Personally I'm enjoying CEX.io/GHash.io especially since they now have automatic NMC, IXC, DVC merged mining.

I've been just using the NMC to buy GH/s from their hosted trading...

This is a little off topic, but since we're all just waiting at the moment anyway... have you had any problems with Ghash.io? I like the merged mining, and no pool fee, so I'm giving thought to switching over when my Drillbits arrive. But in searching the forums I've found a number of rather recent accusations of them screwing around with payments. What's your experience like?

Did I help you out, or otherwise say something useful? A handful of satoshis are a great way to say thanks! - Address: 18JUKdmE1Satf8HJUU3pf7iu5ymQX8AzER

Running two thumbs here

Thumb1: 1.93Gh/s
Thumb2: 2.15Gh/s

Both running stock, any overclocking at all leads to significant hardware errors (20-100%) on one, but still barely any on the other.

The lower one gets HW errors regularly at the default settings anyway, though raising the voltage to 950mv gets rid of pretty much all of the HW errors until there's seriously heavy overclocking done.

Anyone know the thermal limitations of these? Are the maximum available overclocking settings considered electrically 'safe'? (eg, can't harm the chip unless it actually overheats?)

Also is there stats on how hot the heat sinks should get? (Or how high they could be expected to get while the chip is still 'safe' thermally?

My chips at stock get their heatsinks to about 40°C-42°C with only the passive heatsink, though with active cooling they stay at 25°C. Passive cooling on overclock went up to 62°C at which point I promptly turned it back to stock. (Active stayed around the 30°C mark)

Haven't run these overclocked for more than a few minutes for testing until someone from Drillbit can provide the thermal limitations or provide clarification of first question (If the max values with --drillbit-options are safe other than thermal issues)

Thanks,

This is a little off topic, but since we're all just waiting at the moment anyway... have you had any problems with Ghash.io? I like the merged mining, and no pool fee, so I'm giving thought to switching over when my Drillbits arrive. But in searching the forums I've found a number of rather recent accusations of them screwing around with payments. What's your experience like?

The only issue I had with payments was mainly due to MultiBit screwing up, so nothing related to CEX.io/Ghash.io. I've been using the service since 10/25 and receive daily payouts. After they enabled the shareholder feature it's been my favorite, just because I can send % percent of payout to different addresses.

Granted, last I checked, they didn't have any 'safety' on if you %'s totaled up more than 100%, which is very very easily done, especially on a web-form, so I don't know why it wasn't there, but they could have corrected it by now. So, granted if someone really sucked at math and the %'s were greater than 100%, then I could see that screwing up something.

Their website goes down from time-to-time, which so far hasn't effected mining or payouts, if it does effect mining, they reimburse you for it. So, over all pretty sweet deal imo...

Since they implemented an additional server (us1.ghash.io:3333) I use that server and ns1.ghash.io:3334 as a backup, then I have a few other pools as backups to those, but so far, it's never needed to use the backup pools.

PM them so they can update. At least then you don't find out they forgot you. The list is only a formality, recieving the product is truth.

I thought one and two were merged and in the same list.

I'm just hoping to get my order in my hands next week... I leave for a ten day vacation next weekend, and I'd REALLY like to leave these little beauties hashing away while I'm gone.

Haven't been up for a long time, haven't catch up yet.
So now...what power supply should I get? And microusb cables?
Anything else? Is it a must to use fan cooling?

And...just to put an update if possible as I have paid shipping Cheesy thanks!

Will be handling Drillbit System UK/EU replacement components soon (waiting to confirm details, stay tunes)
If I helped you and could pop me some treats for this Christmas, donate some BTC to: 1QEhKaUnFoEBaWmXsrE5AUvbAt95254DXr

Hey all.

Sorry for not posting sooner. Been very swamped. The boards have been made and getting tested at the factory now. We should see them shipping very soon. I had really hoped that this would have happened quicker but unfortunately not. I'm sorry guys, its killing me. But the boards do now exist. If there was anyway i could speed things up i would. I am endlessly nagging the guys in china for updates, "are they done yet? are they done yet?", but i guess they can only move so fast.

To clarify on the postage, the thumbs have all gone out already, shipped from Australia. They are wending their way to you as we speak. Decided its better to send them now rather than wait for the boards, so if you ordered both thumbs and boards, you will be getting them separately. As for the boards, all U.S. orders will go to Bobsag from China and he will ship them from there. All other orders will come here to Sydney and be shipped out. I am ready to roll on the shipping the minute the boards arrive.

As for the settings on the thumbs, yes the allowable settings are electrically sound. You won't destroy your device tweaking those parameters but be careful with the temperature. I highly recommend putting a fan on the thumbs too. It makes a big difference to the heat. I have a few running here with fans and they are hardly hot at all. And i would also recommend 950mV. Seems to make them run much more stably.

The second i have word on the movement of the boards i will let you know. Good news is, with Bitcoin skyrocketing, these boards will definitely ROI. Hooray.

So realistically we're looking at delivery no earlier than 12/2?

Just trying to figure out when I should take a day off for delivery and setup...

Aww, but by 12/2 I'll be in Hawaii, and my boards will be sitting at home with my roommate wondering what's in the box. I wonder if I can successfully walk her through setting them up from the other side of the planet... C'mon China, pick up the pace!

Best to just take the week off.  Cheesy
Thankfully I have my own business.  Which sometimes bites and other times is sweet.  Like on delivery day!

Do the eight chip Drillbits have any kind of hardware/software temperature monitoring built in?  What is the upper limit of the thermal specs on the chips?

Thanks!

Chad
