Any chance of an increased hashrate for the X1 and X3?

Doubtfull imo. Lets just hope they actually end up pumping out a product.

I skimmed through the recent discussion and did not see an update from Blackarrow. Can someone re-post the latest update from Blackarrow? I am hoping the April/May shipping is still a possibility (even if remote).

As per David105396 on the eCoin Talk forum:

"I am very confident that the deadline [of May 1st] will be made and shipping will start on time. I will personally vouch for this. "

I hope this is the case! But we heard everything was on time until the end of January the last time. We'll see...

Tape out was February 23. The fabrication process takes just under 2 months from what I've seen/read.
Chips have to be packaged which can take a week or so, then of course they have to be tested.

I've requested a refund via email over a week ago for my order and have gotten no response.  I opened a ticket on their website and they closed it with no response.  Has anyone managed to get a BTC refund from them?  How long did it take?  What method did you use to get a response from them?

full mask of 28nm takes ~80 days. from there, chips are packaged and sent to the rig builder.. there they have to be built, packaged, burned-in and tested.
i'll let you work it out.

How long did it take them with the 65nm?  Like, three months after the chips were supposed to leave the foundry?  Probably won't take that long for the current kick at the can, but considering all the lessons BFL has learned since this is their second ASIC, you could probably take 3 months as a best-case bet.

"We trust that Bitcoin mining will be profitable in May as well or all the Bitcoin mining will stop. The online profitability calculators are wrong just because nobody in the right mind will keep doubling the hashrate of the network every month if they are loosing money. The hashrate of the network will keep growing only if the bitcoin value goes up again. For this reason and because we provide the lowest prices possible we do not think that our miners will have a negative return of investment. However, we understand that you might not agree with us and we'll offer you the refund if you decide to go ahead with it."

Difficulty jumped by about a billion Saturday.

First a little bit of chartism for the serious investors  Grin lol

If you make a quick analysis of the Bitcoin chart the price has a strong support in the zone between 370 and 400 $ (the lost of this support means the price will drop deep to the bottom) in the other hand the next resistance is first the 560 $ (200 days moving average) and after that the zone of 600 $ if the price can break this resistance in the next days/weeks we will see the beginning of a bullish trend. In my opinion this option is more probable but of course I can be wrong.

Second."nobody in the right mind will keep doubling the hashrate of the network every month if they are loosing money. The hashrate of the network will keep growing only if the bitcoin value goes up again." I think this is only half true because when the price go down a lot of orders remains undelivered (same if the price go up) so the network difficulty don't follow the BTC price in real time but with a lot of delay.

There are too many people outside which have free electricity or just can not calculate  Roll Eyes

It's not just as simple as that. Many people are speculating that BTC will increase in value as it continues to become more popular. For .893 BTC they can get a device that should get 10% "interest" in a several months and still have intrinsic value to them or someone else (to sell). They DO NOT think in fiat. They don't have to sell BTC to pay their electric bill, nor would they, because they believe it will turn into the million dollar pizza deal again at some point. Why did you pay BTC for electricity when you could buy a car with that much BTC today (5-10 years later, for example)? At any rate, that 10% "interest" on a BTC investment even before a hardware resale is better than putting cash or even BTC in a bank at 0.4% or 0% interest, which is below the point of inflation.

By making this statement, BA demonstrates that they don't understand the mindset of speculators, which includes their customers. It doesn't matter if you or I agree with this 100% or not. The fact remains that many people mining believe it, and mining won't stop unless and until the value of Bitcoin drops back to near nothing with no hopes of ever recovering.
