Does this have anything to do with the parent company TIBANNE Co. Ltd.?
I believe Tibanne is the mother company of forever.net (and MtGox, back in its days of glory)... That "Dear Valued Customers" though... Priceless... Priceless, yes. I mean is that an indication that TIBANNE will also go bankrupt?

https://www.kalyhost.com/ child of TIBANNE is still active. I connect this move of M.K. in some way to avoid returning loans as Kobayashi informed he will take legal ways against M.K. to return his loans... I can think that they had adviced him to close eveything down in order to show damages and this way will not be able to pay back anything... it's just my thought as i said before...

keeping almost 24/7 an eye on mtgox news i jsut found This tweet from Olivier Janssens
"Former mtgox employee who forwarded the death threat emails might have forged them. Investigation ongoing"
The previous tweet was:
"I have black on white proof of Mark Karpeles making multiple death threats against an ex-employee. So does Japanese police. "
now can anyone put the puzzle together??? what are they hiding from us???

I guess the only sane option is to "follow the money" and have patience. Let's hope this won't get too far though, it's getting really frustrating and I have the feeling that everybody is stalling in order "to put this behind us"...

This article, posted March 2014, is outdated about the alleged "hack", but has some interesting trivia about MtGOX: http://www.wired.com/2014/03/bitcoin-exchange/I wasn't aware that Jesse Powell, who founded Kraken, was a close friend of Karpelès and Ver; so much that he rushed to help them after MtGOX was hacked for the first time, in 2011. The article doesn't say or even imply that Powell was a close friend of Karpeles. What it says is: After Mt. Gox was hacked for the first time in summer of 2011, a friend asked Powell to help out, and soon, the San Francisco entrepreneur found himself on a plane to Tokyo. After landing, he rushed to Shibuya station, where he was met by his friend, Roger Ver, one of the world’s biggest bitcoin supporters who just happened to live across the street from Mt. Gox.
Is this 2011 ^ event the same event as this one?: Remembering the period when Mt. Gox had been taken offline by denial of service attacks, Shrem recounts Karpeles' reaction to the issue: “Remember Mt Gox went down the first time and it was like, a Friday, and Roger and Jessie were helping him out and Roger's [says] to Mark 'what time do you want me come in tomorrow?' like Saturday morning to help”
“Mark's [says] 'no problem, we'll deal with it on Monday', and they're like 'you're shut down, the customers think all of the money's lost, you've been hacked, everyone's flipping out, people have you know [have] hits out on you, you want to go back to work on Monday? He just didn't care about anything”. http://cointelegraph.com/news/113376/charlie-shrem-mark-karpeles-wanted-to-take-the-weekend-off-after-mt-gox-collapsed

As others have pointed out, Jesse Powell was not a friend of Mark, but a friend of Roger Ver, who was a friend of Mark.

He just didn't care about anything”. http://cointelegraph.com/news/113376/charlie-shrem-mark-karpeles-wanted-to-take-the-weekend-off-after-mt-gox-collapsedYes, of course. You're right, I should have read the Wired article in full, it matches Shrem's account of what happened at the time: Ver and Powell were set to work through the weekend, but when they arrived at the company’s tiny office that Saturday, there was a surprise. Mark Karpeles had decided to take the weekend off. The two volunteers were flabbergasted. “I thought that was completely insane and demoralizing for the rest of the team,” Powell remembers. On Monday, Powell says, Karpeles did return to work, but he spent part of the day stuffing envelopes. “I was like: ‘Dude why are you doing this? You can do this anytime. The site is offline. You need to get the site online.'” As others have pointed out, Jesse Powell was not a friend of Mark, but a friend of Roger Ver, who was a friend of Mark.
Maybe they became friends? They met again for lunch a month before MtGox went down. Let's call them buddies? Powell last met with Karpeles in January, before news of the latest hack broke. He now runs a competitor to Mt. Gox called Kraken. They had lunch in Tokyo, and Karpeles seemed unworried about Gox’s future. He was excited about his Bitcoin Cafe. “It was probably some light for them in a very dark world of dealing with banks and customer complaints all day,” Powell says. “I’m sure that Mark has been very stressed for a long time and probably the Bitcoin Cafe was a fun project.” But now that world is even darker.

I believe that we will have some movement on Gox on the next few days/weeks. A year has passed and everybody seems to be aware of what happened, except for the people who lost money over this.

(“MtGox”), for repayment of the loan receivables that MtGox has against TIBANNE, repayment from TIBANNE has not yet been made. Accordingly, on January 29, 2015, I applied for commencement of the bankruptcy proceeding for TIBANNE, as a creditor thereof, with permission from the Tokyo District Court. In response, on January 30, 2015, the Tokyo District Court issued an order of commencement of the bankruptcy proceeding for TIBANNE. I, as the Bankruptcy Trustee of MtGox, will continue to make efforts to take necessary measures with respect to collection of receivables due from affiliated companies, etc."

Damn! I didn't mean TODAY!!! ;Dc What "affiliated companies, etc"? Kobayash could be talking here about collecting those 650,000 missing BTC from some previously undisclosed affiliate, or else he means getting those $26 million in bank deposits back that have vanished. MK said on Reddit that he couldn't talk about what really brought down Mt Gox, because he had signed a NDA. Since the Tokyo police have already concluded that virtually all the bitcoins disappeared through insider fraud, who exactly does this NDA protect that he claims to have signed, or is this all B.S.? Is there some entity out there that now holds some, or all, of the missing coins and bank deposits upon whom Kobyashi can collect? In that case, perhaps MK is worried that Kobayashi will enforce the NDA if he leaks about it? Kobayashi should come clean about exactly who this holder is, if one exists, as well as the last Mt. Gox addresses of the missing bitcoin. If he could be one to stretch the meaning of words a tad, with all his talk of "affiliated companies, etc.", then he could be making himself party to a hoax of monumental proportions.

What "affiliated companies, etc"? It may be an incorrect translation from the Japanese. He must be referring to Tibanne and the Bitcoin Cafe, which could be said to be "connected" or "related" to MtGOX. "Affiliated" (from the Latin for "child") means "subordinated to" or "owned by"; the subtle distinction may have been missed by the translator.
