Why the bitcoin price is increasing means, there is news like Bitcoin is going to split 2 coins. if it happens those who are holding bitcoins, they will get BCC. That is why people are buying more bitcoins. And the demand is increased in the market, so the price is increased that's it.

I am still holding on to my bitcoin and not selling it only because I believe that the value of bitcoin will go higher than it is now,  I will consider selling it once the price is over $10 000 since I believe that it will reach that value. First of all, that is not the right way to use a poll. Second, people trust that Bitcoin will generate them more income and multiply their money in the future based on the facts, news, developments which hinted that Bitcoin's price would continue to rise hence the value of Bitcoin that they had invested would rise. As simple as that.

Maybe they are waiting for something better opportunity to make their bitcoin is being double at the right time to exchange it. There is a risk but if you didn't try or gamble you're profit is stock up or not grow. Just go with the flow if you feel good about something.

After the news about the split and the segwit was announced, many people sold their bitcoins resulting to a dump in the market price of bitcoin but it recovered now reaching up to $3000. Most of the people who chose to hold their bitcoins are the long time users of bitcoin. I guess it is because that this had happened before ( the dump ) and they choose to hold because they know that panic selling will happen. The dump will really be a good opportunity for those who can afford buying bitcoin. Holding bitcoin is really risky since the price can go down anytime but it is worth the risk.

Most of the people who sold their bitcoin are the ones who are new in this market. I guess they were really afraid that their bitcoins will disappear in their wallets.

Exactly! Only those have sold their bitcoins who were new to crypto trading. It needs real patience and courage to hold bitcoins when values are continuously dumping and majority seems to give up on bitcoins. At that time, those who hold their coins definitely enjoy huge profit when the prices are going up just like in the current scenario. Still people can get back to their coins. People are still holding into their bitcoin because they are still believing and expecting that despite of the continuous dumps or let us state it as unstable status of the price value, bitcoin's price will comeback into a price pump sooner or later. They just see the dumps as a great count to buy bitcoins and sell those when the price pumps. Bitcoin's price pump and dump are just normal scenario in the market so they still tend to hold into their bitcoin and do not worry about it.

At the end only the users who believe in bitcoin keep hold of it. Other people are cashing out as well holding it in the form of altcoins. This is just because of the FUD and the panic created based on the upcoming August 1st. Hope nothing bad happens causing a disaster to the network.

I think people still holding their bitcoin in believing that it's prize will increase and it's possible that it will. Even lot of speculation that bitcoin will die and it's prize will downfall but instead of this they still believe and hold there bitcoin. I don't think that It could be the main reason of it all. They're not saving just for the hope that the Bitcoin price will increase after some years, because we really don't know what will happen in the future. Well maybe Bitcoin will not be as successful as we thought it would be, who knows. Regardless of what will happen in August 1st, they will still hold some amount. And for what reason? Its 'timing', your guts will tell when you will sell those coins of yours. Since we don't know when would the price could increase, then it will be just your guts to know if now is a good timing.
