Without masternodes there is no anonymity. The only coins that are provably anon (and by this I mean coins that are somewhat more anon than bitcoin) at this point are XMR and DRK. Every other coin is just a lot of promises. XMR has got a lot of barriers to adoption that I won't rehash here -- and DRK uses masternodes.

If there are no masternode payments then there are only a handful of masternodes and the only thing that makes this coin valuable, decentralized anon, is near worthless. So miners saying that they don't like masternode payments = saying that they really want to mine a worthless coin.

Stupidity at its finest.

It's like investing in gold and then complaining that it's heavy and you don't like the colour.  Grin

XMR doesn't implement centralized mixing nodes...  it uses ring signatures.  As for your 'barriers to adoption' - who cares... it still makes DRK significantly inferior.

Most miners are just dumping what they mine almost immediately at this point anyway.

FUD
Who cares if they don't update? With RC4, all non paying blocks will be rejected. So pay or don't get any coins when you mine.

Unless enough people don't update, then we'll just end up with two forks.  Yay... more DRK forking in the near future.

Great, plenty of liquidity before RC4 comes on stream and the price goes up.

So lets bookmark this post and bring it out at the end of July when the price is high and everyone is complaining the price is high.

Heh, I'll definitely come back end of July... but it won't be because the price is up.

So there are options to stop that.

Enforce, checkpoint to get everyone on the same fork, remove enforce.

Ah, I see. Competitors are planning to disrupt progress by trying to create forks.

Best of luck.

Take a look through the development thread, you might have some surprises that you hadn't anticipated.

I'm neither a competitor not trying to disrupt progress...  I'm suggesting that it's highly likely we are going to see more nasty forking issues over the next updates.  I've followed DRK development for long enough, and there definitely aren't any unanticipated surprises...

If enough people refuse to pay the 20% MN fee, then it simply won't happen.  This is simply how PoW crypto networks work.

Other functionality

RC4 will also still include improvements to the anonymity of Darksend. After the implementation phase is complete we will begin by testing the non-enforcement / enforcement switch and the new anonymity layer on testnet.

Is that why my DRK's retained it's value over the last few weeks while my XMR is now a meagre 35% of its 3-week-ago value ?

Or maybe it's simply because using XMR is about the most sh*tfest crypto user-experience anyone could ever have, including coin loss at exchanges due to the whole thing being workbench experiment that's not got a hope in hell of ever seeing any real world retail use.

Or maybe it's because they welded the "anon" layer to the "blockchain layer" leaving it paralysed on both fronts as far as the addition of any significant feature set goes.

Or maybe it's because of the torrent of mining supply that - in addition to above handicaps to value generation - requires a massive daily buy in to keep its market cap afloat (...which isn't happening)

Or maybe....shall I go on ?

Give me masternodes any day.

verify that God Mode works before RC4.
I'd like to see it happen just to verify that the Pimp Hand works regardless of the feature it's attached to... Maybe flip it 12 hours before pushing RC4, since it's gonna happen with RC4 anyways...

What makes you think that its a terorist in the picture ?
Just because he is not white and has no US flag all over, he is a terorist ??!
Makes me sick how most of people think.
If most people think that way then maybe the idiots should stop posting stuff that offends most people.
Deliberately quoting the stupidest thing I have read yet today, but the day is young and I suspect he has plenty more in him, entitlement like Brighton Rock.  Grin

+1
If aliens visited us, they would qualify our planet as slaveplanet nr. 0146A-XPr,
describing us as another one of those planets with Kleptoparasitism,
(where a few people of a species (TPTB) have enslaved the rest.)

Sad, but the reality.

Can we get moar cleavage? No complaints about the current trend, freakin' great stuff. I just like bewbs a whole lot...

Ok, I will see what I can do.
