im curious if a 1070 would do well with a Kraken G12 kit, my rig i had the 4 x 1080ti's with kraken G12's had awesome core temps while mining, but the VM's sat in the low 90c while mining.. would maybe make for a budget option if its not as hot of a running card as the 1080ti's

Well. I am running the Evga hybrids

S0 some cooling is done on VM with the fans.

But I mine zec. And set ram to -350

This gives very good numbers  450 sols to 460 with no fear of over heating the VMs

.....

I appreciate the info bud, just have to wait for the motherboard to ship here, says 12-20days...

I was curious did you go 8gb on the memory or less? found some 8gb sticks on newegg for around $55 and what made you switch to USB over the msata if you already had the msata drive? just curious... i only have 2 usb3 drives, so if i switch my rigs over to this board it may cause issues as usb3 drives have increased in price recently...

are you sure you are applying power to all 3 inputs and all 3 outputs? most of the pictures i seen have the outputs being used to power fans... so slightly confused.

I only use mSATA and SSDs for Windows rigs - which I have some mainly for UAT and dev stuff - they join mining in the farm when not doing testing etc.

I standardized on USB3 for smOS Linux and nvOC Linux mainly since last year - I have Sandisk and Kingston USB3 8gb, 16gb and 32gb (Win10 WTG).

Troubleshooting, installing and removing mSATA, SSD needs some downtime and using USBs is faster most certainly.

So in summary, easy for me to manage almost 66 rigs in the GPU farm.

You need the 3 molex, 3 sata plugged in to get all 6 slots to work -- the POUTS labeling is wrong.

I will use this D1800 board for low power GPUs and hopefully we get hands on the 8 x slotters soon for the heavy duty rigs.

Eventually --  targeting 80% riserless rigs in the farm - that's my long term goal.

You are right, Citronick. The mark of the mb is wrong. I used all six molex and sata and now all six slots work! But I only run 3 vegas on it. The system itself only consume 17w. Super!

nice and  if you only run 3 vegas  you have very good spacing.

[...]The system itself only consume 17w. Super!

I had a strong suspicion that they used some mobile chipset/CPU combo in this motherboard because of the SO-DIMM, mSATA and a tiny CPU heatsink. Now you're saying it's only using 17W, which is typical for a mobile platform. Not a bad idea I would say...

when I get the second one and finally set it up  with 6 water block  evga 1070's

I think  it will be a true beast.

it may not like 6 1080 ti's due to weaker psu  cpu

Yes spacing is more than enough. Actually before the second and third slots can be used, two vegas are on fifth and sixth slots. Even the spacing is tight, the temp of the gpu is under 50c. Two reason: 1. Vega's blower is efficient. 2. The rig is in garage and now it is kind of cold there already.

One question for you though, Philipma. How did you figure out that molex is for power input. I would not dare to do that unless I am sure about it.

Your suspicion is right. It is using a j1800 cpu with tdp 10w. Currently it handles 3 Vegas with no issue at all. I used to plug two vegas and two 570 on it mining xmr. I guess xmr mining requires much less power.

please the question  should be how did i put it one in upside down incorrectly   and 2 into it correctly ? Grin

I knew  due to the pins  vs holes.

if pins  it is input

if holes it is output.

a psu  molex has  holes and outputs.

So you think the D1800 wouldnt support 6 x 1080ti's? what gives you this reasoning? Just curious so i can understand it all better....

I bought it with the intentions to consolidate some of my 3 and 4 gpu rigs i previously ran into a more reliable 6 gpu setup without risers on water...

I just got done mailing off 41 x EVGA 1080ti's, 33 Gigabyte 1080ti's and 27 x Asus Turbo 1080ti's off for warranty to see what happens. The insurance company wrote me a letter stating that they wouldn't pay out for any of them on the claim i filed for my house damaged by hurricane tell i attempted to have them all fixed via product warranty... sigh... the BS i have to go through to use your insurance you pay for.. I talked to all 3 companies and stated why im sending them to them, making it clear they were damage via water from hurricane damage, just trying to be upfront with them so they dont try to claim them good and repairable on me and send me back repaired units, i would rather just start over fresh with new units all over again.

some algos  like a better  cpu.

they should do zec okay.

and I plan on using linux not windows.

smos is the goal.

nv0019  likes a better cpu  when you do a lot of 1080 ti's

You guys see that the 1070 ti is supposed to be launching later this month? I wonder if it will have the same sols/watts as all the current nvidia lineup.. either way the price per hashrate is probably going to be great at $420 and closer to 1080 specs

That really sucks with the insurance. Those rat finks should have to pay you to replace them just like they would do with anything else in your house that got destroyed by flooding..... did you threaten to sue them? (curious if they are just trying to strong arm you...)

If they are actually available at MSRP I think they would be great, but I'm afraid they're all going to be jacked up in price. :/

There is already a review on that gpu floating around, apparently the OC side of it is disabled from the factory.. That kinda worries me...

Why nvidia why?! Huh Hopefully some enterprising devs could work around the OC restriction, but given the current state of BIOS lockdown it's probably unlikely :/

Maybe I misunderstood it but I thought it was just the nvidia software/drivers won't be able to OC but 3rd party tools like afterburner will be able to.. maybe I was incorrect

I hope it is fully locked.

Give the gamers  something .

It would also  keep up the value of the 1070 s I have.

With ETH fork tomorrow will all the mining pools switch people over to the new version or leave them on the old?

Just wanted to show you guys my first Vega64 mining rig. Supposed to be 8 x Vega 64, but one of them was not stable, had too many crashes/hangs, have to return it tomorrow.

After some days of struggling (RAM was also broken), I managed to start my rig only with a ATX PSU, so currently I have Delta PSU powering GPU's and a borrowed Enermax 1700W ATX PSU powering the MB and SSD.

Rig with 7 x Vega64:

Power at wall:

Hashrate for XMR with xmr-stak-amd miner (for some reasons on only 4 I could activate HBCC so 4 are hashing with ~1800h/s and 3 with ~1400h/s):

Thanks a lot all of you for helping me Smiley

May want to consider splitting this into 2 rigs so you get full hashrate on all the cards
