This coin looks like it will explode on launch. I can't wait to see how it will do considering the sheer amount of interested people at such a very early stage.
I know! Lets just hope this momentum continues. Keep the chatter up!

Although what you've said does highlight a problem. Just playing devil's advocate here: advertising between now and the launch is arguably useless. People won't be able to buy NEM coins, and they can't become a stakeholder. Clicking the ad will take them to the website, which they'll glance over, enthused. They'll then see that it's not yet released, promptly close the website and forget about it. I know that advertising and spreading awareness is always a good thing, but it may not have the desired effect if we don't actually have a tangible product.

I think this would be true for everyday stuff where you get all kinds of ads thrown in your face. However when it comes to cryptos this is usually different. If you see something that you believe could be the next big thing then you'll keep an eye on it. Especially after bitcoin people are always looking out for what comes next and don't want to miss it at any cost.

People will bookmark the page, set reminders, get involved with the community etc. so it's not something I'm particularly worried about, just trying to get some intense discussion going. Another point I want to stress (which I've mentioned before): I'm getting anxious with the lack of a logo. The logos found in the OP here and on the NEM subreddit are different and below par (In my opinion; absolutely no offence to the creators. I couldn't do better!). It's hurting NEM's image. Either you or Utopian need to make a decision soon! NEM is now getting too large to have no brand associated with it.

Set up email alerts for the day before launch.. People see the timer sign up for alert check out the forum and get facinAted by the community then they eegerly await the luanch get the alert so they dont miss it and then buy on luanch! Job done.. You can market the luanch of nem rather then just nem.. Make the luanch a really big thing! A countdown timer is an amazing idea! We need to have an IR chat set up for when it launches. Music, laughs and excitement for NEM's launch! I hope to God that happens. I'm becoming quite attached to the familiar names around here.

+1 This could be maybe done on the www.ournem.com webpage but not before when the precise development timeline is defined.

I like these photos and I think the one with the crane is fine as it gives the message that NEM is a work in progress and people should get involved. I also chose the photograph of the building under construction in place of the Twin Tower/ New York for that reason.

+1 This is something that has to be done, and planned, carefully! We should definitely start creating buzz around NEM in the social media, advertising and forums a few weeks before the launch! Maybe there should be a pre-launch marketing board created in trello...

I agree that a timer would be an effective means of creating a "buzz", but it also imposes strict deadlines that may or may not be stuck to. Given the nature of what is being accomplished, anything can push that deadline out further.
I think it's better to beat the "Timer" than it is to be late, especially if such a timer did catch the interest of the public eye. So a generous amount of time on the clock is really the best option - if the idea is taken seriously.

But it may take quite sometimes for us to get there. At this point, I am still soliciting good coders to make other services around NEM, moreover if you can contribute to the core development, contact me or Jaguar.

I like the timer idea, but it might put pressure on the devs , they should be consulted and given ample time to do a good job .

UP did u check http://cowobo.org coders without borders? They seem to have the same values of NEM . Please look it up if you have time.

I'm not sure if i have enough qualification to contribute the the core development as I suppose a good understanding of cryptography is required and also the free time that i have is limited I'm afraid i would not be able to keep up with the deadlines :-/ Anyway can you tell more about the services around NEM? You already planned some services around NEM to be ready and launched when NEM goes online? Are you seeking someone to implement the "your" the dev team ideas? Related to timer i can check this days how to set up a timer on the page so in future when will be needed this can be done easily.
