You know what? This is good news.
Gox didn't eat the money.

Someway this situation will be fixed.
If any of this is true (read from the seventh counterclaim on the end of page 39 through the twelfth which ends on page 47), Peter Vessenes stands out as the worst scammer in the history of Bitcoin.  You can forget about small the fish like Pirate.  Peter Vessenes stole the deposits.  The chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation is a thief.  CoinLab is in liquidation.  The money are in Peter Vessenes' pockets now.  No wonder he is smiling on the picture on bitcoinfoundation.org.

MtGox has had unusal high income lately due to cross-currency trades which makes a 2.5% extra fee for currency conversion.  I'm sure MtGox will cover the remaining ~2 million USD (profit from April to August deducted) eventually, and this is not what limits withdrawals.  There are currently about 14 million USD in bids in the order book.

Yep, bids that in great part are not backed up by money in their bank. I'm sure they are also spending A LOT on lawyers and such. This shit (DHS and regulators pushing, Coinlab suing and stealing, etc.) is not cheap.

I always defended Gox, but honestly: this is looking bad. They are blatantly lying about what's causing the delays and how they are handling withdrawals, and now we find out there is an additional $5M hole. If you add up that to the other seizures you see they have a liquidity problem. I just hope people remains calm and this does not trigger a run.

I know I'm feeling nervous about my SEPA withdrawal delayed for 3 weeks now.

I think that most of us have their horses ready on the sideways if that happens.
Cheap bitcoins? Yeah!

My anger against what is wrong in the Bitcoin community is productive:

So does Vessenes still have an executive position at the Bitcoin Foundation? Or is he just a standard member and Matonis has taken over his role(s)?

He is still the chairman. People who have been paying up to 20% in the past months to be able to withdraw their hard-earned money can in part thank this guy for it.

MtGox deposits stolen - Vessenes not affected.

Ah OK. And let me guess, even though there is an imminent election at the BF, Vessenes is not affected by that either?

That doesn't look like a mug shot to me. Has there been a warrant for his arrest issued?

Something doesn't seem right. Mark could and should have gone public about this long ago.

When dealing with million dollar lawsuits, lawyers will often advice you to keep your mouth shut and let them do the talking and writing.  Wrong wording and badly formulated accusations will hurt your case, and in this case the words can have a huge impact on the market as well.  The words in this document probably cost quite a few dollars each.

Sjå https://bitmynt.no for veksling av bitcoin mot norske kroner.  Trygt, billig, raskt og enkelt sidan 2010.
I buy with EUR and other currencies at a fair market price when you want to sell.  See http://bitmynt.no/eurprice.pl
Warning: "Bitcoin" XT, Classic, Unlimited and the likes are scams. Don't use them, and don't listen to their shills.

I think you guys are getting aheads of yourselves. I agree that Peter does look like a scumbag, just judging from his mug shot. However, that does not mean he is one.

I have heard nothing but bashing Gox here so far in this thread, but nobody has really given solid evidence and facts to support their claims since June--just random self-proclaimed accusations. Instead, this thread is just a big flood of rage posts and conspiracy theories. That renders this whole thread almost utterly pointless, unorganized, and not very helpful to people like me who are looking for factual, reliable, and organized information.

I'm going to initiate a withdrawal here soon within the next couple of days. I'm just selling off the last bit of bitcoins in my Gox account first. Once I do, I will follow up to let you know how it goes. The fact is, many people simply use bad, unreliable banks and banks that are under constant legal heat for various reasons. I handle internationals transactions all the time at my bank from various countries. I am willing to bet I'll see the funds within a few weeks.

Unlike the nonsense I've read so far, when I post back with my results, I'll provide detailed information about my transaction including my bank, total withdrawal amount, and any other information that I feel would help others. I won't boast vague accusations no matter what the outcome is.

Today is the 2 month anniversary of my first fiat withdrawal. Still not happening. I'm seriously thinking of taking up the 5% haircut manual withdrawal option. If anyone has a solid reason for me not doing it, I'd like to hear about it

Where is that 5% manual withdrawal option??

Good luck. The only way to get money out of Gox to USA is with the special 5% fee transfer.

On top of that.  CoinLab (aka Peter Vesseness – I nominated him for a scammer tag here on the forum months ago) stole even more than the DHS seized later.  Read it.
This man has done more damage to Bitcoin than anyone possibly could have until now, yet he is chairman to the Bitcoin Foundation. Congratulations to him.

You serious? The one behind the Coinlab theft is in the bitcoin foundation? A real gangster. What's his nametag here? I'll give him a scammer tag too.

Yes, someone should do a reddit post to see what's the general answer to this.

The Bitcoin community is strange. No articles on Forbes, /. or other media. Such a media storm would force them to come up with a coherent answer.

A guy from Norway just did a SEPA EUR withdrawl, only took a few days, according to his post on the Scandinavian sub forum.
