Hello Everyone, As most of you are probably aware, budget finalization is about to happen on our network, but it looks like the network is missing about 1500 votes for the last two proposals. I would prefer the whole network vote on this so we can be sure where the network would like us to spend the budget funding. Should it go to reimbursing the soda guys or should it go to funding a pr campaign? https://www.dashwhale.org/p/soda-reimbursement1154 Yes / 431 No 1585 Votes https://www.dashwhale.org/p/transform-pr1410 Yes / 660 No 2070 Votes There's currently about 2000 votes missing from soda-reimbursement and 1500 votes missing from transform-pr. These are the two lowest voted proposals and they are competing for that final payment slot. Please vote

And we can pay the 100 DASH of the reimbursement from a separate budget and do both things. It is easy to just do both and dont burn any coins.

There seemed to be very little concrete info on how they plan to secure 0-conf transactions. I am puzzled how some third party could prevent a double spend for a 0-confirmed transaction. Wouldn't miners just pick up a new transaction with a higher fee regardless of what a third party thinks about the transaction? Or maybe the third party only notifies a merchant that a double spend has been made? Just had a quick glance at the gulden site. It looked more of a fundraiser for physical bullions than blockchain security, but maybe I just misunderstood the purpose of their products.

Hey, let me present my new DASH video: Thanks to TanteStefana and Tungfa for their help with script and sound editing. It'll be nice if Dash community help me to cover direct production expenses - on my DASH: XxG6WRPA5ef767m37eEbGjK8T1UPAVGdCq I have lots of additional promo-ideas but can't sponsor them by myself. Thanks! Please spread the word, everybody - distribute this nice video. Bump, and wanted to say this was really cool. That a member can put out such great videos is so awesome! Sorry I'm not up to par today, I'll have to catch up with the forum when I'm feeling better and the screen isn't making me feel like my head is gonna explode, LOL Laters!

It's a live contest between all proposals. Core is even up for downvoting in theory. They are ALL "in play" as they say.

Hi Minotaur, When the PR agency budget item was first introduced, the DASH price was $2.85 USD (.006621 * $431). Today it is $4.15 Is the contract with the PR firm in USD, in which case why don't you just submit a lower proposal, or Is the contract in DASH? Either way it looks like a sweetheart deal.

The contract is denominated in Dash for 3 months and their initial exchange rate was about 3.38 USD / DASH it was the rate on the date of the payment not the day of the proposal. The service provider takes the risk of either price rise or decline for the 3 months, they were actually under water for a while. All the news coverage we have gotten since January is thanks to their work. After 3 months the contract expires and we are done, we decide if we want to hire their services again or not. In general, the network should be responsible and comply with its agreements, why would service providers work with us if we dont pay them after services have been rendered and against the terms we agree to. Anyway, I dont see the current situation as an issue as we can easily just do both and we should do both. Keep our contracts and reimburse the expenses, those are two things we definitely should and will do regardless of how the vote goes.

I hate to be a hard ass, but I have to ask. Why was this 3 month contract guaranteed with them when every other beneficiary of budget funds is subject to the whim of the voters? All proposals are subject to the whim of the voters, is up to the network to decide what it does. As a best practice it would be a good idea that the network complies with its responsibilities. When you contract with formal companies as service providers there are minimum terms, not everyone does month to month, 3 months of service for public relations representation is a short and reasonable time frame.

Why not submit a new budget proposal for a lower amount? Next month the 1100 won't get covered anyway.
Well currently it seems like the network would pay the contract and we would pay the 100 DASH to the soda team from the PR budget. Like I said is a non issue as anyway it goes we still need to pay both, so is not really a choice. Is just a matter of seeing what the network wants to do.

Any news on what the PR firm has actually done? Or we agreeing to let them charge us without any real proof of work? I've seen nothing. And besides that, the contract is overpaid at this point seeing as Dash is trading MUCH higher than before. Also, who agrees to pay a certain amount of Dash? Why not just give them a more stable currency as payment? Yes this defeats the idea of crypto, but we are talking about a budget here. Budgets don't play nicely when things are volatile. That contract seems a bit wonky.... The contract is denominated in Dash for 3 months and their initial exchange rate was about 3.38 USD / DASH it was the rate on the date of the payment not the day of the proposal. The service provider takes the risk of either price rise or decline for the 3 months, they were actually under water for a while. What?? You promised them a fixed rate of Dash?? Why not just pay in USD instead? Would that make way to much sense? Why do they get a bonus for doing nothing extra? Where the extra money going to?? Why is this not being discussed with the community? I see it as an issue because its wasting HUGE chunks of the budget. Why is the budget being used for 3-4 projects when it could be funding 10x that at its current amount. Why is this becoming a bloated biggy bank already? It's too young for that. This stuff could really change the world and we need to be exploring these options not just funding large ticket items. We need to make progress on all fronts! And offtopic; but where did all of the no votes come from? Seems like 260 No votes came in within the last hour in an effort to block it, now we get a public please go vote for which one is more useful? You've got to be kidding me, whats going on here? Collusion? Not to mentioned the first 200 no votes came in blocks of 20, seems way too organized to be a "the community speaking its mind" especially since the vote got all the up to 700/0 before the No votes poured in. Edit: And while we're at it, why doesn't everyone go vote on these things too: As you should be voting on all proposals if you consider yourself a responsible MN owner. So here are some quick links: Reimburse the "extra" fees that were charged to the DashNDrink team (Oaxaca) https://www.dashwhale.org/p/soda-reimbursementPay for Evan & Daniel to go play with some other important people in crypto (worth the amount of money?) https://www.dashwhale.org/p/satoshi-roundtablePay for further services from Michael Terpin. (Whats he done thus far?) https://www.dashwhale.org/p/transform-prThe Dash domain name (should this be resubmitted anytime soon?) https://www.dashwhale.org/p/dash-orgMore PR, not sure the difference between this and the other one, but we need this before transform PR, imo. https://www.dashwhale.org/p/public-awareness

Hi TheDashGuy, I understand you are a very passionate person and have a certain outlook on things, I respect that, but this is not a political thing. We do votes every month so we can't let the process become emotional. Transform has done a really good job for us, anyone on the team that has worked with them can confirm. My interest is only that our network tries to keep all of its commitments as that is important. That includes paying the reimbursement of the soda machine and also complying with its third party service contracts. We will do both so no worries. We will continue to deal with monthly payments for many years to come so we should not make it more complicated than it really is. Anyway, the network can decide what it wants to do, we will all just comply with the direction it takes. Everyone voices their opinions and then in the end consensus decides. Nice to see you made it to BCT.

This person smells like a professional trouble-maker. I guess it goes with the territory. Reminds me of the following fable... A MAN and his son were once going with their Donkey to market. As they were walking along by its side a countryman passed them and said: “You fools, what is a Donkey for but to ride upon?” So the Man put the Boy on the Donkey and they went on their way. But soon they passed a group of men, one of whom said: “See that lazy youngster, he lets his father walk while he rides.” So the Man ordered his Boy to get off, and got on himself. But they hadn’t gone far when they passed two women, one of whom said to the other: “Shame on that lazy lout to let his poor little son trudge along.” Well, the Man didn’t know what to do, but at last he took his Boy up before him on the Donkey. By this time they had come to the town, and the passers-by began to jeer and point at them. The Man stopped and asked what they were scoffing at. The men said: “Aren’t you ashamed of yourself for overloading that poor Donkey of yours—you and your hulking son?” The Man and Boy got off and tried to think what to do. They thought and they thought, till at last they cut down a pole, tied the Donkey’s feet to it, and raised the pole and the Donkey to their shoulders. They went along amid the laughter of all who met them till they came to Market Bridge, when the Donkey, getting one of his feet loose, kicked out and caused the Boy to drop his end of the pole. In the struggle the Donkey fell over the bridge, and his fore-feet being tied together he was drowned. “That will teach you,” said an old man who had followed them: “PLEASE ALL, AND YOU WILL PLEASE NONE.”

I'm concerned that at present the system really isn't designed to handle multi month legal contracts. I hope we can come up with idea to improve it. The law doesn't recognize DACs, so there is actually legal liability for the person or legal entity who signs the contract on behalf of the network. That's a huge risk!
