Good work Freetrade. This should be the most GPU resistant coin on the market. Someday a GPU miner will probably appear, but it's more difficult to develop in comparison to Primecoin or Quarkcoin.

p.s.

Freetrade, I hope you did read my reply to your PM in time.

Unless GPUs get terrabytes of memory after some centuries... no.

So when would launch be EST? For some reason I can never get time conversions right.
We share time zones! 9 AM EST
FYI Eastern daylight time (summer) = UTC - 4 hrs
EST (winter) = UTC - 5 hrs  Smiley

MemoryCoin-qt.exe will be available at launch, with source code shortly after. Weird - why not to provide both same time? Unless you want windows miners to get a bit more Smiley

MemoryCoin-qt.exe will be available at launch, with source code shortly after.

This is obviously somewhat unfair to everyone not using that ridiculous NSA-backdoored american operating system.

We need source so we can compile it for our favorite **nix flavor.

No real reason to provide the source later, this starts feeling like a scam now.

I know it's difficult for a newcomer to keep up with all the new scam coins here, but you should educate yourself a little before doing this accusations.

Oh god, bitcointalk will have to add more servers in order to handle my ignore list :O

And BTW, I guess it's not that big of an issue to  have the source after the launch, if the difficulty adjustment works as intended and the block rewards of the first 48h are low as designed.
My main concerns are to encounter compilation issues which is likely for coins that introduce new features or new PoW like this one.

Would someone be kind enough to provide a step-by-step solo mining guide for us newbs?

I'd really like to get in on this coin and promote the hell out of it, but that's kinda hard to do when mining is so complex.

And, if someone does write up a guide, please go into as much detail as possible!  Grin

Thanks, guys, and I wish you all the best with MemoryCoin!  Wink

We had some issues when releasing the source for ProtoShares a little early, with some people compiling it and mining blocks before the genesis time. Just want to avoid that. When I say the source will be available shortly after, I mean within a few hours of launch.

The compilation shouldn't give any issues - if you're able to compile ProtoShares, this should go smoothly. The only potential issue might be the encryption AES-NI instruction set - I'm compiling against openssl-1.0.1e but it's likely any version after 1.0 will work.

And why don't you lay out the most compiled version under Windows? ? ? ? ? ? ? I for example have certain problems with compilation.

I still see no reason to release the source later and compiled code first. Why not release everything once at a time? Maybe not a big issue because of the lower payout of the first blocks but i would always wait for the source. Too many trojans, zero day exploits and similar stuff around every corner of the net  Grin.

Apology I commented so close to launch. You PM'ed me but you didn't point me to the design change. And I just had a moment to go searching for that thread.
