I think we might get a decline this upcoming week and it might drop to around .0036.

That seems like the pattern the past few weeks.

I can't see it dropping that far.

[1] - The masternode count is 82 and rising fast. That's 82,000 DRK out of the money supply in a currency that only has 4 million odd coins  Huh in the first place

[2] - On top of that, look at the order depth on Mintpal. The liquidity on the ask side is thin as hell. Even if the price were to go down again there just isn't the liquidity to get any quantity the way there was before. Nobody's going to be dumping 1000s of DRK sub 50 after we've twice visited this level in the past week.

[3] - Those that are wanting to be in the business of masternode 'farming' need a thousand at a time and probably know that this is the last chance to get them at a sub 0.01 price.

I just don't see it dropping much further than this really -were in a dip already and it's being steadily bought but in crypto's few things are predictable.

I tried to setup a masternode... No way I can do that. It looks like something that will be simple enough to do if there was a super detailed PDF guide or a Youtube video. I'm guessing people who know how to do it are not providing tutorials for selfish reasons (the fewer masternodes, the more profit they will make at the beginning).

This guide is lacking details:
https://darkcointalk.org/threads/how-to-set-up-ec2-t1-micro-ubuntu-for-masternode-part-1-3.240/

I'm thinking the same. justified by " I had to do it myself so you shall too! "

profit > community
Yes, it's also kind of shortsighted by since the more masternodes there are, the more decentralized the network. However, I guess you can make a shitload of DRK in the first couple of days after Wednesday if there will be less than 100 masternodes. I do have to admit that I would probably not share this information either if I knew how to create a masternode, or I would share it in like 2 weeks or so. I call upon the developer Evan to free up some time to write this detailed document, however he might not want to do this for the same reasons others aren't.
I'm going to setup a ton of masternodes tomorrow. I will try to make a cam-shot or something.CoinzCoinzCoinz Let me know how you may prefer it. DISCLAIMER- I am no master producer in linux, so follow with trepidation. Hopefully others can right my wrongs if there are. Probably will be.,

That would be great !!
I would love to set up one too, but am not tech savvy enough to do it on my own !
As we need more Maternodes (outside the US) it would be great if there was a video/ idiot proved tutorial,…..
so we get more going and set. (am happy to do 2 in HK, but am worried i will mess it up without proper instructions !

Tx
am looking forward to it

+1 for lowendbox. it is website where hosting services post their specials for plans that don't require lots of resources.

Lowendbox has some reasonable options. Some alternatives;

http://www.orangewebsite.com/vps.php - accepts Bitcoin - hosted in Iceland

http://www.ccihosting.com/vps.php - accepts Bitcoin - hosted in Panama

http://www.anonymoushosting.in/vps.php - hosted in the Netherlands

http://www.yohost.org/offshore-hosting.html - accepts Bitcoin - hosted in the Netherlands

http://www.securehost.com/dedicated-servers/ - hosted in The Bahamas and Bermuda

http://www.cinipac.com - accepts Bitcoin - various locations including Iceland and Romania

https://www.1984hosting.com/ - hosted in Iceland

Most of these companies have been in business for a good while and have competitive pricing.

They should really consider accepting Darkcoin !

Thanks for this, I'm going to get one going in Iceland and one in the Bahamas tonight.

We really need better documentation and FAQ pages.

http://www.darkcoin.io/faq.html isn't even up.

Has an FAQ been started already? It should be on Google Docs and everyone willing to contribute should be added as a collaborator.

Who is willing to collaborate on this?

Also, who is willing to collaborate on a Guide & FAQ for masternodes setup?

There are the beginnings of a FAQ here - https://darkcointalk.org/threads/f-a-q.564/

Chaeplin's master node guides are in this subforum - https://darkcointalk.org/forums/guides.32/

I'm trying to set up a masternode using this guide: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/how-to-set-up-ec2-t1-micro-ubuntu-for-masternode-part-1-3.240/

But, when setting up an instance in EC2, I can't find 'Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS (PV)' as is shown in the image in the guide. Am I blind? I can find 14.04, and slightly different versions of 12.04 (without (PV) behind it IIRC). Which one should I choose? Is there a more up-to-date guide?

Sorry for the noob questions.

14.04 worked for me fine with that guide. You can skip the compile as you're just going to download the binary anyway, but only do this if you know your way around the CLI as you'll have to ignore or change some later steps where you replace the compiled darkcoind with the binary one. If unsure just run through it all as is, takes an extra 15 minutes, no big deal.

Thanks. I tried 14.04 and when I was almost done with Part 2, I got an error that I didn't see explained anywhere. I'm going to start over and pay more attention this time.

Hey panicbuythenpanicsell, I had to figure things out myself and got unexpected errors too and found solutions on my own. If you post what error did you get I may be able to help if it happened to me too. Be careful not to post any private information but dont go over all of it again just because of an error. We are all willing to help.

I'm at the point where I have to run darkcoind, and I get the error:
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error'
  what():  locale::facet::_S_create_c_locale name not valid
Aborted (core dumped)

EDIT: SOLVED. I had to do this 'export LC_ALL=C' and then it worked.

So guys. Help me understand this better as I've emptied many pints tonight.  Grin
Which version of the client are we to use to set up masternodes with to begin receiving actual DRK come the 14th?
I'm a little daft at the moment but I thought the rc version was for testnet use only. Is this the case or am I completly pissed. Cheesy

We found another (yet again!) issue with the masternode voting system and have pushed up a fix. Please update before Wednesday.

Source code:
https://github.com/darkcoinproject/darkcoin

Stable version (v0.9.3.2):
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/darkcoind
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/darkcoin-qt

RC2 (v0.10.7.2):
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/rc/darkcoind
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/rc/darkcoin-qt

Run a masternode? Update to v0.10.7.2
Run a service? Update to v0.9.3.2
Run a windows client? Binaries will be available soon (InternetApe will post later)

Ok, found it. v0.10.7.2 it is then.
Anyone running masternodes on windows? I'm absolutely horrible with linux.

Daddeo, RC2 is both on testnet and live.  Going through the thread just now, I see we had an update with RC2, so make sure you get the latest here:.... Ok, I see you found it, LOL

I don't think you can use windows yet, though you could try it???  Make sure you take steps to secure everything!

Yes, use the above version, as it was just posted by Evan today as a bug fix, and the guide should be the same.

Both of you should make sure you do this with a remote wallet so you can keep your coins safely in "cold storage" (save the .dat file with the coins in it on a jump drive off line.  Keep it safe!)

Well, I honestly hope, for myself as well, that keeping my coins off line and all the other safety measures i took will make it pretty darn safe, but you never know?

Unless there is a hole somewhere, and there always are holes, it should be pretty safe.  There is risk in everything we do.

I think darkcoin be as successful as litecoin in early 2013. It is associated with the new era, the beginning of the mass production of script Asic.
He is the first x11, both in his time litecoin was the first script coin. It is because I expect price increases tenfold in 2014.

I havn't tried masternodeaddr yet.
People are using masternodeaddr for "cold storage".

As far as I know, Evan said both need to be online. At least for now.

Is there any changes ?

Nope, they don't need to communicate. The masternode with the money just needs to sign a message with it. That node broadcasts it to the whole network. After than the secondary masternode is good to go.

Could you disconnect the masternode with the money from the network and even send it to cold storage once the secondary masternode is in the network?

that's the whole point of it Cheesy

Yeah, I basically wanted an official confirmation Tongue

Nope, both need to be online. At least for now.
