I dont know how much longer I can hold these things.
Better to just sell and move on.

Interesting campaign of fear and selling on here and on the /r/vertcoin sub. Almost seems organized...
Well I'm off to buy. Buy when people are selling, sell when people are buying.

Yes, because people pointing out certain things which dont align with your interests is an organized campaign. Chasing losses is a real thing Bristow, and it usually doesnt end well.

I'm fine with people making their own choices. Following what they feel is right. I just don't understand the draw of talking about how bad something is. If you feel that way why not do yourself a favor and remove yourself from the situation. Again I have nothing against people selling and I'm not going to try to convince them now to. It's their own prerogative.
However if those people come to a public forum to try to vindicate their decision by trash talking or otherwise attempting to bring something down I just don't get it. If you're passionate about something or feel it's a good investment put your money and time into growing it. If you feel at some point your views have changed sell and leave. Why waste energy lingering over something you have nothing invested in.
What's the upside of actively trying to trash a coin? What does one gain by spending time on something they don't have anything invested in? Seriously it's like If I were to pick a random company or stock I have nothing invested in and went to their public forum to talk about how bad it is. WTF would I waste my time doing that?

Every new algorithm is asic-resistant because it's new. The authors of Lyra2 have an extremely closed mindset. I would be very careful in judging the algorithm resistance. What I can say however is that VTC on Lyra2 will be ASIC-proof for a long time. The major point being the aggregated market cap of all Lyra2 coins (VTC only) will be not enough to justify investment.
If Lyra2 happens to be using memory as the paper suggests (20MiB per hash) then a standard ASIC design is just inefficient. Companies will need to develop a hybrid "ASIC accelerated" chip instead. This is a massive amount of R&D. Considering how much they took for Scrypt, I don't see any way for this to happen. Let's talk about that again a couple of years from now.

It is a good time to buy. How ASIC resistant is the new algorithm? From the Vertcoin devs:- "Lyra2 improves on Scrypt by offering separate control over memory and processing difficulty where in Scrypt they are tightly coupled. This level of control is important when reacting to specialized hardware that comes to market." The key point is "memory control". Having control on memory usage will make it more 'expensive' or not financially viable to manufacture specialised processing devices eg ASICs.

If a lot of coins happen to choose Lyra2, you might see an acceleration in time before we see announcement on ASICs for this algo. If only a few coins choose it, the only thing the community will have to worry about is the dump of multipool and the lack of buy support.

We can only make the efficiency not to be so high compared to CPU or GPU.

That's what the devs are trying to do.

Bullshit. ASICs have been pushed out from 3D graphics. Every new generation of GPUs grown less and less ASIC-ey over the years. I assume none of you ever played a video game. That's very odd.

Its group think psychology the same reason most people watch the news... simply to reasert there own beliefs.. they are hard wired to run with the herd and will even actively "police" dissenters. Don't be to hard on them they don't even know they are doing it.

Oh and im all in what would be the point of selling now for a bit of chump change when Lyra2 is just round the corner? At this point im fearless it very well may of been a bad investment on my part but thats why you dont put all your eggs in one basket... only time will tell

I appreciate there are still some people here but it would still be nice to hear confirmation that devs are still working on the new algo. We haven't heard from anyone in over a month. I'd think at LEAST a monthly update is the minimum we could ask for. It's kind of ridiculous the devs don't interact with the community imo.
