works. Doesn't matter if you understand it or not. And, yup. Now I have to teach them to use it.

And by the way, can you make a segwit paper wallet? And if so how? That is one of the things that core should tell people if they want adoption.
This has just summed up exactly why the average person would never actually use bitcoin. If you try to explain the 'how to use it' and 'what does it do', it will not offer any advantages over fiat/visa and only drawbacks. The only advantages come either if you are a criminal or if you are a trader/investor/gambler. There isn't any use case for the average person except making a profit, which is why everyone is in now.

Yeah ok, they stole mine too, I was just mislead by bugs in the wallets, which display funds for some reason.

or if you know even vaguely how the money scam works. This has no effect on the average person other than trying to beat inflation which you can do with any type of investment such as real estate. Youve explained to someone why they should invest their money instead of holding fiat, but not why it has to be bitcoin, and again you are only appealing to investors and not users. The average person living paycheck to paycheck doesnt even care about inflation and using bitcoin would be a loss for them. I think your only pitch left becomes something like 'well dont you want to be part of this plot to usurp the government and start ww3?' - again losing interest.
