We are putting in a pool and will build a pool house. Now that I think about maybe should relocate it to the far side of the pool house which will be completely separate from the house.
Reserve power is a very nice thing for a house, not sure if you need a whole powerwall though. I've been running a power station in an outside shed on my property for about 20 years now, the core of it is 4 150ah VRLA (Valve regulated lead acid) batteries with a 1kw 24 volt inverter and 1kw of solar panels. About 5-6kw of power, 1kw peak draw, a 10 year life span on the batteries, and they will never catch fire..

In the event of a power failure I can switch to the shed manually for the fridge (300w, 25% duty cycle), a few lights, and most importantly cell phone and internet service (another 20-30 watts) and a coffee maker (70w for a few minutes). In a multi-day power outage the priority is keeping the fridge running and having fresh coffee. Can also run a smaller microwave oven if I need to warm some food up.

Solar panels can top off about 4kw of power a day, giving me around 9-10kw of power. With 2kw for the fridge this leaves me a fair bit of extra power for incidentals or a day or two of rain. Longest I have run it was 3 days when power really went out and it was a life saver.

Not too complex, worth it.

The Dude doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would ever switch up his beer. Maybe they didn't have Oat Sodas at such a fancy looking place. I also don't think whatserface would order a beer either. She looks more like a mild cocktail drinker.

The entire commercial almost threw me into a disgusted, outraged state, over the absurdity of the entire production.

 Carrie drinks Cosmos.
 The Dude drinks White Russians.
 End of discussion.

On a personal note, I'm pained by Jeff Bridges and Horseface (less so) whoring themselves out for a fucking beer commercial.

"I like money" from "Idiocracy" immediately springs to mind.

 Whatever.

I know... The whole commercial was a giant letdown. So much build-up for so much disappointment.

Idiocracy was an amazing film (premise-wise) and may still be a foretelling of things to come. One of my favorite Terry Crews roles. He's great in a lot of films.

TLDR, perhaps insiders really did know something all along, it just wasnt about Bakkt or an ETF. Perhaps Globalcoin is much more beneficial for Bitcoin than both of these combined.  Cheesy

I think everything is contributing to the rise now. Bakkt (Microsoft and Starbucks), an ETF, Facebookcoin, JP Morgan Coin, Lightning payments in Cash app, the trade war.

+1 merit for the Billions reference

I beg to differ: it is not good for bitcoin at all. It would have been if they used btc, of course.
Now, instead of talking about Bitcoin story, all mass media would keep talking about is how facebook is "improving" bitcoin.
In reality: what exactly would support this stable coin for millions of people to use? I don't think that banks would be happy with this.
And governments? This would essentially mean facebook minting currency, which they obviously can't.
One interesting side effect: this would either kill XRP completely or banksters would run to it in lieu of facebookcoin.

Here (replace E-coin with facebookcoin):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ee-cHbCI0s

I never really understood why people thought XRP would be adopted by banks. Banks have enough money and influence to create their own version. And would not make some no name CEO of XRP super wealthy.

+1 merit for Mr robot reference

Tone Vays and Roger Ver section of Malta Blockchain Summit 2019 - Live Stream

They get into a pissing match about transaction fees. Roger says that you have to spend $3 for a BTC transaction fee, which makes it impractical for sending $5 worth of BTC... Vays says he hasn't paid more than a dollar for a fee in the last 9 months. He ends up sending Roger $5 of BTC with a 1 cent fee. Roger says if it confirms in the next 24 hours he'll donate $10,000 to Vays' charity of choice. It confirms in 10 hours.

Wonder if Roger held up his promise...

https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/bsohgn/pay_up_roger/

tldr: tx was added manually by slush and bet was end of day local time not 24 hours. if i got it right.

I thought that might be the case, or that it was RBF and accelerated... They shouldn't have intervened really. I received a tx the other day with a 0.78 sat/byte fee and it took about 18 hours to confirm.

-invested in butterfly labs or other vaporware
-believed the bcash lies
-believed in the ETH flippening
-etc, etc

We’re only just over 8k so I’d say the chances of going below 8k ever again are quite high.

Go 8k bitcoin Smiley

So far, $8k is holding decently well.  Will be interesting to see if the weekly plays out as green or red.

We have about 33 hours before the weekly candle closes, and it looks like we need to be slightly above $8,200 for the weekly candle to come out as green.  Gonna be a nail biter?

I was not an early adopter, but I was close.  I'm sure a lot of what you suggest above would have applied to me.

On Wednesday I bought two Costco pizzas, they cost me BTC0.003 (actually, it was the equivalent in fiat, but whatever.)  Costco pizzas are always good.

I don't know about other Americanos but to me Budweiser tastes like salt water.

The conventional 'murrican domestic lagers are revolting, watered down cans of piss.

They are like the altcoins of beer, they purport to be beer but are not.  How  Eberhard Anheuser, Adolphus Busch, and Adolph Kuhrs foisted this scam on a freedom loving people I will never know.

For a craft house, any Ninkasi product is a superlative choice.  For a mid size house I find the Lagunitas line quite credible.

Natural gas to be replaced with heatpump too.

If a full Powerwall doesn't get you through the night you need to seriously look at your "base load".
[...]

At night I have:
12W 12V outdoor LED lighting (9 x 1.2W running from a single high-efficiency adapter) [edit: corrected]
4W internet modem/wifi (with all status lights disabled)
18W freezer, 75W with about 25% cycle time.
10W fridge, 65W with about 15% cycle time.
8W standby central heater (I turn this off in the summer unless I need warm tap water)
5W phone charger (10W for half a night)
Total: 57W night-time usage.
a single 13.5 kWh Powerwall would last a me a 236 hour night.

nice setup.

my geothermal (ground based) heatpump/DHW system (3.5 ton) in winter is about ~3000 watts flat out (stage 2) during the night if the temps get near/below 0 F.

in the summer with it in AC mode (with desuperheater for DHW assist) only calling for stage 1 (~2000 watts) it will cycle slow enough even with 90s F at night for a powerwall to maybe last the night.. havent run the numbers but i do want a power wall with a sun tracking system.

so being 100% off grid at night will be hard for me.

EDIT geo system set to hold house 71 F day/night/summer/winter
