Cryptocurrency Joins the $100 Billion Industry Club - Dash Force News

Cryptocurrencies, on an impressive victory march, are now collectively worth more than $100 billion.

Headed by a growth spurt in Bitcoin from $42 billion Monday to $48 billion on Tuesday, the value of blockchain assets combined crossed the 12-figure line this week. The top three assets combined, Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, represent over $80 billion of that total.

BitCart Removes “Extremely Problematic” Bitcoin, Enables Dash Only
Bitcoin's extremely slow transaction confirmations and settlement speeds were crippling BitCart’s service.
Irish gift card platform BitCart has announced its decision to disable Bitcoin from its platform and accept Dash orders only. This comes in the wake of extremely slow bitcoin transaction confirmations and settlement speeds, which were “crippling the company’s ability to provide a 24 hour turnaround to its customers.”
Diaz added: “Dash is expanding at a rapid pace as the network promotes itself in ways that are only possible in a self funded decentralized organization. As more and more people learn about Dash, services like Bitcart will grow in popularity and it’s great to see companies in the ecosystem do well as this invites other businesses to also adopt Dash.” More

What I Learned Spending Only Dash At a Local Market

Last weekend I went to a monthly local market in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I got a haircut, a chili cheese dog and nachos, a gemstone-in-bullet casing necklace, a couple of craft brews, and a yearlong meat and vegetables plan from a local organic farm. And I paid for everything in Dash. This is what I learned.

Strange I thought I had you on ignore. Wanting to buy back cheaper I presume?  Wink

In fact Dash is still near its all time high against the US dollar. And holding up pretty well against bitcoin considering bitcoins own moves.

Posted a couple of charts on quizzies price speculation thread.

That's exactly how I see things happening.
Bitcoin is killing itself with their scaling issue and core dev focus on value instead currency and force the merchants to look for alternatives.
If they come across DASH and it is working like a charm as you expect it from a digital currency: instant fast cheap and reliable.. how can they not switch?

Dash is much faster indeed and BTC is problematic, but before btc dev team fixes blocks size (and still 10 min blocks is slow). It is nice that many years ago when the darkcoin was started ppl already realized that fast confirmations are very important...

Yes, instantsend is pretty darn amazing, and shows the strength in how the two-tiered network works! Wink

I noticed bitgild.com (seems to) accept Dash for payment when buying precious metals. Haven't tried it yet, curious if anyone has ?

I'm quite interested in the idea of bypassing fiat if I want to buy some gold or silver.

Also are there any possibilities of getting Dash as an option on bitpay ? From my experience bitpay seems to be the most common used method of payment via bitcoin.

Look forward to details on this, afbitcoins. We've been interested in this angle for years, and it is problematic: high premiums, the risks of international postage.

Our approach has been to try to convince an Australian bullion dealer -- we're Australian -- to accept a crypto. So far, no success -- but if you visit my farmhouse, I'll buy and sell (token amounts of) DASH for silver.

Excellent Meetup yesterday in Munich, Germany.
Great presentation by Balu. Around 100 people at Deloitte office, very nice event and lots of new people who got interested in DASH.
He wasn't even asked about the Instamine, so he had to tell the story by himself  Cheesy

Also do the developers have the power to increase the supply of dash, I am really interested in Dash, Just want to confirm few things before i jump in.

1) The masternodes could vote to increase the supply of Dash, but in order to implement such a change, the developers would have to create the code. Then the entire network (exchanges, miners, and 90+% of all masternodes) would have to adopt the new code. Such a change would be extremely difficult, probably impossible, to implement. For one, 90+% of the masternodes are unlikely to ever agree.

2) The developers have the power to create code which, if adopted, would increase the supply of Dash. However, the entire network would have to adopt the code (see above).

tl;dr Nobody or group by themselves has the power to increase the supply of Dash. Increasing the supply of Dash would be just as difficult as increasing the supply of Bitcoin, for example. The entire network would have to agree and adopt new code.

Is Your Cryptocurrency Handicapped? - Dash Force News

Everyone recognizes that Bitcoin – and blockchain technologies in general – have scalability issues. But what if Bitcoin, by its very design, can only address half the problem?

Imagine an alternate reality. It’s 1996. Larry Page and Sergey Brin are working hard at Stanford to create a better search engine – one that can be used the world over. They create Google, and it quickly becomes one of the most popular search engines in use. But they institute the following requirement: Google’s software can only run on servers owned and operated by volunteers. These volunteers will not be compensated in any way, but they will be able to perform slightly faster searches since they host Google nodes.
