what to do when one rig I am renting right now has "Email notifications on so feel free to message in case of any problems or special requests. " written, but he does not accept being contacted first?

Its 30 minutes and something is wrong with his rig, because I am renting 5 others to the same pool without any problems.

Hello!

Ok so we now have a new payout long-confirmation-time issue, unrelated to the one from the 26 feb.
The affected payouts are the 2 from the morning of the 4 March:
https://blockchain.info/tx/5bffa0e355a25bf90be0d68c0e20bba2450d3e545c832342c0aab2d08dc3df59
https://blockchain.info/tx/efc939ba2511c2e7c8f2320a9244e4155226687ed4b195a7583317f15d5f57d1
I'm changing a bit how I'm doing payouts, and there was an issue with the wallet, which only put 0.0002 BTC as fee (instead of the 0.0022 BTC it should have -- the wallet is configured to add 0.0002 BTC per kilobyte).
So the payments have been done, but will likely be confirmed within 1-2 days. Sorry about that!
I'll of course double-check that the next payouts get the proper fee.
Also, unlike the 26 Feb morning payment, this is not related to a transaction input being unconfirmed, so these transactions will eventually be confirmed.

Mux

4 march morning payment update:
https://blockchain.info/tx/efc939ba2511c2e7c8f2320a9244e4155226687ed4b195a7583317f15d5f57d1 finally got confirmed.
https://blockchain.info/tx/5bffa0e355a25bf90be0d68c0e20bba2450d3e545c832342c0aab2d08dc3df59 is still waiting for confirm. Blockchain.info no longer shows it, but it can be viewed at http://blockr.io/zerotx/info/5bffa0e355a25bf90be0d68c0e20bba2450d3e545c832342c0aab2d08dc3df59

And of course, as last time, if it were to never be confirmed, I'll send again Wink

For infos, we now have made something like 100 of these big payments, these 2 plus another one were the only ones we had troubles with.

Hi Mux,

I have problem tracking and reconciling all these payments. Is there a way to improve it on your end (as suggested earlier, either by adding CSV export, or simply using a checkbox next to each payment that rig owner can mark received payment)?

For anyone interested, I have put together a simple patch file which removes the "JSON inval data" and "JSON key 'xxx' not found" error messages in your log window while you're waiting for your rig to be rented.

Note that you need to be able to compile cgminer (or sgminer) from source to use this. I'm on a Linux box and don't have the tools for compiling a Windows binary. Also, the patch completely disables not only JSON inval data error messages for Betarigs, but gets rid of them completely. I've never once seen this error thrown on any pool other than Betarigs, so it shouldn't be a problem. Using --more-notices in Kalroth's build re-enables these messages.

The zip file includes patches for the following miner sources:
  • cgminer 3.7.2
  • cgminer 3.7.3 (Kalroth)
  • sgminer 4.0

Download from https://app.box.com/s/9l8ydm9q6f9vttt7b4mx

Enjoy!

Hello,

CSV export is pretty high on the todolist, I would expect this to come live end of next week, or beginning of the next.
Impoz now working full time on the website part, the frontend should get updates faster!

It should be fine - just make a backup copy of sgminer.c before patching to be safe.

I hope it finds a balance in the future. First it was more in favor of rig owners, now it's completely in favor of renters as more and more *clueless/lazy rig owners filled the list.

*As in -don't know/care what to do other than pointing to a multipool or rent out for dead cheap.

Hi,

Wow... bad news for owners today:

Quote
Payment pending
Your payment will be sent 24 hours after the end of rental. This delay is to give time to your customer to file a ticket if he wants to claim a refund.

What is it ? Betarig perfecktly know if rig has been available for customer during renting.

Why adding 24h00 delay ?
It is too long I think

Eheh I'm always amazed how fast new elements are noticed -- didn't even had time to post here Smiley

Payments to rig owners are now done automatically
Payments were previously done in a semi-automatic manner, and were sent in average 12 hours after end of rental.
Payments are now done automatically after 24 hours -- giving time for the customer to submit a ticket to claim a refund, or a rig owner to ask to refund a customer; and time for us then to catch the ticket and block the payment.

Upcoming elements
Upcoming elements in the work for next week are, amongst other things, better filters on the main rig page, an API to get data from your rig, and a CSV export of the payments of your rigs.
New stuff is coming  Cheesy

Payments of 4 march morning update
All went confirmed now!

Hate to say this, but you're correct - some of the newer rigs (most rigs with numbers >2000) are probably operated by kids who would be happy just to make enough to buy a pizza (or a beer).  Cheesy
At these prices, no one serious can even be bothered to provide any support during the rentals.

All my rigs are offline now, pointed elsewhere. I know, I can setup the higher price limit and leave them online, but constantly polling betarigs for work will take some efficiency from hashing at other places.

So, Mux, we had some discussion via PM about this a few weeks ago, and I hope that some of the ideas will yield results, so Betarigs can again be the place it used to be.

I'm brand new and just registered my 20Mh/s farm last night. Someone rented it today at .0095 BTC/MH for a 12 hour period which seems fair.  I am not sure I could do better than that mining on my own with the prices of alt coins now.

But I'm not sure it is worth going any lower.  I'd rather point it toward a profit switcher and run it myself if I had to take less than that.

Pretty cool site, BTW.  I would like to ability to see what coin people are actually mining on my farm with.

Renting is really cheap at the moment but i think it is still profitable for leaser. I've just rented my small rig with 760kh/s for 7 days for 0.0084 BTC/day. Very cheap but this is still 0.25LTC per day. If i would mine at give-me-coins i would probably mine about 0.15-0.2LTC per day. Lousy profit since i've paid almost 900EUR for the rig and now you can rent it for so cheap but i dont have time to mine alts... any alternatives?

i think that renting is so cheap atm because mining is not so profitalbe for renter neather. Prices for alts are going down and more and more LTC script ASIC miners appearing so the difficulty is rising and GPU mining is less and less profitable, unfortunately  Sad

wow... I hope there are no americans here calling to "regulate" the market and price...... LOL

it is so funny, how all babies here start crying when prices go down... but they had no problems ripping of renters when there was only few rigs available...

I wish for higher prices as well, but you know how the game works... if somebody provides the same for cheap... everybody is only in for the money..

few renters actually care for quality.. they might even give you a negative rating if over several rents a rig fails (my... its technology and not flawless), instead of giving a good rating if the problem was resolved...
get my point?

its a price war.... and somebody with free electricity is winning it.

I hope there will be a time when the owerns or leasers (the users) can be rated... I hate thes "rented, but no payment received" rentals....

@MUX

how would monitoring API be arranged? (is it miner/win/lin comaptible?). Does that mean renters cannot complain about something that has not been? will payments be processed faster than?

how about the option of aggregating payents and getting them only once a week or on request, I hate these many small transactions...

Most of new guys (new to Betarigs) are missing an important point: the current demand for scrypt miners sits at 1.6-18Gh/s for many days now. All renters that are paying today 0.008BTC/M/day were happily renting a few days ago at 0.012-0.015BTC/day.

By lowering the price, you just devalue yourself, while you're not increasing the demand. In other words, if it weren't for newcomers who position themselves on price alone, more of us would be renting out our rigs. So your logic that you are making more at betarigs than somewhere else is a bit flawed, because you could be making even more here if you priced it higher.

Don't get me wrong, I'm seeing this kind of behaviour every day, but in real life you have the choice to either deal with a cheap amateur, or with a professional. Betarigs as a marketplace is unable to effectively provide that distinction.

Just for the reference, one of my rigs was rented for over 500 hours at the Betarigs - but not at current prices.
