I tried to setup a masternode... No way I can do that. It looks like something that will be simple enough to do if there was a super detailed PDF guide or a Youtube video. I'm guessing people who know how to do it are not providing tutorials for selfish reasons (the fewer masternodes, the more profit they will make at the beginning).

This guide is lacking details:
https://darkcointalk.org/threads/how-to-set-up-ec2-t1-micro-ubuntu-for-masternode-part-1-3.240/

Not true, at least in my case. I may or may not be doing it right, I am having issues with my masternodes not reporting all my others with the masternode list command, I have asked several times about it in this thread and have received no response - I don't want to write up a guide to what I'm doing if I'm doing it wrong!

chaeplins guide isn't too hard, in fact part 2 is all you need once you've got to the point of being able to ssh in to your server, and some of part 2 (compiling darkcoind yourself) can be omitted as you can currently just download the binary. Really it's all cut'n'paste. Use nano to edit config files if you don't like whatever he suggested, nano is really easy to use. Part 3 is just how to update to the latest version, ie download + shuffle the new one in.

We found another (yet again!) issue with the masternode voting system and have pushed up a fix. Please update before Wednesday.

Source code:
https://github.com/darkcoinproject/darkcoin

Stable version (v0.9.3.2):
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/darkcoind
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/darkcoin-qt

RC2 (v0.10.7.2):
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/rc/darkcoind
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/rc/darkcoin-qt

Run a masternode? Update to v0.10.7.2
Run a service? Update to v0.9.3.2
Run a windows client? Binaries will be available soon (InternetApe will post later)

 same procedure? trash testnet3 too, or just daemon?

I have removed blocks,  chainstate, database.
Keep wallet.dat.

Hi, is that the reason the testnet is down?
Stuck in 3994 ?, I have updated.

Test DRK, so I just dumped tesnet3 entirely. I had 7k on the testnet pool, its ok.

 What about testnet pool. Getting stratum error. I'm at block 4035 and rising...

I wonder how to mine the testnet pool. Its not working for me.

[23:50:17] No servers were found that could be used to get work from.
[23:50:17] Please check the details from the list below of the servers you have input
[23:50:17] Most likely you have input the wrong URL, forgotten to add a port, or have not set up workers
[23:50:17] Pool: 0  URL: stratum+tcp://ec2-54-198-34-42.compute-1.amazonaws.com:3333  User: xxx  Password: xxx
[23:50:17] Press any key to exit, or sgminer will try again in 15s.

That's an unfair statement, the guide is already simple to follow. I would like to help people to setup their mn but I don't have enough free time, it's already an hassle to maintain mine. And I always take some time to answer to the best of my knowledge some questions about the coin.

The file labeled Windows RC 10.7.2 from the site http://darkcoin.io/getstarted.html

specifically http://darkcoin.io/downloads/rc/darkcoin-qt.exe

shows "v0.10.7.1-unk-beta" in its "About" window.

Is this a version issue or a labeling issue?

Yes, it's also kind of shortsighted by since the more masternodes there are, the more decentralized the network. However, I guess you can make a shitload of DRK in the first couple of days after Wednesday if there will be less than 100 masternodes. I do have to admit that I would probably not share this information either if I knew how to create a masternode, or I would share it in like 2 weeks or so. I call upon the developer Evan to free up some time to write this detailed document, however he might not want to do this for the same reasons others aren't.
I'm going to setup a ton of masternodes tomorrow. I will try to make a cam-shot or something.CoinzCoinzCoinz Let me know how you may prefer it. DISCLAIMER- I am no master producer in linux, so follow with trepidation. Hopefully others can right my wrongs if there are. Probably will be.,

bump..

For starters, there hasn't been a mass exodus from scrypt.

It makes little sense why someone would put that much into something that has not stood the test of time.

Money is the only thing that makes sense. If scrypt in your area is unprofitable, then you mine X11 due to low electric cost.

What assurances do we have that the stratum exploit(s) isn't being used ? How is a noob to know ? lmao

As for my X11 asic theory...  its only code.

What stratum exploit(s) be specific. Like the one corrected by DGW Months ago ?  Roll Eyes

My masternode is running with 0 DRK in the server wallet, and the 1K drk in a local offline wallet.  Set it up using the instrunctions from humanitee you can find here: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/needed-guide-for-running-masternode-remotely-without-the-1000drk-on-server.386/#post-2877

From what you are telling me I guess the masternode will get paid in the offline address, but I guess we will see Wednesday.

JUST A FYI,,,,

since the test net pool keeps having issues I have started cpu solo mining...(this got the block chain moving i think, as I am getting the 500 test net coins) I would advise others to do the same if you need test net to work on MN or other items:

SOLO MINING:

cat darkcoin.conf
testnet=1
addnode=23.23.186.131
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0
rpcport=9999
rpcuser=darkcoin
rpcpassword=password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1

./minerd -a X11 -o http://127.0.0.1:9999 -O darkcoin:password
