Since in FreeCiv we can save each game-turn, thus could in principle branch off different timelines from any saved game, Battle for Wesnoth offers the potential to create time-cadet operations whereby a player could change the outcomes of some turn on some planet and branch off a new timeline, if time travel ends up somehow sometime being discovered / developed.

I found the campaigns here https://add-ons.wesnoth.org/1.12/ (CTRL+F "mark m")

It seems that newer Wesnoth releases do not support your 1.12 versions? Or I perhaps failed to set them up manually.

On linux, v1.12 can be installed simply with the following command
Code:
$ sudo apt install wesnoth-1.12
And to launch the game
Code:
$ wesnoth-1.12

Fortunately, v1.12 will still try and fetch add-ons from the server. Then the add-ons (e.g. campaigns, scenarios...) can be simply installed from within the game using UI. (just use "mark m" as a search filter to list relevant add-ons)
Also there are some Android version of the Battle for Wesnoth game (Play Store lists two), but not sure which game versions, both 1.12 and 1.14 maybe?

Btw, these campaigns are basically a story telling, there is no "gameplay", so anybody can install it and try them.

[Re: Do you really believe Satoshi is real??]
oh... and satoshi's real identity -> AI from the future that created bitcoins and funneled them into accounts so the AI has access to massive wealth when bitcoin is the global currency. don't supposed anyone wants to come up with a Science fiction story about "satoshi's true identity and why he created bitcoins?"

Install "Battle for Wesnoth" version 1.8 and look for my campaigns in its add-ons system.

Grab the one called "Between the Worlds", and choose the "Time Lord" option when picking which character to play.

When you are well along in your Time Cadet training you should find clues to further studies, not all of which use the Battle for Wesnoth software as their client software. (Battle for Wesnoth is more a way of presenting past events than a tool for influencing events going forward...)

Quote from: markm link=topic=2757.msg57252#msg57252
[Re: Is Satoshi Alive? Thread]
There are some interesting historical re-enactment holodramas produced and directed by researchers at the Institute of Chronodynamics (see the "Time Cadet" timeline(s) in the Battle for Wesnoth add-on "Between the Worlds" for info regarding said Institute) that have just in the last few years started to become viewable using Earthling technology that shed considerable light upon this matter.

I tried to start Space-cadet "Easy" version, and few sub-scenarios worked (perhaps due to my arbitrary story choices?).
"Easy" version implied that the campaign story would reveal more information using the "hard" difficulty, but I can't get "hard" to even start, same error:

I try to load the campaign it says Unknown scenario: 00a_Who_are_you

Within the context of the Galactic Milieu, Bitcoin is thought to be the national currency of the Hacker nation. Naturally this tends to cast Satoshi Nakamoto as a Hacker; some even claim he is an agent of an Institute of Chronodynamics.
It is suspected that "Satoshi Nakamoto" was/is a Time Cadet deployed by the or a Institute of Chronodynamics to effect certain changes in the timelines hereabouts...

These rumors are quite old:
Code:
653 2011-03-05 07:11:24 <knotwork> exactly, in Freeciv is a "fictional" nation known as Hackers, with people like Linus Torvalds as leaders
654 2011-03-05 07:11:30 <Travex> Anybody can tell me how to fix the bitcoin clock please ?
655 2011-03-05 07:11:40 <knotwork> I am asking them if Satoshi qualifies as a leader too for that

3859 2011-03-09 21:25:14 <knotwork> bitcoin is not unique! it is a galactic standard technology brought to Earth by Agent Satoshi
3860 2011-03-09 21:25:18 <farzong> my guess is that there wont be selloffs until btc is like $10K
3861 2011-03-09 21:25:31 <farzong> satoshi is a time traveller from the future? intersting
3862 2011-03-09 21:26:01 <knotwork> hey I didnt say he is an Agent of the Institute of Chronodynamics. That is pure speculation on your part.

Is there an updated version of the campaign, or maybe they rely on saved games from the other 3 campaigns? I didn't look into it too much because it seems that even changing the difficulty would override the saved-game files.

I wanted to see if I could find the earliest documents that mention Japanese nation inhabiting "The planet known as B29", a home planet of Brits, closely tied to Canadian C29, which I presume have the same "leader".
If Japanese history was documented pre-2008, then I suppose rumors might be true. The oldest such documentation I found was 2010, but maybe I missed something.

Quotes from scenario:
Quote
"Well then, according to certain tales attributed to the Grand Old Man or one of his proteges, regions of spacetime, or times, places, or universes - etcetera - that some might regard as fictional can be referred to as fictons. It is from this that we derive the term fictonics. The science of fictons. There are, of course, some who regard fictonics itself as fictional, not least because fictons might well be regarded as fictional. I suppose a kind of relativity is at play: mayhap fiction is relative..."

"For example the Battle for Wesnoth software can allow casual observers to imagine that we are merely playing and designing games rather than working in or toward the fields of chronodynamics and fictonics"

"Earth is often used as an example of a fictional world that might or might not be located at the interface of chronodynamics and fictonics."

The value is in the people on the network and their longevity.

Quote
- I'm sorry, but... I do not quite see what desert planets have to do with human longevity...
- (Smile) Of course. It is an interesting case actually because many of the humans pursuing that route to longevity supposedly came from Earth. So it is a nexus involving both Earth and Irdya. If Earth is destroyed as the Terrador proposal would have it a huge war over a desert planet might be able to be averted. On the other hand if the actual means to the longevity does exist on some desert planet somewhere then as long as there are humans at all it is possible some such war will still eventually happen.
- The connection is a resource which supposedly is rather hard to produce without using a suitable desert planet."
- That of course brings up the whole matter of currency and trade. Economics, in short. We simplify such things in our software, writing gold for example even when we really mean local currency of some other kind. Wherewithal, subsistence. We tend to abstract such things to focus on other things. But in the desert world longevity matter we are basically looking at situations in which longevity is used as currency.
- Time is money.
- (Smile) Exactly. A lot of people, it seems, find longevity far more useful than gold.

Devcoin could probably get listed for free on Fides Exchange. Lots of dead shitcoins have got that deal.

It would be mutual beneficial for both. Fides gets new customers and promotion through devcoin twitter/bitcointalk/medium channels. And devcoin gets a new ltc/dvc market pair.

It's been 9 years to the day since Block 0. It's hardly a dead shitcoin. Maybe just undervalued abstract coin.

Agree. But if they list dead shitcoins they should definitely list devcoin.  Smiley

Don't you want to buy some more cheap coins in a ltc/dvc market?

@shtako, thanks for letting us know about Fides. Let me wear my Investor Administrator hat for a sec:

1. The listing request form is currently found here
2. Listing Fee is 0.25 BTC
3. BTC/BTC Fork – Must comply with Bitcoin Core API > 0.10 (Devcoin is 0.8 )
4. Principle/Developer [...] must be available and reply to any queries from the exchange within 24 hours

I think that this is a good candidate but we need to do some homework before. Also, I think that exchanges supporting XLM tokens are better suited for Devcoin right now, because we don't need to do any software update and all technical issues are already handled by the people running the Stellar network.

Last but not least, we are already listed on Freiexchange with the BTC/DVC pair. Freiexchange has zero fees for trading, they only charge very reasonable fees for withdrawals. Also, the DVC token is getting more and more trading volume in the Stellar DEX: https://stellar.expert/explorer/public/asset/DVC-GBHAQ252S4Z4AQOM4BWIRC3UHAOJIKCZQBUJGD336YH2O7W2NKRXMHA5, where we can trade for ETH, LTC, XRP, XLM, CENTUS, TFC, IXC and a wealth of Galactic Millieu tokens! We could add more exchanges, but the more I talk with exchanges, the more I tend to think that it is better strategy to first heat up our existing markets.

Go go Devcoin!

The biggest problem with smaller exchanges in my opinion is that they have less eyes. People that would trade DVC may not want to have to sign up to a new exchange just to buy it. I know this is something I dealt with in the past (I signed up to a couple exchanges solely for the purpose of trading -- both buying and selling to help the market -- DVC).

I also question whether or not an exchange that just matches it up with LTC would be a disservice since it creates a virtual wall there. Instead of "Wow, this is worth x BTC" it becomes "Eh, it's worth x LTC but I don't really want to trade into/out of LTC."

Both are my personal opinions on the matter, just wanted to toss them out there.

To put things into perspective...

LTC  marketcap  - $2,920,128,326
XLM marketcap  - $2,056,064,586
DVC marketcap  -        $2,025,106

(using  `1 BTC = ~$9,513`, `1 DVC = 1 Sat` price and 21,286,112,500 total devcoins in circulation)

Trading only using DVC/BTC pair would leave us with huge spread even if the price goes x10.
So there is a need for other market pairs, such as XLM/DVC. Fortunately, it's already available on the Stellar network, but perhaps somebody would like to see such pairs on the other exchanges.

Introducing more than one such pair on "fly-by-night" exchanges might be a "disservice" as you say, but only if there is a low volume, so that manually going through various calculations might disincentivize a potential buyer, because nobody can instantly calculate in their head whether for example LTC/DVC matches XLM/DVC denominated in USD. Having high volume on all the relevant pairs would increase trust in market prices being "fair", so no need to manually check every time if the prices match, or whether one pair offers bargains or whatever.
With that regard, Stellar seems to be more convenient because of pathfinding, so volume doesn't matter.

Since Stellar network uses XLM as native currency, it might be better for a fly-by-night exchange to provide XLM/DVC pairing, than the LTC/DVC pair, because XLM can be used for exchanging on Stellar, and not only "trading into/out of it" for the sake of getting DVC.

We can’t afford those listing fees.  Gotta try freiexchange or some free exchanges which are probably high risk.

Maybe DVC will reflect an accurate price once Block 0 reward can be redeemed. They're "satoshi's" coins after all.

Got the feedback from altilly today as to why is was delisted in 2019.

Was told someone from DVC team can put in an official request for it to be listed on altilly and follow their usual listing process. (has been over a year since de-listing) thus could not strike a deal to get them to relist for free.

INFO FROM ALTILLY:

Information:
Project name: Devcoin
Ticker: DVC
Blockchain/algorithm: Own blockchain / SHA-256
Coin/token: Coin
Circulating supply: 18,073,257,500 DVC
Premine: N/A
Explorer/contract: https://node1.devcoin.cloud/
Token/ asset information: https://www.altilly.com/asset/DVC
Comment: None of the marketplaces listed in Bitcointalk thread accept DVC, they do not exist
anymore or DVC value is shown as 0$ - All markets listed currently inactive. (From 2013.
/2014.)
No marketplaces that accept DVC listed on the website.
Website: http://devcoin.org/index.html
Github (or similar): https://github.com/devcoin/core
Bitcointalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=740903.0
Comment: Github repositories inactive 8 months/10 months/5 years.
Bitcointalk thread seems like only active social channel, but couldn’t find recent talk
about development, only discussions related to crypto taxes and exchanges.

Evaluation:
Social: - FAILED
• Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/devcoin/ – 299 members.
• Twitter: https://twitter.com/Devtome – 1895 followers.
• Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Devcoin-1384277851835204/ – 60 followers.
Comment: Reddit– Inactive for a minimum of 8 months, most likely 2-3 years.
Twitter –Inactive since 25th April 2016.
Facebook – Inactive since 18th March 2014.
Whitepaper: - FAILED
• Whitepaper available: No
Team: - FAILED
• Team information available: No

Trade volume was undecided at the time of review. It was the rest of the evaluation that caused it to be delisted.

So who controls the social media sites for devcoin? Facebook? twitter? reddit?
Was there not a whitepaper for devcoin?

basically they worry the size of the community based on members in the social media groups (telegram chat, discord, twitter followers etc) are too low and there is no community here to warrent listing dvc.

This is mostly because dvc has had devtome and here to keep track of updates etc and there has not been a big social media push to get members to join etc.

If the numbers in the social media groups is correctly reflected from the community here then there is a chance they will consider relisting dvc on altilly.

So community members please sign up, follow, join all the following dvc official channels:

Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/devcoin/
Telegram: https://t.me/Devcoins
Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheDevcoin
Discord: https://discord.io/devcoin
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Devcoin-1384277851835204/

Can we get a breakdown of who controls these also in case any updates are needed or who can make posts and are they still active here? otherwise we might have to open up another official channel or account for something.

Is there a whitepaper anywhere for dvc? @markm did u have anything?

We could also do with a page on the devcoin.org site of the "Team" and their roles etc.

any chance we can update the first post here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=233997.0 as all these links are outdated and no longer active.

Is there a whitepaper anywhere for dvc?

Well I think even Litecoin referenced Bitcoin's whitepaper?
https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf

So, just some explanations on how Devcoin differs from Bitcoin should be enough:

https://github.com/devcoin/core

https://www.devtome.com/devcoin

We could also do with a page on the devcoin.org site of the "Team" and their roles etc.

Yeah just update the relevant info if it's not updated already.
If above two links don't explain all the differences between those coins, then a standalone devtome page which lists all the differences should be created?

That is Devcoin's whitepaper in a very old-style wiki fashion, yet it defines Devcoin very well.

We could also do with a page on the devcoin.org site of the "Team" and their roles etc.

https://www.devtome.com/devcoin_human_resources

And this is our new facebook page:

The info given from Antilly is very detailed, and far more than I expected to see from them. It does two things for me personally:

1) Makes it a lot easier to gauge what they are looking for and what DVC needs to help come back on the map/dominate
2) Builds trust in them since they are clearly doing their research

Now, one part that I found a little backwards is the shop info. One of their negatives is that there aren't many/any stores accepting DVC right now, but part of that reason could just as easily be that it's not as liquid right now and shops of most types have their own expenses (i.e., if I'm selling phones at a 5% markup, I still need to get that 95% from somewhere to pay for the phone and restock. If I can't sell any of the coins on an exchange, I can't viably run a business).

Yes Ranlo that was my take from the feedback from altilly, great to see what dvc needs to do and good sign altilly is good exchange and doing due research into each coin.

Regarding the stores accepting DVC, I think this is specifically related to the first post on this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=233997.0 with the places listed accepting dvc as payment.. they are all out of date and dead thus that looks bad so this should be cleaned up if possible or lets start new official thread?

Also there has been no work to get dvc integrated into a multi crypto payment gateway provider. Don't forget they are reviewing all cryptocurrencies like this and payment gateways are a huge step in opening up the coin to non crypto businesses etc. For example https://b2binpay.com/en/cryptocurrencies/coins/

Agreed though one reason could be there are no stores accepting dvc because there is no exchange to buy and sell dvc. But they are taking a risk with each coin listing that it could be a scam or worse and damage the exchange itself.  I have seen it in the past where a coins foundation offer an online shop with token items (coffee mugs, hats, stickers etc all with the crypto logo on it and purchase can be done in btc and the crypto thus offering a place to spend. Is there anything stopping dvc setting up and offering such a shop? It was done in the past as an incentive to mine the coins and give you something physical for the electricity bill and speculation for the miner but has more value now as a sign of the community and support behind the coin in the eyes of exchanges and the public.

A long time ago I looked into getting logos printed on tshirts, hat, mugs, stickers, keychains etc and would not take much cash investment to produce the actual products and stockpile goods for store once you have designs all sorted and ready. (Note this was done in the PPC community and they spent far too long and much money redesigning the logo and rebranding and would not recommend) just take the current dvc logo and drop on a sticker and get 100 printed up in various sizes etc.  This also opens the question of does anyone have the dvc official logo in a high res image and various formats (white background, transparent background, one with text devcoin, one with just logo) and these should be in one place available on devtome or devcoin.org for marketing use and such. Would anyone here want to buy something with their dvc? if so what?

I got this shirt printed year ago. I don't like graphic tees so I kept it simple.

@FuzzyBear, I though I've been clear but here we go again:

1. "there is no exchange to buy and sell dvc" FALSE. We have Freiexchange to BUY, and Stellar DEX to BUY and SELL. See: https://www.devcoin.org/get-devcoin.html (Click "Buy Devcoins"). There are DVC pairs against BTC, ETH, LTC, XRP, USD and plenty of Galactic Milieu tokens
2. "Is there anything stopping dvc setting up and offering such a shop?" NO. DVC tokens on stellar platform are e-commerce enabled. See shopify stellar integration: https://stellarpay.io/documentation/shopify/shopify-xlm-integration/
3. Devcoin is not just a Bitcoin fork any longer. Everybody, please, get up to date on what you can do with Stellar and DVC tokens

Last but not least, DVC tokens are getting more and more trading volume on our current exchanges: Stellar DEX and Freeiexchange. Market makers are welcome to join the party. Later you can't tell me I didn't let you know early!

Go go Devcoin!
