your settings for 1070 to get 425sols at 65% tdp?
how about settings for 1080ti to get 800sols at 80% tdp?
I can not do 800 sols with any 1080 ti Best I've managed out of my Aorus is about 790 - but that was PUSHING it with a bit over 100% TDP (105 I think, for 262 watts) and +150 core +100 memory. 80% figure (200 watts) more like 720 sol/s ballpark, +150 and +100 (which seems to be the sweet spot for this card at ANY power level 75% or higher, lower it starts crashing at the +150 core setting). My Gigabyte 3-fan Windforce model overheats if I try to push it at all, it's currently pulling a little under 700 sol/s at 215 watts +120 core +100 ram (It's on a LINUX box where TDP is set direct as a watts figure not a % figure). ************************************ AND OMG ******************************************** It's on a riser for cooling reasons - and still pulling about 70C at 80% fan at a ambient of about 85F, despite the reduced TDP setting. What are your ideal target temps for cards? (realistic) + whats a temp range you consider too hot for the card // why and how long until (estimated) the card will fail?

other then when I stuck a riser in the wrong spot and fully shorted a new asus strix 480 gb but I never run over 80c ever. i try to run 65-70c I sell all cards under 1 year of use. now of all the cards I sold 3 guys got back to me they had killed off the cards 1-4 months use and I got multiple rmas for them. So base on rx 470's up to nvidia 1080ti's they all should last a year if you don't push them. that 120 cards is ball park but not far off. maybe 160 cards is closer. most miners push till the card dies and don't sell the cards off. also never had a fail fail but my locations are not dusty and fans are 75% or less. I have had 4-5 riser fails 1 mobo fail it killed 3 psu's 4 psu fails 0 ram fails 1 cpu intel 6700k failed all in all my style of 65-70% is working for keeping gear safe.

@citronick I ended up going with this board and hopes that the genius pcie design doesnt short it all out O_O @VoskCoin I've been on the fence about that board. but I guess its fine, just a little extra work of wrapping the pciex1 plug of the riser with electrical tape. To add cards, I am trying to use the m2 slots on my board: asrock fatal1ty b250 gaming k4(6 pcie out of the box). On that note, does anyone here have any experience with m2 to pcie to work properly for card#7 and #8? The first time I tried, I was able to get windows 10 to detect the card but the card always had error code 43. No amount of bios or driver tinkering got it to work. I emailed asrock support about it and they pointed me to a beta bios. Finally had free time and energy to try the beta bios a few days ago. It had 4G decoding!!!! Got windows to detect the gtx1060 card and to install drivers. Ran ewbf but only getting 50sols/s while the other gtx1060 cards get 270ish. Tried switching risers and cards. Any card or riser plugged into the m2-pcie slot only produced 50sols/s Have you guys encountered this issue before? How did you deal with it? I will probably email asrock support about this again. Just a guess but you could check your BIOS for M.2 options – there might be one for number of PCI lanes or speed eg x2 x4.

Ya, i have to agree with you when i was 100% operational before the hurricane, running the cards like a skank on the street is just not worth it.. sooner or later it will stop putting out.... I personally sacrafice a little in the hashrate department and create a custom fan curve that keeps all my GPU's below 69c no matter what... I have the mining settings setup to pause mining for 60 minutes if there is ever a time a card ever exceeds 72c, which happened twice and both occasions it was because the MSI Afterburner software had locked up on the machine and stop controlling the fan curve and defaulted to OEM fan curve, both times it happened the software SMS me that it happen, i looked into it and fixed it... My very first 1080ti GPU i ever bought for mining, i didnt really know what i was doing, had it mining at default 84c @100tdp for weeks, that card now is my main GPU in my personal desktop now, because when it mines the hashrates are only about 80% of exact model cards, because i ran it to hard from the beginning and it always mined in the 80ish range for days... The main issues i have ran into is Riser issues, mostly from expansion or viberations making the connection not as secure. I fixed most of those issues by investing in a hot glue gun, now when i install a GPU in a riser i gob a few sticks of glue around the gpu to riser connection and on every wire connection, to include the pins entering the back of the connections... this alone has dropped my riser issues by like 95%

Still waiting for the mobo. It arrived in the states on the second.
May be lost not sure the Singapore mail service says it reached the USA
USPS says it is not traceable.
I think if it went to west coast USA from Singapore that it arrived on October 2nd.
It is the 6th so maybe it comes on the 7th or 9th or it is lost.

I first started using low temp hot glue sticks, they didnt melt on the gear, but seemed very soft during peak heat of the day.. so i bought high temp sticks and a new gun.. These are the sticks i bought https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Basic-Crafts/Glues-Adhesives/4-Hot-Temp-Craft-Sticks-Glue-Sticks/p/22943This is the gun, it was clearance for $0.99 https://www.hobbylobby.com/Floral-Wedding/Floral-Supplies/Wire-Tools/All-Purpose-High-Temperature-Mini-Hot-Glue-Gun/p/157112In regards to using it, i just firmly assembled everything, booted it up, made sure it worked, then i turned it off, unplugged the power and wiped everything down with rubbing alcohol and rag and just gobbed it along the entire PCI connection, multiple passes, then gobbed it around the usb connector, then around the 6 pin connector, then i hit up all the backs of the connectors at the cables securing each one in its own gob of glue, then on the mobo, i pluged the adapter in and gobbed it on the mobo... In my case, most of the issues i had were the riser PCI to GPU connection, i used a white paint marker once to test it out on a rig i assembled, and every gpu moved some at that connection, none of the paint marks lined up perfectly anymore and i had zip tied around the riser and gpu on that rig, still the viberations from the fan and such made it slowly move.. with the hot glue i place it everywhere so it cant move... Maybe if you want to, try silicone, i just went with hot glue because it was cheap and already had it at the time.. just upgraded to the higher temp stuff after started using it...

My guy in China says his supplier got stocked out and waiting for next batch. Sounds like the great whale has bought all of it. I am going to another channel direct to a Colorful distributor... keep fingers crossed.

Friend of mine has been setting up a rig... One of his GPUs started to emit a burning smell right off the bat. Probably riser related. Can a faulty riser actually physically damage a GPU? I suppose it could if it's shorting it somehow. Would EVGA accept an rma for this type of damage?

Hi Guys, sorry for off topic, but would anyone know how to avoid the "stuck trouble" with Stak XMR miner ? Because on some rigs, STAK doesn't want to work after about 10 minutes. No error, but I see in the console that the last share was long ago, generally about 10minutes after the miner start.
That's very annoying, and I don't know the cause. I'm forced to switch to sgminer on that rigs, or claymore ...

Yes riser is possible, or bad plugging. EVGA will accept it without any problem.

Yes riser is possible, or bad plugging. EVGA will accept it without any problem. just tell them it started to smell burnt as soon as you powered it up. don't mention mining don't mention risers.. it is a case of less is more. i.e. do not volunteer extra info. Since the L3+ seems to be on infinite backorder unless you know someone or willing to pay to much, is the S9 worth buying right now or just better off waiting? i know very little int he world of ASICs right now...
If anyone wanted to know i assembled my new gamer/personal PC today, AMD Threadripper 1950x, in Awesome Miner benchmarking for CPU mining on XMR using, it averages 1,387 hashrate @ 128watts, not sure why it only says 50% load on all the cores... maybe tweaking is still needed.

Nice piece of furniture you built there. Looks strong enough to act as a butt warming bench! I would add a roll of some insulation material and place it on top of those PSUs to block off the back-draft airflow. That way the ASICs and PSUs would be able to pull fresh air through the inlet air filter much easier. Try to compare the overall airflow with and without the blockage by watching deflection of some sheet of paper or something. Also interesting to see the differences in temperatures with/without filter and/or the blockage. What's the total airflow of both ASICs and PSUs? 300-400 CFM I guess? 10dB SPL reduction is pretty good. To make it even better you can try and add some baffles in the U-channel and build a labyrinth of sorts. That way you may get another 10 dB reduction easily and still allow for decent airflow. Profitable ASICS = S9s or A741s, L3+ Avoid X11 miners because there is just too many D3s, Baikals, iBeLinks out there -- and the diff level is basically screwed to kingdom come. Hopefully something good will come out of X11 coins in near future. If I can turn back time, I would have bought shitloads of 470s and 1070s for the ETH farm. I could use a piece of foam and wrap it in fiberglass blanket. lay it on the psu's then the tunnel would be sealed from intake and exhaust. I wonder if that would be an improvement on temps of the gear.

Try setting it for 1 thread per 2 MB of cache, that seems to be the sweet spot for XMR mining on CPUs. To an earlier question - I try to keep my GPUs to 70C or less when the ambient is in the 80F range. I plan some "rework" of my cooling setup in the current place over the winter to get more airflow through it, and intend to add a 3'd evap unit as well (currently running a pair of Brisa 3004 models "stacked" and have enough room and the proper electrical setup to "stack" a 3'd unit on top of the existing 2). Most (possibly all) current ASIC miner models have a 200-250 CFM cooling setup. The ones that use 2 fans in a "push-pull" setup do so to deal with high backpressure, doing that improves airflow SOME but is still only going to max out at the airflow rating of the HIGHEST airflow fan.

I started working on it last night - just back from my overseas travels. In BIOS, enable 4G support. In smOS... PCI slot 1 doesn't seem to work - it could be because I am using P106 to test. However in Windows 10, all slots are working except for slot 1 - my guess is that its expecting a normal GPU with video-out - will test this shortly. Will post updates today. I hope Phil got his package soon too.
