Anyone know why this is happening?  Trying to get a MN going.  Darkcoind starts (I can see it running using the top command), I can watch the log run, but none of the darkcoind commands will work.  Just about a 60 second pause, then "error: couldn't connect to server".

WTF.

The masternode payment fork has been postponed until May 25th due to
some issues on testnet over the last couple of weeks. A few issues
have cropped up and we want the code to be more thoroughly vetted
before turning it on for mainnet. This is expected to take less than a
week, but to ensure we have enough time we've chosen May 25th.

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/postponing-masternode-payments-till-may-25th.578/#post-3427

Does this mean that the blockchain will be completely fogged using the masternodes still starting Wednesday?  Or only on the 25th?  Thanks Evan.

It's actually pretty foggy now. RC3 is the next big improvement to anonymity

I get that it's pretty foggy now.  Excellent work and innovation so far!

So, is the masternode network(the current nodes that are set up right now) being used at all up until the 25th?  Or is the activation of the masternode network included in the implementation of the "masternode payments" due out on May 25th?

Can someone please give us an answer to this?  Is the activation of the masternode network included in the implementation of hte "masternode payments" due out on may 25th?

Thanks

Right now, masternodes are functioning.  One is elected each round and if there is a darksend, it does it's work.  The only thing that isn't implemented is paying of the masternodes. Also, we're still limited to under 10 coins per DarkSend, and there is only one layer of mixing.

We are still getting an update to Dark Gravity Wave, which has had hiccups with some operating systems and the issue with having our wallets trying to pick up lightcoin's blockchain should be fixed as well.  This one was why people kept getting their blockchain stuck I believe Smiley

It seems like a great coin but those are things that can be done with other coins (already or very soon) why would someone go with DRK.

If someone can't figure it out for themselves, perhaps they should go with those "other coins", as they went for meme coins, country coins, and all kind of shitcoins. That ended up well...

Quote
DOn't get me wrong I have some DRK myself (very very few) but tell why someone should hold them more if this looks like a DUMP period ?

Why would you take advice from others on whether to buy, hold or dump when they have conflicting interests with you? I could tell you to sell and then buy your coins. Or I could tell you to buy and then dump you my coins. You have to make these decisions on your own.

Who asked you to decide for me ?

I just wanted a simple honest answer for a newbie like me but now I just think that you are just building a FAD kind of a mysterious atmosphere for you own good, so even if you say you are not going to influence me with your opinion you actual do.  So it would be better for all of us to just come out and say in what values of DRK coin you bieleve most so I can go and research them on my own otherwise you don't answer my question please.

WTF.

If this is a new wallet its probabaly downloading the block chain.

Try running this command:

   darkcoind getmininginfo

It will tell you what block its on, and should be going up, if everything is setup correctly.

You will release the source of the wallet, OK

- Will you release windows binaries?

- What algo?

- If it's not quark/scrypt/sha265/scrypt-jane ....   will you release a standalone miner (including source code) at the same time you release the wallet?

The miner is already open source and it run x11.

You say it looks like a dump period. Another might view it as a pump period with corrections. Another might see it as a steady rise. Each one has their own view. And there is no simple honest answer on things concerning future price. It's all speculation. If there was a straightforward answer that "yes, hold, it will rise, definitely", then everyone and their grandmother would buy because of guaranteed profit. And if people knew it would fall, they'd sell and buy back lower.

Few know what the price will do in the short-term, except the whales influencing the market in a big way. Long term, most of us are quite bullish in that we expect much higher prices based on the fundamentals.

I suggest you do that. My own belief can be compressed in the following: There is a dedicated dev who intends to give Bitcoin a run for its money. He has already created a coin which is superior to Litecoin in many regards and has the intent to work in introducing additional functionality as we go along. Do I need to spell out where DRK is > LTC? It's anonymous, safer (11 hashes instead of 1), scarcer, has a better inflation formula, a better diff adjustment, is more balanced in CPU/GPU mining and more energy-friendly in GPU mining. It's better protected from multipools due to its diff and inflation adjustment, it brings innovation with the 90+10% mining output to masternodes who operate as proof of stake/service for the nodeholders and will also introduce IP obfuscation integrated into the coin's network. In other words, the future is DRK...

What is the purpose of having a bot post questions from 5 months ago?  I don't get why people use energy for such things?  It's weird!

I just wanted a simple honest answer for a newbie like me but now I just think that you are just building a FAD kind of a mysterious atmosphere for you own good, so even if you say you are not going to influence me with your opinion you actual do.

So it would be better for all of us to just come out and say in what values of DRK coin you bieleve most so I can go and research them on my own otherwise you don't answer my question please.

+1 I've watched Darkcoin go from the high 30s to top 10 market cap based on fundamentals. There haven't been the pump and dumps of scam coins, just solid growth. You can't fake fundamentals.

Darkcoin is like an oil explorer right now - there's been plenty of oil in the pit from drilling tests for weeks (price climbing) and now its starting to truck oil off the site (top 10 MC). Once Evan opens up the choke on this thing and DarkSend is finished, there will be no stopping it (first decentralized anonymous digital currency = the most important development since Bitcoin).

Can you fit DarkcoinTalk.org's new pool on there?  It's pretty small, but a little recognition would be great Smiley

You will release the source of the wallet, OK

- Will you release windows binaries?

- What algo?

- If it's not quark/scrypt/sha265/scrypt-jane ....   will you release a standalone miner (including source code) at the same time you release the wallet?

The miner is already open source and it run x11.

It was a bot, reusing post #18 from january (!) as its own: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4587423#msg4587423

What is the purpose of having a bot post questions from 5 months ago?  I don't get why people use energy for such things?  It's weird!
Only thing I can think of is the guy created the bot to spread FUD and doubt on the forums of coins that he wants to buy.  He hopes that his bot will create the perception of confusion and doubt and thinks this will cause the price of the coin to go down so he can purchase at a lower price.  Who knows, it might actually work a little on the pump type coins whose buyers are less knowledgeable and more short term in their thinking.  Regardless, maybe we should take it as flattery that someone is working so hard to buy in.  Grin

Maybe the extra time will let them get masternodes improved. I would like to see 2 major improvements:

  • Able to run multiple masternodes on one server. If I control 10 masternodes, I should be able to run all 10 on one IP.
  • Able to run masternodes with coins that are in 100% cold storage. Just by broadcasting a message that was signed while offline.
Signed message can be simple like "123.123.123.123 0e3e68e1cf3299f563a1aa70f096c29e35fd1e370010002b1811ef912813c384-000 IHTGVfwQSJouPGU8AwGinyCuB4+OssmGgS+ByUovLVwxN1o43+QJJwB7poWZbNRDCkoIhz+9VeDrzEgAndCUDao=" would be enough. The message is just authorizing a specific IP to function as the masternode for a specific input. The entire signing can be done offline and only needs to be done once.
