The Coming Crypto Resurrection

Evan is living in Hong Kong and heading up Dash Labs. He is working on open source hardware for masternodes and miners that will decrease centralization and increase transaction capacity.

Hi guys, I'm a Dash enthusiast since 2 - 3 years. With all the development, integrations, new features and public appearance - Why is the Dash Price still so connected to the Bitcoin price and how can we change it?

A big problem is that it's still difficult to purchase dash in any large quantity without first buying bitcoin with fiat on one exchange and then moving the coins to another crypto-only exchange such as Poloniex where the BTC can be traded for dash.  This is called in finance "liquidity". Bitcoin is more liquid.

In the U.S., You can buy Dash directily through a service called uphold.com, but they limit the maximum purchase to $500/day. At that rate it will take years to accumulate enough for a masternode, and if the price rises enough it may never be possible.

The obvious way to change it is for more exchanges to allow direct dash to fiat and fiat to dash sales.

The other way is for more online vendors and brick-and-motor business to accept dash for payment.  We need to eliminate the need for conversion to bitcoin and ultimately the need for conversion to fiat. This is known as the chicken-and-egg problem.  Liquid commodities are widely accepted for trade because they can be re-traded to others.  Nobody wants to build the infrastructure if the commodity isn't being used and nobody wants to use the commodity if there is no infrastructure to support it. Dash as an advantage with this over other cryptocurrencies in the form of community support willing to bootstrap acceptance and a treasury to help integrate vendors and educate the public.

MailChimp Bans Cryptocurrency Ads

MailChimp joins Google, Facebook and Twitter in banning cryptocurrency related advertising on their platform.

The mass email marketing manager, MailChimp, announced on March 29 that they intend to ban any “businesses involved in any aspect of the sale, transaction, exchange, storage, marketing or production of cryptocurrencies, virtual currencies, and any digital assets related to an Initial Coin Offering.” The company quickly received backlash from users and the online community blaming MailChimp for censorship. MailChimp defended its position saying they needed to prevent “scams, fraud, phishing, and potentially misleading business practices” from being facilitated through their platform.

However, MailChimp said that they will not ban all cryptocurrency related information and that “as long as the sender isn’t involved in the production, sale, exchange, storage, or marketing of cryptocurrencies”, emails can still be sent. MailChimp elaborated that this includes discussion of cryptocurrencies by journalists and publications, but did not elaborate further on how the platform intends to differentiate between the two.

Dash Venezuela Making Great Headway in Caracas, Hosting Sixth and Seventh Conferences

Last month, the Dash Venezuela team requested and received funding from the network to host a sixth conference in Caracas, Venezuela. The conference will take place on March 31 and the facility has room for up to 600 attendees. Additionally, the Dash Venezuela team has been invited to speak at another event called “Help! There’s cryptocurrency in my soup!” According to Dash Venezuela’s project manager, Eugenia Alcala, that event will have
