From looking at http://drk.poolhash.org/poolhash.html The p2pool has rate is just 5% of total network, BUT has just got 13 of the last 100 blocks. 13% of blocks from 5% has power, pretty nice! Can't see overall average, but looks to be doing well! Feel free to checkout my DRK p2pool node! low 0.25% fee, http://x11p2p.com:7903/static/ , low latency / pings from Internap optimized network. West cost U.S location.

I was thinking about the goverments (of the US and Europe mainly) and I think in the near future (with some “terrorist” excuse) they will try to close the DarkSend masternodes system. We are now out of the focus of the media, but if Evan succeed (and I have no doubt about that) we will be exposed to all kind criticism.
The anonimity is a real threat to the goverments and powerful people. They will be very nervous in the next few months/years (if they are nervous with dark wallet, and they just need to hack one server....)
I think we must anticipate this possibility.
Our weakness link in the chain are the Masternodes. If we use external servers, we must spread it all over the world. It's no sense we all use the "Amazon" servers, because Amazon is a US company the US goverment can easily close that.
Maybe sounds paranoid, but I think our masternodes must be placed in servers of companies located all around the world, in Russia, Southamerica, african or asian countruies (not in china, of course), etc... Not only in US and EU. This will make our Masternodes net more powerful.
My 2 duffs.
I agree, Sweden or Iceland are good choices for servers.

I agree, Sweden or Iceland are good choices for servers. Can someone compile a list of services where we could host them? I want to get off Amazon but being able to launch x many master nodes at a time is killer, especially if the price fluctuates greatly in the future. I'm completely oblivious to other hosting providers that allow this flexibility. I have other hosts that I use, but I have to pay by the machine for the entire month. If Darkcoin's price craters (not that I think it will) I would want to be able to turn the node off until the price recovered without paying.

can we raise the price a bit?
I don't like how you leech the money out for DRK for your tropical vision. Go to economics section for your brewing, minidumps, price alteration wishes please

I like how the price has stabilized around 0.0035. I don't foresee us going back to <0.003 again. The next release of Darksend will be interesting; Masternode payments

The next release of Darksend will be interesting; Masternode payments I have one question about this, when RC2 comes out we are going to need a hard fork of the mainnet to start masternode payments right? Is this happening when RC2 is released? Or are the masternodes going to remain in testnet even after RC2 comes out and we will be just paying the masternodes with test drk to try it out? (Bear with me if its a silly question I am just wondering)

how secure is the 1000DRK that is sent to the daemon to become a masternode? Is it based on the encryption/password placed on your DRK wallet? If so, would DDOS protection even mitigate the risk of losing the 1000DRK, or does it just prevent downtime?

Come help test RC2, we have pool support now. We could use some GPUs and CPUs.- We need some masternodes - We need all pool operators must test the new patch for stratum If all goes well we fork, release RC3 and opensource on May 14th. Sound good? https://darkcointalk.org/threads/rc2-testing-with-pool-support.353/

Great but Opensource so soon? I thought it would be closed source for at least a while, with respect to copycats etc?

Yeah that is super quick. How about a month before open source? Time for the media to catch on to DarkSend.

There is a command to enable having the 1000 DRK on your local machine and forward the master node to a remote server. This is how I currently run mine. Torn on the open sourcing but everything else sounds great! Stellar job Evan! Personally, I'd open source it when we were done with release candidates.

Yeah that is super quick. How about a month before open source? Time for the media to catch on to DarkSend. I like Evan's idea of going open source as soon as it is ready. My only concern is security. It would be terrible if there was some bug that caused coins to be lost. If Evan is certain the code is rock solid I don't see any harm in going open source right away. Nobody is going to adopt it as a payment method until it is open source. The Armory (a darknet arms dealer) made an announcement a few weeks ago that they would begin accepting DRK, but quickly went back on their word when they found out it was not yet open source. If we don't open source right away, every press release will say HEY DARKSEND IS OUT * ( *...but it is closed source). Closed source (even for a month) will hurt more than it will help IMO.
