Does this mean DVC now has a cap of 100m and existing coins should be burned, or how does it work in terms of getting our existing tokens on to the Stellar network? @ranlo, I already answered your question before. I'm a bit confused about something in this proposal: what happens with coins that already exist? I know there's fear about whales having a lot of coins but keep in mind that some of us spent YEARS helping build the site, contributing, and spending countless hours on administration work. On top of that, some of us that spent the majority of our time working on the project have still sold exactly ZERO Devcoins. So while I get the fear aspect, it's important to remember that some of us believed in the old project so much that even as it tanked we held tight (and accumulated more coins on the market), rather than trying to cash out. Anything that would push coins out of whales' wallets is only a punch in the face to those who relentlessly worked to help the project and took zero remuneration due to wanting to see it succeed.
Yeah, don't forget that I'm on the same boat. Just to make things clear, in my proposal I'm talking about money not in your pocket: newly generated coins & coins in the OpenSourceFund+friends. I'm not proposing anything for existing coins that aren't controlled by the Devcoin Foundation, yet. - develCuy |

The 14 GFC shares are in a "DeVCoin Foundation" account on HORIZON, NHZ-M58F-Y78J-4DA6-75UUA The "DVC Holdings" account on HORIZON, NHZ-YC2W-ZDCP-NS4G-4CEGK, is the "treasury" the Galactic Milieu uses to compute the value of a DeVCoin. DVC will need some of those in order to start up a FreeCiv civilisation as not only do you have to be a civilisation to hold them you also have to hold them to become a civilisation. The ideal is that you hold enough of them that their increase in value as you pay civilisation-hosting fees offsets those fees so that they hopefully amount more to a kind of savings, saved within the value of the GHC shares you hold, than an actual fee in effect. Although as and when GHC does incur hostings costs those will eat slightly into the accumulated funds, it is expected the value will grow for some time since the fees are based on the idea we will eventually have total immersion 3-D virtual reality representations of all the civilisations so the fees are intended to be enough to represent all the "square miles" your civilisation controls according to FreeCiv in something along the lines of Open Simulator or other free open source virtual-reality system. Basically you ideally want to own at least as large a fraction of GHC's shares as you control of the total "square miles" controlled by civilisations on all the FreeCiv planets. The steps from FreeCiv scale maps to immersive virtual reality are intended to include Crossfire RPG maps of FreeCiv tiles that contain cities or units first, then eventually Crossfire RPG (2-D tiles on individual-character scale) of entire FreeCiv planets, then some kind of terrain drawing algoritmm to make 3-D immersive versions of all that Crossfire RPG territory. Last time I checked the civilisation hosting only amounted to maybe about (monthly in real Earth-months) CAD$3.50 for a single-city initial civilisation up to over CAD$14000 for a large civilisation such as the Brits of the planet known as B29 or the Canucks of the planet C29. So it can get quite expensive for large civilisations which is part of giving them incentives to be active in the Crossfire RPG and CoffeeMUD MUD layers to help exploit their territory more fully. -MarkM- P.S. Actually i'll start with this link to previous post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=233997.msg29680751#msg29680751 (2018) topic of exchanges was discussed and a lot of work was put in back then so worth bringing those learning points up. So Devcoin is currently listed on FreiExchange here: https://freiexchange.com/market/DVC/BTCand it was listed with BTC, LTC, USDT and a whole host of other coins on https://www.altilly.com/ But it was delisted from altilly with the reason that there was little to no trade volume. Should not be much work for them to add the coin back but would probably need to chat with the exchange owners to make this happen. They do now have a listing fee also, in the past I got dvc added for free as they were early starting exchange. With this experience it is only worth an exchange listing dvc if there is any volume.. that means buying as well as selling dvc... and consistently, not just one or two trades and then nothing for weeks and months. The fact that dvc on altilly had pairing with ltc and others and that their exchange is open to trade in fractions of a satoshi against the coin means that as dvc is pegged at 0.00000001 on FRC with over 0.6 btc needed to buy up all the cheapest dvc just to start a buy side support, we need a listing like altilly and not like freiexchange. The fact that dvc had a listing on altilly and lost it through lack of trading volume was and is so disappointing but in truth probably reflects the market for dvc, very few want to buy it even at such low prices and very few looking to offload any real large amounts unless the price goes up... Any of those mentioned exchanges that have a listing fee over 0.5btc you can forget about for now as simply where are you getting these funds from? We tried to rally or see if the community would donate but it a lot to ask and no one came forward last time. Also is this the best use of the BTC to list on an exchange when dvc was listed and has been de-listed what is stopping it being delisted and then that btc is gone and wasted. Might be better to use that btc to rally the current price listing on freiexchange. I have been here before, and found te best way to get listed is to find a small exchange that is starting up and get dvc listed for free like on altilly after speaking with the people that run it. Was that really the case? The ltc/dvc pair were pretty active compared to most coins listed on altilly. I am pretty sure devcoin had more volume then most of their coins when it got delisted without warnings. Just look at the exchange now. 23 of 29 ltc pairs have 0 trades last 24h. 94 of the btc pairs have 0 trades last 24h. |

Was that really the case? They said that it's usually more than lack of volume, but they didn't want to disclose it publicly. As far as I know they said they'd speak only with CEO or lead dev with regards to (de)listing. But I don't know if anybody actually spoke with them after they made that clarification? Maybe @FuzzyBear exchanged some private messages with them? |
