I want to give authority to Novacadian to hand out up to 12 shares per round to help Steemit or save it from corruption.

Novacadian agreed to do this. If Novacadian becomes corrupt and starts giving away shares for no reason, which I do not expect at all, then Novacadian would lose the share authority. Any objections?

Hi all,

Just wanted to voice a few thoughts after having been catching up on a few threads and other coins etc.

Firstly exchange listings and new exchanges.

Again huge hats off to CYTA for their hard work on following up on the exchanges and managing to get Devcoin listed on 2 new exchanges.
I would recommend 2 things now.

1. I dont think we need to pay anyone to list Devcoin on their exchange.  Any funds put into such would probably be wasted and could have been used to help buy up the devcoins and increase the DVC price overall.

2. It seems there are a number of other cryptocoins and assets that have been hit by exchanges hacked running off with money etc and a fair few looking about to try find new exchanges to list their cryptocoin (IXCoin, Feathercoin, BBQCoin, WorldCoin) just a few that popped up and saw on their threads or coinmarketcap they no longer listed on exchange etc.  Again IXC is a merge mined coin just like devcoin and been around about as long so maybe https://freiexchange.com would be interested in listing that coin.

point 2 will help bring greater volume to the exchange and thus show it up as a place to arbitrage the price against other exchanges and help boost the revenue for https://freiexchange.com so they can develop more features and attract more users etc.  We can help spread the word of this nice exchange we have found and see if we can help drive crypto traders to the exchange.

Next point I see people are talking about the need for people to be able to spend devcoins on real life products, items and services etc.  I might be willing to run another share passthrough like I did on cryptostocks with the ASICMiner Devcoin Passthrough but I am yet to find any BTC or crypto stock investments that would be a fairly safe investment to start up such a service for the devcoin community.  Anyone any ideas for investments? or anyone know of a platform that I could setup a passthrough for shares like this on? If not I might look into making my own site if enough interest.

Fuzzybear

Fuzzy, I would recommend you get in touch with the DMD Diamond team and pick their brains about passthrough investments. They don't do this any more but for several years they ran a successful "cloud mining" operation using Nice Hash and others where you could donate BTC in exchange for shares and those shares entitled you to a certain amount of profits paid out in DMD. That kept some upward pressure on the market price, and it was a nice little income source. I don't know too much about the details, but I figure that you could learn more from them. Their Bitcoin Talk thread is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=580725

I'd like to see something like a passthrough share again, and the above is my only idea right now.

I do believe the fact that every month 180 million new Devcoins are created may be problematic. It's just too much. We're creating them faster than our ecosystem is able to absorb them. I know that the DNotes team felt that the supply of DNotes was expanding too quickly through Scrypt mining, so when they upgraded to version 2.0, which is a POS coin, they set it up in such a way that the supply of coins would increase at a much lower rate. And DNotes only had about 150 million in circulation at that time and the beginnings of a well developed ecosystem. So if that supply was expanding too quickly, what can be said of a coin whose supply expands by even more than that each and every month?

The last estimate found in a search suggested steem is being produced at about +/- 900,000 per 30 day month. Their deflation rate will take them to 95% less than present production, eventually, yet never to zero. The following link is an analysis post on the math behind steem production. We would do well tailoring DVC in a simular fashion, in my opinion. There needs to be some form of deflation built into the coin for its long term survival. steem has a natural hording through users powering up their steem to steem power (SPs), which DVC does not have.

Where is that second DVC market? Can someone please post a link? Volume on Frei Exchange is completely nonexistent, so I thought I'd see if there was anything going on with the other DVC market. Thanks.

Currently there are how many exchanges for devcoin? If the volume in any exchange is consistent again, can it appear again in coinmarketcap here?

Thanks. I was hoping it was a second centralized exchange. I checked out Bisq network a few weeks ago and it had no volume either.

If we take the deal, we should pay the extra to add those other markets. I think a DVC/LTC market might be livelier because BTC only allows you to price as low as 1 satoshi and I suspect a half satoshi is closer to the actual market rate for DVC.

I say go for it.

Or you could just get the exchange to denominate it to i.e. 1k DVC as a base unit. Should be rather simple and straightforward.

I am having a difficult time finding an example where an exchange is doing this for another coin.  Can you help to find an example?

Freiexchange is not interested in listing any coin for less than one satoshi.  However, I can pursue listing at another exchange if you can find an exchange which is currently trading at sufficient volume below one satoshi.

I vaguely recall seeing that with some coin, but that was probably years ago, when I was into trading cryptos.

Currently, there's IOTA, widely traded in millions (MIOTA). From other solutions, on exchange called CoinFalcon, whenever prices get close to 1 sat, they would just increase number of decimal places for bitcoin. i.e. in KIN-BTC pair, BTC has 10 places after decimal. That could also work for DVC.

I'm pretty sure it's not a rocket science to denominate basic unit to "kDVC" (1,000 DVC), it's all down to whether exchange operator is willing to do that.

On the subject of new exchanges, have you consider YoBit? If the info on their website is still up-to-date, they charge 0.1 btc for premium listing: https://yobit.net/en/addcoin/

I'd be in favor of doing either kDVC (one unit = 1,000 DVC) or going down to the tenth decimal place. Honestly, I'd prefer to stick with BTC/DVC for my own trading, so would welcome either one of those solutions over getting into other base coin markets. But, ultimately it's whatever works.

I do not recommend having anything to do with Yobit. Their support for developers is terrible. DNotes recently did a hard fork to its version 2.0, complete with a one to one swap of old coins to new coins. Yobit was one of the exchanges supporting the old version. Despite numerous efforts to reach Yobit support, the DNotes team never got an answer, and as far as I know, the "DNotes" trading on Yobit is still the old chain--three months after the hard fork! It got so bad that the DNotes team has had to put out multiple warnings that coins purchased on Yobit are not eligible for the swap, and even then, some still miss them and end up as bagholders. It wouldn't take much for Yobit to delist the old coin and upgrade to the new coin, but they won't do either one. Trust me, DVC doesn't need that headache, especially as I'm sure it's only a matter of time before DVC will upgrade to some more current version and have a hard fork of its own.

Why are blocks minting only 12.5 coins and then sending them off to Bitcoin where they are incorrectly classified as newly generated coins? Smiley

Would love to hear an answer.  Here's a link to what I mean:

Let's see, I've send you a .swf file because it's really light, but of course it won't be the final format file. The other option was to send you a video file from near 1GB, instead of this 24kb file. Flash is the software I use, actionscript is the language I use, but that does not mean that you will need a propietary viewer. I think you did not get what is open source and what is flash. I am not telling that you'll need to have installed Flash in order to see the video. You asked me for a sample of the video and I showed that.

Suddenly, DVC was once again remembered by the community! What's going on here? There is no volume on Freiexchange! Why did you disappear from the coinmarketcap? Are they discussing a different form of circulating, but this was not previously established? A Masternodes could do it decrease?

I would also like to add that the bounty regarding the SMF forum was completed with steps two and three. I was not able to create an internal email system other than PM. But I did create black lists and the ability to create and administer forum admin and mods. Just sayin'.

I felt rather put off after working the issues, adding the appropriate tweeks and then being told that the bounty was not able to be applied because I had skipped over the email system. It seems like with all that work that someone with more experience could come in and adjust the email option
