If you add PoS to Solarcoin it would become one of the most dynamic Crypto's on the market in my humble opinion.

Solarcoin at that point would have 2 PoW and PoS,
PoW- Solar power generating panels
PoW- Mining network
PoS- Coin holders

One of the bigger drawbacks to PoS is hoarding because no one wants to give up their coins. So that drives up the price, but also makes it harder to get coins. The thing Solarcoin has that makes it a great PoS candidate is the premined Gen pool. With the large chunk of coins premined and given out for solar power generation, That solves the hoarding problems of other PoS coins as well as drives more people to redeem coins for solar power. Its also good to mention it would be important to keep the premined out of receiving PoS rewards, simple keeping them in cold wallets.

Im not a promoter of any of the other coins... I could care less how the coins used for example proform... They are only used as a reference... Im all about making Solarcoin the best it can be!!!!

I happen to love this idea as well, I'd just like to see the difficulty retargeting get addressed first so we can put out that fire and be done with it. Then our tech team will have some forking experience (no pun intended  Shocked) under their belts and can begin thinking about the larger project of a potential PoS fork down the road.

Wouldn't that be a "fork in the road"? Wink

For sure a PoS fork will be a very big job and it must be done right...

What is your thoughts on digishield vs KGW as the retarget protocol?

And this is something I need to look further in to PoSV it's seems interesting...
 http://www.reddcoin.com/papers/PoSV.pdf

I have been part of the research effort (albeit a small part) over the weekend to try and figure out the best approach to take. I can tell you it looks like Digishield is in the lead in terms of solutions. Once a course of action is decided upon, some testers with rigs may be needed. Again, stay abreast of the SLR forum thread, Justin will post there if he needs some assistance, I'm sure. Smiley

I am impressed with Digishield. Thanks for all your hard work behind the scenes.

I'm also a supporter of PoS as a future development for SolarCoin. Just so that everyone knows, this idea is very much on the radar screen of the SolarCoin Foundation Board and dev team as something to consider in the longer term. One possibility that has been talked about is a fork to PoS after we reach approximately 50 million mined coins, which is supposed to happen near the end of this year. That would allow plenty of time for research and discussion of all the specifications, risks and ramifications of such a change, and thorough testing of all new code, wallets, etc.

Just to be clear, the Board has not decided on PoS, but plans to study and consider it.

Thank you, Sunuser, for adding your voice and ideas to the discussion. Smiley

For sure PoSV is where I personally think we should consider testing

Any one who likes PoS should take the time to read this paper, It goes in to PoSV as well

On a more serious note and speaking of golden spirals, have you all seen this chart of the Arctic ice melt? Not good.  Undecided

I hate that movie. It irks me.

Really??? I enjoyed it immensely! But I can totally see why people wouldn't enjoy it.

Just to be clear, I can't rule out the possibility that I may have smoked something before watching it that made it seem like a much better movie than it is... Roll Eyes

Hey Justin I know you have a lot on your plate already with this retarget issue. However I have started to dive in to the code here a little. The multisig command needs a little tweaking. Multisig is such a great tool (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=zIbUSaZBJgU) and I would love to work more to bring features using it's platform over to Solarcoin. Plus this will allow future development on something like https://www.bitgo.com/. Maybe even later down the road adding it to the GUI. I don't know how close you are to finishing the new block chain explorer, But it would be nice to add the ability to view Multisig on the new explorer. Ok lets get to it

Code as is is missing the "createmultisig" rpc command

here is a link when bitcoin add it
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/commit/34226be7a8f5bbe1703141d39328ab99becb78c5

Also signrawtransation needs the "redeemScript" argument added to rpcrawtransaction.cpp

Here is a few other coins rpcrawtransaction.cpp

Bitcoin
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/master/src/rpcrawtransaction.cpp

Dogecoin
https://github.com/dogecoin/dogecoin/blob/master/src/rpcrawtransaction.cpp

Litecoin
https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/blob/master-0.8/src/rpcrawtransaction.cpp

If you could add this It would be great Thank you

Hey Justin I know your probably busy, so I just went ahead and wrote the new code for the multiSig and I emailed it to you.

rpcrawtransaction.cpp
Now has "redeemScript"
36 lines of code added and 22 lines deleted

bitcoinrpc.cpp
Now has the "createmultisig" rpc command and updated code for the "addmultisigaddress" command
52 lines of code added and 15 lines deleted

*sidenote would you like me to partition the bitcoinrpc.cpp and add rpcwallet.cpp, most coins have gone this way now, I only say this because bitcoinrpc.cpp now has 3,439 lines of code in that file alone. Your call just let me know

If there is any problems with the new code please let me know, at this point I'm going to start writing the PoS fork and I may write a PoSV fork for testing. You can either email me back or post in one of the forums or PM me in one of the forums. Cheers m8
