Here's an interesting article on deanonymizing coinjoin.

http://www.coindesk.com/blockchains-sharedcoin-users-can-identified-says-security-expert/

They don't discuss DarkCoin explicitly, but I presume they have the exact same problem.

What exactly is the problem you are hinting?    I don't see it.
The article discusses how to deanonymize bitcoin transactions that make use of CoinJoin (which is a simple way of mixing a small number of transactions together in a block). DarkCoin's "darksend" is based on coinjoin, so I presume that it is equally unsafe (but perhaps there are some extra subtleties). The point is: If anoncoin gets zerocoin working, it will be the only truly anonymous coin out there...

I quote from the article:

Quote
Bitcoin users in need of serious transaction privacy should avoid popular services like Blockchain’s SharedCoin and other CoinJoin implementations, according to a well-known security expert.

Consultant Kristov Atlas, author of the book Anonymous Bitcoin, published a security advisory today saying weaknesses in SharedCoin offered privacy only from “unskilled examiners of the bitcoin blockchain” – and even then, only until more sophisticated analysis tools were made user-friendly enough for the average user to deploy.

Good post, and highlighting of one very important point. Even if most people can't examine the blockchain, one skilled individual is potentially enough to reverse the anonymity. This in itself is not really bad if the users are aware of the risks. If they however believe they are safe, it could lead to disaster.

I have seen some of the drk supporters claim that even if you can infiltrate some of their nodes you will only be able to reverse the anonymity of a few individuals/transactions. They say that as it does not really pose a problem for anyone. Probably because they are not currently in a situation that really requires anonymity.
Depending of the type of transactions revealed, and possibly tied to an identity, it could be the difference between life or death for one or more individuals who actually trusted the technology to keep them anonymous/safe both at the time of the transaction, and beyond.

You can help Anoncoin community by doing following things.
1. Participate actively in the forum and on IRC chat.  Write articles about anoncoin on blogs and forums. At least one new article in the forum or blogs in every 12 hours.
2. Create supernodes of Anoncoins to strengthen the Anoncoin Network.
3. If you are developer , there are many possibilities on what you can do by creating applications and tools.
4. Tweet about Anoncoin and its features. Discuss about the difference with Darkcoin and how its better.

Finally,  You can also donate few ANCs to my address, so that i can build more applications and services.http://ancblockchain.com/address/ASAdJpndrVcuMzfA52XBGzQMhFRQfdCh7k .

Good post geekz. I'm donating 5% (242.75 anc) of my current balance to help cover the costs of applications and services.

And we all stick to the plan  Smiley

Its hard to guess since we don't know much about the services meeh is developing in addition to gnosis zerocoin implementation.

My guess is that the price will be stable for 2 weeks before speculators will start to accumulate as much anc as possible before the implementation is done driving the price up.

Not much anc for sale at the current prices.

The 100 lowest sell orders on cryptsy is just 982.4016797 coins, for a total of 1.0704484 btc.

you mean for total value of all mined anons : )

@shtako

ofc, it is hard to know, that is most interesting for this coin.

I also think that 1-2 weeks "before" we will see 40-60k $ trade volume , and price on 1.5-2$

If we get any test news and to be part of test, I predict 5-10$, and few days after we are on 20$

With release of ANC/ZC + maybe something we do not know, ANC is on 40$.

Christmas will be snowy and stable 110$ / ANC

Here is another interesting article describing how to deanonymize bitcoin by linking transactions to IP addresses:

http://www.coindesk.com/eavesdropping-attack-can-unmask-60-bitcoin-clients/

It is my understanding that Anoncoin is immune to this type of attack if you route your client through i2p. However, it is less clear to me if the same type of attack would work with darkcoin darksend transactions and cryptonote transactions.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

Talk & trolling thread. All that was posted in this thread should lie in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=309716.0 now.

Anoncoin 0.8.5.6 is released!

Windows and OSX binaries are released here:
https://anoncoin.net/index.php/downloads

Changelog:
https://anoncoin.net/blog/?p=45

You can also style your client with CSS. Put a CSS file inside your anoncoin config dir, like default.css, and then add style=default.css to load the stylesheet! Link to CSS reference is here: http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-4.8/stylesheet.html
Move discussion here guys

Yeah I've noticed that too, is there a particular reason for this?
Like people hoarding their coins or just few people that mine it?

I have the same problems these last few weeks with Cryptsy. Others coins too:
http://www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/comments/287wou/boycott_cryptsy/

The problem is that we depend on them. This is the only exchange with a good ANC volume.
If you dont switch exchanges, volume will always be biggest on craptsy.
