I looked it up and its based on SMS messaging, which means the bitcoin is actually custodied by a third party service and bitcoin "credit" is transacted from phone to phone.

The concept was actually first executed with M-PESA in 2007 (using a local African currency rather than BTC of course):

You don't need to have $800 billion or be a banker for such speculation - everyone who knows how to use their own brain assumes that the next ATH will be at least x2 of the previous one, which means that we hope that the price will reach at least $140 000.
