VE you are actually embarrassing yourself now. Quite pathetic.

There is nothing we don't know about Ken, what are you on about? Do you want to know his shoe size or what?

  • An order of Avalon chips from steamboat's batch #1, for 68 Klondike-16 boards, rated at 68*16*282 = 307 GH/s;

I guess it's "something"

So we got a refund on our Avalon chips didn't we? So what chips will we be putting onto these boards? Either we have some Avalon chips or something else?

do your own research in this company you believe in so much.  the ordered avalon chips were to build avalon clones.  these klondikes come with chips.

Thanks for the update Ken.   Smiley

While it's a small victory it's a victory none the less. Rome wasn't built in a day and these klondikes will give the company an opportunity to hone their skills in preparation for scaling up the operation.

I have no shame in sharing my optimistic view on things even though I get shot down relentlessly by the trolls.

After all, as Helen Keller once said, "Optimism is the faith that leads to achievment.  Nothing can be done without hope and confidence. "

Asking the question was part of my research. So where does it say these boards come with chips? I'd prefer to see a believable source rather than believe some smart arse on here.

Lots of posts on the Klondike thread mentioning seperately sourced chips, so what's the deal finlof?

Very, very cool. Nice work guys.

Even though I refunded my chips, I'm still glad to see progress on the boards. After following the thread for so long, it'll be nice to know the design is working, even if I never see any.

Fixed that for you. Maybe you should learn to spell, punctuate and use grammar correctly before you try being smart on here and correcting other peoples spelling?

I am officially making the offer -- donate the hash power to a hobo on the street and I will supply the missing dividends every week to shareholders without any depreciation due to network growth.  This is a win win, Ken, maybe you can redeem yourself here.. better take me up on this
you can actually go right now to http://avalon-asics.com/shop/ and buy over 400gh/s (either 4 of the 4 module or 8 of the 2 module (i would recommend the 2 module because they are already overclocked to the max and no need to replace the power supply)) to be delivered within a week for 48BTC.  i wonder what the cost was/is on those klondikes

OK as finlof has gone back under his rock (Edit - he's back horay!) I'll stick my neck out again and ask about the Klondikes.

I've read the first few pages of BkkCoins thread and the last few. He started the Klondike project but doesn't seem to have been around for a month, maybe more. So there are other developers in charge now. Anyway  chips have been put on these boards but there were firmware issues as recently as two days ago which were giving 20% errors - a big deal. But now the code has been sorted.

Hi all,

The firmware issue was found and fixed a few hours ago!   I've confirmed it on my test unit as have others.  ZERO HW errors and over 5gh/s @350MHz.  The K16's are a go!

I think there will be some code cleanup, boot loader and a few other more minor things yet, but I suspect all the assemblers will start pumping them out now.

And it's only recently that Steamboat has had his chips running successfully on a Klondike - he sent the news by email I can't find it on the thread to date this email.

So is Steamboat sending out Klondikes with his Avalon clones attatched? It's the only conclusion I can see. If not Ken is putting the chips on?

It's not a big issue, hasn't been in a long time since the difficulty went mental, these boards if they are not hashing above 307GH will make us 4btc a week. Not each no.

Hey Mr finlof, instead of chatting with the most annoying Troll on this thread why don't you answer Minerpart on his Klondikes board question.

Apparently you know where they are coming from and who is putting the chips on? Where did you see that again?

You've had about an hour and a half to to find out now but you are still silent.

listen guys (or girls, or trannys or whatever you want to be)...  some of us work and dont just sit with one hand on the f5 key and one hand... well let's not talk about that cause i might get my post deleted.

DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.  it's as easy as putting the word klondike in the search field at the top right of this page and clicking search.  one can deduce with relatively high certainty that these are coming ASSEMBLED as the payment for the boards and to have them assembled was paid back in june or july (remember these were supposed to be completed and delivered back in July...).  seriously guys if i still had close to 100k shares in this company and i didnt know answers to questions like this that would make me a REALLY BAD INVESTOR.  luckily i dont have those shares anymore so no worries.

believe me when i say that i hope all this works out for anyone who has $ invested.  i dont want people to lose money, whether i like them or not.  but if you lose because you put a bunch of money into something that you dont really know about, i'm not going to feel sorry for you when you complain that things didnt happen according to original plan or didnt go how you wanted.

if i were still invested i would also ask if ACtM's current avalons have fully populated boards (4 each) and are running at the highest speed available (close to 120gh/s).  a simple 1200 watt power supply upgrade may be needed to do the trick.  if they arent fully populated, additional boards can be purchased for 2.5BTC/each to get up to the max hash (they've been available on this website for a couple weeks now i believe, and i've already purchased 2 of the 4-module units and resold them for close to double my money).  these 6 avalons currently hashing "should" be providing around 700gh/s.

Ah ok, so my information is accurate:

20k chips already paid for
The 68 boards, at 16 chips per, 1088 chips and assembly paid for
Now the coming expense on the quote with the Engineering firm for the remaining chips to be assembled onto the Avalon clone boards

Is the above accurate?
Yes

We have 68 Klondikes ordered with full assembly which is ~306 GH/s, we are ~3rd customer in batch 1.

Here is an email from steamboat.

Quote
Chip status:
Batch 1 and 2 have arrived, and have been sent to the assembly house. Those with a chip only order will be sent an email shortly confirming their information. Shipping will be provided free of charge for all chip only purchases.

Assembly status:
We have successfully determined the source of the hardware issues, as well as a portion of the software/firmware conflicts, and are now hashing on all 16 chips at 4.6-4.8GH/s, at 350mhz. We are still receiving high hardware error rates, which we believe is a combination of the on board PIC and suboptimal firmware, and are in the process of optimizing the driver to reduce the error rates. Overclocking testing has also shown the thermal vias were not being fully filled due to the way they were designed. The assembly house has developed a two-step process to address this, and will be ready to assemble today pending final verification after we have tested and approved the process. During testing the 3.3v regulator was operating over spec, using more amps than it is rated for. While the unit functions and the component appears to be stable, we have chosen to replace it in order to ensure there are no failures during extended long term operation.

There are several firmware issues which need to be addressed before the units are ready for end use. The first priority is a USB bootloader. This is necessary to flash the units with firmware updates via USB without the need for additional hardware and software. Additionally, there is an issue with cgminer which does not allow multiple units to be connected to the same instance without severe performance degradation. This is not essential to shipping the units so long as the USB bootloader is properly programmed, but does increase the amount of time required to test the units as the ktest utility remains unfinished. We are also working on auto-serialization code to allow us to step-program the units with a unique serial number without the need to rebuild the hex file for each board. Lowest on the priority list is I2C implementation to allow chaining between boards. While it greatly reduces the amount of USB cables and hubs necessary to connect multiple units, it is not necessary for the unit to function.

Sorry it blew my mind that these "supporters" of ActM since the beginning can't even remember what is or was being done by their beloved company.

Hopefully my post helps people that don't have the time to look up everything as well.

Why all this discussion about 300GH/s - 400GH/s?

I am hoping that we get the prototype miner online hashing at several TH/s before we even get this old "Klondike" board.
