Without the "no homo" disclaimer, it's automatically gay by default.

Oh shit! I haven't said 'no homo' once after telling my wife I love her!

WHAT MUST SHE THINK!?

A first millionaire loses love for the Industry ..

Jared Kenna

Source: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-10-03/an-early-bitcoin-millionaire-loses-his-love-for-the-industry?srnd=cryptocurrencies

It is really sad that someone with so much potential is disappointed because technology is not the main thing, from a point of view the bitcoin market has developed further.

Kenna's a class act. I had funds at both incarnations of TradeHill. Each time they closed, I was promptly made whole.

Sad to see him disillusioned. Though I don't know what he'd expect. Bitcoin will still change the world for the better. But to do so will require mass adoption. Mass adoption requires speculative early interest. Whatevs.

Well, at least he has found another passion.

Call me a cynic but it sounds like he cashed out too early and now he’s pissed off.  Just like when Mike Hearn rage quit.

Quote
Kenna, who is 37, said he owns only half a Bitcoin, valued at about $4,000. He used to hold thousands, initially bought for cents on the dollar, and headed TradeHill Inc.-- the U.S.’s first cryptocurrency exchange -- handling a quarter of all global Bitcoin trades.

Quote
Kenna has gotten out partly involuntarily: He accidentally erased 800 Bitcoins (valued at about $6.5 million now) from his computer in 2010, and then lost millions of dollars’ worth to a hack in 2016.

But fuses cost money.....

uh, yeah...

especially when they blow and a whole bank of miners goes down for no reason...duh

A .22 fits.  No more blown fuses.

You know a Darwin was awarded, based upon the proximate cause being that little trick, right?

There’s some quality in there:

Quote
(27 Nov 2018, Arizona) The Buckeye Police Department reports that a man accidentally shot his own sausage while shopping in the meat aisle at Walmart. Arizona law does not require a permit (nor a holster for that matter) to carry a firearm, so our hero felt free to carry his piece "commando-style" (unholstered) beneath his waistband. When the unholstered gun drifted down into his jeans, he reached in and pulled the trigger while repositioning his weapon. This loose cannon's low hanging fruit didn’t have a chance.

'A class act'?
7 March 2012 Tradehill, at the time the second largest Bitcoin exchange closes down, claiming Dwolla stole its customer funds and threatens to sue. Dwolla demures, suit goes nowhere. Jared Kenna makes secret payments to select users. Partners with Jonathan Ryan Owens (see above) creating 20 Moves, which somehow magically has the capital to start real estate development in San Francisco.

Total loss : 200k BTC (estimate viii)
emphasis mine

Trouble is people who got scammed ages ago just melt away disillusioned, and history gets changed to mere anecdote (at the kindest reading).

I read about that guy yesterday.  The first thing that occurred to me is that he's shorting bitcoin, and wants the price to drop even more before going all in.

A third of millennials already prefer bitcoin over stocks.

Why?

They were born into a world of historically massive wealth inequality, corruption in politics, and bill of $246 Trillion in global debt that the last generation dined and dashed on.

Bitcoin is a means of protest.

If only that guy put some on cold storage and forgot about it. Losing 800 even back in 2010, he should have gotten it back or bought back even.

Oh, I'm back in DT. Awesome.. I didn't even realize I was kicked out.

You would have still been DT2. theymos only wants 100 DT1 at any time so I think there’s around 111 who qualify for it atm which means 11 (atm) rotate out & 11 rotate back in.

I got booted out for a month & then got rotated back in.

It’s something like the above any way.

Just because I am sad and I want to nitpick a little bit:
if you are out one month, you are not guaranteed to be back in next following month.
You can be out for two consecutive months (it already happened to poor Babo).
But yeah, that is the idea

EDIT: Thanks for the merit LFC! Oh MIC, 80 again! micgoossens edit that message!
