very good point, just walking back the graph shows where the MA likely moves next, especially without any strong trend at present to counter.    There is the possibility it breaks above when we are constricted in range like this and that brings us a positive upto 10k or so.   Indicators shouldnt determine price like that but 200DMA is very heavily referenced so far as I know, it can change the mood no doubt

Forget 200, price is so flat the 50 day average is capping prices currently very consistently

Gold is supposed to go sideways, it does nothing with zero growth so the price should be flat but if anything I'd say it jumps around quite alot bearing that in mind.   In theory people boast about how an ounce of gold buys the same thing over massive amounts of time, an ounce should buy a fine tailored suit was stated as true in Shakespeare's day and thats one way to judge prices now in theory.  

Theres also reference to an acre of corn in ancient Egypt and all sorts but in this value gold has over time is the base purpose of gold.  When price changes and its sold in dollars, then the gold bug will say the dollar changed not the gold and in this case we see dollar worth less over decades which going on wages is likely true.

They've gone off the shelf I think, afaik it should be made to measure which is not very common and of course references wages and the economy at that time in the price.  Cant say I own one of those so I wouldnt know the pricing exactly but in many cities its in the region

I was at dinner tonight with someone from europe and someone from thailand.

When referring to the price of something I used the price in bitcoin and everyone was able to understand easier than had I converted it to one of our home currencies.

And imaginary, valueless shitcoins are a complete non-factor compared to physical metals in the endgame.

The physical part is an understandable perspective.  But, what value does gold really have?  If the endgame is a SHTF scenario lead is far more valuable than gold.  You can't feed gold or silver to your children.  If grain is scarce I'm not trading any of mine for your precious metals. 

If the shit never does hit the fan, and in the current global socioeconomic climate value is subjective, and gold is no more impressive than a paper wallet.  It wouldn't be any more bizarre to trade bird's heads for tulip bulbs if we lived in a society that put value on those items.

A diverse investment portfolio is the most practical approach.

I agree with DireWolfM14 here. If SHTF, the most valuable resources until order is restored will be food (and ways to acquire/grow/raise food), potable water, and fuel. I would add shelter but I don't know that shelter would necessarily be lacking. The basic necessities will be the means for barter. Here, I'll trade you 3 pounds of meat for 3 gallons of water. Or, here's 20 lbs of grain for 5 gallons of gas.

If there arises an interim order (some community is achieved through communal self-sufficiency), there may be some call for a medium token of exchange, but while a precious metal might be favored, honestly pretty much anything can serve as a token of exchange as long as all the interested parties agree on its value. It could be crow's heads, for all I know.

I find it somewhat amusing the depths to which this thread has sunk due to the lack of volatility in the BTC market. A remarkable obsession with hats. I suppose even an xhomerx hat (properly authenticated, of course) could also function as a medium of exchange if SHTF.

and yes BTC is extremely UNvolatile @the moment, so you guy's must know by now .... when BTC is this boring than its just going for sports and to the movies for this evening.
