Should people wait for the above to be fixed before:

1. Downloading the current wallet software, and/or
2. Mining

or is it ok to do one or both now?

Solo mining is not recommended yet. We're trying to map out bad nodes, people having problems should PM me their debug.log.

You can mine agains anc.usr.io or coinpool.in, which we know is on the right chain.

I suggest adding:
addnode=anoncoin.net:9377
addnode=coinpool.in:8912
addnode=anc.usr.io:9377

to your anoncoin.conf and resync. This should make sure you're on the right chain. Then it's no problem downloading the wallet. Smiley

coinpool.in is saying Unable to connect to wallet RPC service
not possible to withdraw anything
and on vircurex i have 0/6 confirmations in 24 hours
are they moving to a new client?
no one is writing anything, so i dont know what is wrong at the moment

Are you still having problems withdrawing from coinpool.in?

I contacted vircurex about this issue, and I am hoping to get a response soon. They already upgraded the client, but it seems they might be on the wrong chain or have a stuck wallet. I will post again when I get a reply.

Looks like Anoncoin has forked..  Undecided

I posted this in the official thread and did not get any response. So posting again here - bit old now but:

Not sure what is going on but it looks like Anoncoin has forked twice in 2 days on www.miningpool.co

Yesterday I downloaded and compiled new source and the client seemed to be on the same chain as the only working block explorer: https://anoncoin.net/exp/index.php

Checked back today and it appears we are now on a different chain again  Huh

Pool is on block 87084 block explorer is showing current block at 87068??

Any idea why this keeps happening?

OMG maybe this is the reason why until now my deposited anoncoin on vircurex is still unconfirmed its almost 48hrs now, so what will happen to that coin? how it will be confirmed then?

As there seems to be a recurring forking issue going on which we do not know the cause of we will be releasing a reworked version of the 0.7 branch instead of 0.8. The new 0.7 release will still include the kimoto gravity well difficulty algorithm.

We will be back with more news as soon as possible. We apologize for the trouble the latest release has caused.

Have you sent them a support ticket? My ANC were lost in limbo for 48 hours, sent cryptsy a ticket and it was solved in no time.

Hotfix - downgrade 0.7.5

Windows binaries released: https://anoncoin.net/downloads/0.7.5.0/
Signed by me.

Hoping to get binaries for lin/osx ready within next day or two.

This release still have the new protocol in place when we hit block 87777.

Source: https://github.com/Anoncoin/anoncoin

Abstract: It seems like an yet unknown patch between bitcoin 0.6.9 and bitcoin 0.8.5.5 didn't like the calculations Anoncoin used. Messages(blocks alerts, etc) between nodes got delayed, and some pools reported crashing. We have locked into a "last known good block".

More info is comming.

How?

Goto %appdata% (type it in the dialog after pressing windows+r), then click into the Anoncoin folder. Delete all files except wallet.dat.

If you wish to contribute to find this yet unknown bug, please send in your debug.log as a PM or mail.

So is this above the version we should now be running?   There are so many huge threads with tons of useful info for ANC, but little to nothing on source code downloads or current version.

Profit-Switching Pool w/ Vardiff -> http://hashco.ws  Optionally keep the alts we mine or auto-trade for BTC. In addition can be paid out in any of: 365, AC, BC,  BTC, C2, CINNI, COMM, FAC, HBN, MINT, PMC, QRK, RDD, WC, XBC

Yes, use 0.7.5. Ok, thanks for the reply. We will try to make the version clearer! Source code is always available on our github project page.

Thanks.  Whats the current block height on the proper fork?  Seems one explorer is down, another I can't get any info from, and the 3rd is showing 85689, though after re-compiling the source mine is showing 87120 (though I do see a peer with 87167 so I may not be done catching up, either way quite a bit higher than the explorer).

The proper height is 87167. The explorer was stuck because the server had run out of diskspace (and anoncoind stopped), that was my fault and I've fixed it now. Sorry for that. The explorer is now fully synced again.

Reminder: Upgrade to latest release if you are having problems connecting to nodes.

A new mandatory update for ANC is released to deal with reported node communication issues. Due to an unknown bug in the 0.8 branch which may cause a minor chain fork issue we reverted to the latest 0.7 branch with modifications. The latest stable release (0.7.5) is now available for download at https://anoncoin.net/Downloads.html
