HHTT was having problems, Slush *is* having problems. Maybe it's just a better technology?

HHTT was in red, it had no technical problems, AFAIK.

spiccioli

True. Though I was having problems connecting a few weeks ago. That was pretty minor, however.

The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

Is it wise to use p2pool with only 11mh/s? I'm not getting anything for a few days now.

It seems strange to me that your Best share is 0.

With 11MH/s current estimated payout is  0.000616424026081 BTC per day.

However, I think that requires that you find at least one share every 24 hours. The current share difficulty is 1260

I've just tested latest Avalon firmware, 20130419, with p2pool, it has cgminer 2.11.4 inside, so I thought it would work without problems using stratum, but it does not.

Is there something to do on my p2pool instance to make it work?

thanks

That hash in the release post is a Git commit hash. If you want to ensure the safety of the Windows binary, use GPG to validate it with the separate signature file.

If you want to validate the source code, it's a bit harder - use git to download it from Github and compare the commit hash, or check the release tag, which is signed.

spiccioli

Its a git command,

git checkout <branch>
make the current branch <branch>, updating the working directory to reflect
  the version referenced by <branch>

So in the directory of the p2pool which you cloned with git

Code:
git checkout avalon

Not sure if you need to change anything else. Or if there is a zip/tar of the p2pool avalon branch.

What's your hash rate?  If your hash rate is pretty low compared to pool difficulty, it'll take a while to get a share.  Note that every share submitted by cgminer is not necessarily a share accepted by p2pool.

thanks tiktoc,

I was thinking it had been integrated into main p2pool code... I'll try it in a few days to see how it goes.

spiccioli

Unless I read it wrong, when I looked this morning the main branch hasn't been updated in a few weeks.

M

also on your p2pool page, it will give you an estimated time to share based on your hash rate and current share difficulty.

Think of it in that the Shares: 0 equals a small block from the actual block the whole pool is working on.

Then the shares you see in cgminer are shares the your p2pool sends you to work out the small block share of the big block. Smiley
