I have just released a new version of the Simple Trade Bot. This new version will introduce 2 new indicators, 1 more advanced setting and some other changes. You can read all about the new features and changed on this page.
http://www.haasonline.com/release-notes-stbot-v0-9-0-6-beta/

All registered users can get the update if they login to the My Account page and re-download the software. Be sure to uninstall the old version first.

BTW If you are seeing the message "This software is outdated..." it is because BTC-e has changes it coins, just update and this message is gone.

How do you upgrade from a previous version?

I've not been able to...have to re-input keys etc..

@Stephan My Cryptsy keys aren't working in 906 and 905.  Seems to be returning my BTC-E wallet accompanied by an error???  I've generated new keys of course.

UPDATE:

Can connect to API (must be Cryptsy problem)....but can't get BTC balance and I think the buy and sell prices are wrong way round?Huh

@miaoux:
I did send mail for you, i will CC it to your PM. I hope this will help your issue.

@kalross:
Cryptsy is working, am just tested it again to be sure. But i am seeing those reversed buy and sell prices too (Ltc/Btc). It looks like it does not impact the trading, but it is a bit strange. I have seen this happening in the past, but back then i could explain it. At BTCChina i am seeing this to, but there is it caused by the fee. At Cryptsy i am unable to explain it... yet... i will have a deeper look.

@madpoet:
At the release post i wrote down you have to uninstall the old version first, then install the new version, configure you API keys and thats it. You will be up and running.

I will make sure from the next version and up i will save the API settings in the register of Windows. This way you do not have to enter the API credentials each update. I have them saved in a local vault, so i can access them very quick. But i can imagine a lot of user does not do this.

If we have to uninstall/reinstall then we lose all of our current history, etc; right?  Was hoping for some kind of drop-in upgrade.

Reversed Buy Sells could be to do with the lag and server load issues I think.

Problems are all clearly Cryptsy load related.  Since being in Wall Street Journal, they have new servers/programmers etc coming in.

I still don't understand why the bot can't get my BTC balance from Cryptsy though, since it can retrieve all others?  Problematic as I need to trade between BTC.  Might move back to BTC-E.

Oh...might not be relevant...but API keys only worked for Cryptsy when I deleted BTC-E keys and restarted software???

Please add Advanced option Last Sell and buy reset after 1 buy/sell cicle.
When I used the RSI indicator (default) and reseted these values to 0 manually, it gave a good profit.

There seems to be a problem in the Benchmark function when the new "Last buy and sell price reset" option is used. The profit (or lack thereof) is not calculated correctly.

I have highlighted the problematic fields, as you can see they show earnings as 0.0 rather than than the value. I guess it happens only when that new function is triggered as there are other working values there.

Benchmarking doesn't seem to be working for me.  I set the indicator and the last buy/sell prices, then hit Benchmark button.

A timestamp with resets shows in the logs, then nothing.  No updates to the charts, no additional updates in the logs.

@madpoet:
I agree this is not wanted and i (ahum, sinds today it is we) are working on solving this issue. Wink

@kalross:
Is must be load related, i have no other explanation for it. Except for BTCChina, where i still see reserved value due the 0% fee.
i will have a look at the restart issue, this sound odd.

@MBTY:
Use the new last buy/sell price reset in the advanced settings. Wink

@CryptoMaster:
This is normal, also you might not expect it, i agree. Once the reset happens the last buy and sell prices are reset. The bot does require a last buy price and sell price to calculate any profit.

I will have a look if i can do something about it, but i am not sure.

Has anyone actually made some profit with this? Is it any better then day trading?

Maybe I'll consider purchasing one, for trading while I'm sleeping  Roll Eyes

Long term trading
- Set the time interval to something like 2, 5 or 10 minutes
- Last buy and sell at 0
- Drop-loss price at 95% of the current price
- Open the advanced settings, disable the fee-overcome safety (warning this could give some unprofitable trades, that is normal it will compensate in time)
- Open the advanced settings, set the drop-loss-price adjustment to 5x your interval time and adjust to something like 97% oft he current buy price.
- Add one MACD or MACD-MA indicator at default settings.
- Setup your trade amount and coin position and press activate.

hey!

so ive been playing with the EMA values for hours and i cant seem to come anywhere near what i'd like

im trying to get the ema to come close/match the ones on bitcoinwisdom (they use 7 &30) http://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/btce/ltcbtc

preferably the ones from the 5 or 15 or 30 min graphs, the EMAs in the bot are wayy off from these, any idea how i could fix this? ive tried a ton of values for 20,80 and 140 second steps, any help would really make me happy

i seem to able to find the perfect EMA's to loose a ton of money so if there's anyway to reverse the indicater (buy means sell and sell means buy) that could work as well

cheers

Hi CADguy, I have the exact same problem! with an MACD-MA 8/9 are unprofitable. also with price change indicator this is the case(I don't know about other ones). If the indicator would gives an inverse signal the 8/9 would have been proffitable.. Your example chart got me thinking... I use LTC/USD but maybe LTC/BTC has to be used for now. a loss of LTC means a win of BTC wich in turn is not so bad I think. But again I am not sure.

Haasonline can help us for sure ;-)

Create some benchmark files for yourself (let it run for 24 hours straight, do it for a couple of days). Benchmark your settings on all files you got and write everything down and calculate the averages. Change the value's in an orderly fashion and just test, test and test.

You should come up with some good value's, it just requires time to find them Smiley.

Could someone explain the drop-loss feature to me? When I have a drop-loss price of 24.5 why does the programm sell at 24.988?

Well, I see why it happens, but it breaks any kind of profitability analysis you might want to do. Adding 2 extra variables to store the last buy/sell prices when that function is triggered should do the trick.

Could someone explain the drop-loss feature to me? When I have a drop-loss price of 24.5 why does the programm sell at 24.988?

I assume price went below 24.5, which caused the drop-loss to trigger, and then it sold at 'market price', which was currently 24.988.

Thats easy, the drop-loss price looks to the current price and once it sees the current price is crossing the drop-loss price it will try to sell the coins. At a drop you want to sell for the current prices so thats what the software does, it looks for the current sell price and it creates a order based on that.

So the difference you see is normal, it is a minor draw-back that will almost ensure your coins being sold. If the software would have tried to sell for the higher price it is almost fully to be expected your order will not get filled. (in other words, you will be getting much bigger losses)

@all:
There is a minor bug detected into the "Price Change" indicator. I do recommend NOT to use this indicator. The indicator, as it is now, will allow a buy signal to soon. So unless you use more indicators you could get to high buy prices.

The problem is fixed already for the new release, but there are 2 other things i will have a look at first before i put the new release online. I do not want to keep updating unless it is absolutely needed.
