Would it be possible to generate charts for

* "My Wallet active users" - users that at least did one transaction (send or receive) in the last 30 days
* "My Wallet users with saving accounts" - user that have an account with > 0.01 BTC

Also it would be interesting to have the equivalent of "number of transactions excluding popular addresses" for My Wallet users.

With this data it should be possible to give a good estimation about the active number of users in the Bitcoin universe.

Love your site. Thank you!

A suggestion for a new chart:

My Wallet Number of Active Users

Definition:

The number of my wallet users who sent or received BTCitcoin in the past week.

This will give a much clearer picture of changes in usage on an aggregate basis.

Thank you in advance for considering it.  Smiley

Never have coins sent to an address before you get a wallet backup email.

Please force HTTPS in the website by default
Smiley

Consider using Firefox's plugin HTTPS finder. It automatically checks if the website supports HTTPS and enforces it,

I just tried chromes extension "https everywhere". It doesn't switch to https for blockchain.info.

damn!

some key syncing problem? Have you been offline when you generated the key?

Is it similar to the problem I had a while back with the blockchain iOS wallet?

guys, be careful.

When the device is offline and you generate a new address, this address will most likely be lost. The app doesn't store it locally. Neither does it sync the address to the server later, when network comes back.

I tried several times and this truly is the case.

see my post here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=40264.msg841810#msg841810

see post(s) above that one for an answer from piuk.

The app shouldn't even display the address to a key that hasn't been synced to server?

Piuk please solve this if it is like I suspect. It's not hard to solve, is it? At least display a warning: "key to this address not synced to server!".

Although such suggestions make sense especially for large sums like that, everything the app can possibly do to avoid such mishaps should be done. There It is no excuse to tell the user to tighten his practices. Users will do dumb things, count on it.

Christ that's unbelievable.  Just like bitcoind's initial unencrypted wallets, I don't understand how devs can be so dumb / shortsighted.  This is people's money and savings you're fucking with guys.

it remains to be seen what exactly happened.

EDIT: maybe someone who's using the android app can try to reproduce what happened with the iOS app back then:

ok, I came up with a better reproduction of above-mentioned problem:

  • start blockchain client on phone, have it sync
  • go to settings, turn on airplane mode
  • generate a new address (you will get at least 2 sync errors, yet address is generated)
  • write down the firstbits of that address
  • open your web-browser on your pc and go to the wallet corresponding to your iOS wallet
  • generate an new address
  • on your iOS device, turn off airplane mode
  • switch to blockchain client wait for sync and watch your address disappear
  • look for that address in your online wallet, you will not find it.

I really love this client and I hope piuk can do something to fix this. Here are some ideas:

  • at least mark addresses that are not synced to server clearly as "non-synced", as the online wallet does
  • display a big fat warning before showing the qr-code of an un-synced address
  • to mitigate this problem, maybe pre-generate some addresses and hide them. Instead of generating a new address, un-hide one from this pool and refill the pool

What you need is not https everywhere, but HTTPS FINDER

What we need is admins switching HTTPS by default so newbies dont get phised.

Indeed; I was not defending blockchain.info. I myself lost about 1 BTC using this method, but back then there was no app and bitcoin was $5.

I created a new project called Bitty, you can find more about it on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=252913.0.
Maybe you'll add Bitty support, like sending Bitcoin into Bitty on My Wallet and adding bitty into My Wallet account.
For any questions, contact me at eladkr85@me.com.
