There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

It's okay for now. There was a shorter fork of about 50 blocks. I will look into the cause of that.

This type of situation is why the maturity is set at 3200 blocks. Currently the block rate on the network is very fast before difficulty catches up. So higher orphan rate is expected.

How long does it usually take for a transaction to appear in your wallet?

I keep debating this based on my experience so far, and I can't come to an answer.

Is raw pps the key to mining, or number of instances?

In the beginning, it seemed like after a pretty long wait for initial blocks, they started coming in in a fairly random dispersion.... the machines with much higher pps rates definetly got more blocks than the ones with lesser rates, but not at all in a linear fashion.

So my question is, would people expect to see greater block generation from a single process getting 1200 pps, or 3 instances each getting 400 pps?

Any thoughts?

It seems logical that it's absolutely the same. Although only the developer of the coin may be 100% positive on that.

There appears to be a network fork at block#14214 just now. Please run this command

getblockhash 14215
and report your current block number

It would be logical for it to be absolutely the same if we were mining in pools. We're not. There's also a tremendous amount of luck involved, hence my question of whether the pure pps rate is key, or the number of instances available to make a lucky find...

Who knows, it could be a 1000x speedup. I would be careful before saying it's rubbish. Compile and see.

I have obtained about a 25x speed up from updating.
