According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Did anyone get the offer in their email from the DNotes dev to convert theit octo to DNotes?

Not me

Nor me

Since getting into Cryptocurrency I've had many bags, all but two have varied over time.  Those are the two I see in the mirror where my eyes once shone.

Hmmmm more bholzer lies from awhile ago.

Let's keep things rolling - really going to push to get the new website out next week as well. Fortunately, I am approaching a rare, brief window of additional free time so I'm going to really put some muscle into Murraycoin during that period and wrap some of these lingering items up.

On another note, I did just remove a few off-topic posts just to reduce confusion - if your post was deleted, it wasn't because you violated any rules/etc necessarily - people can post whatever they want whenever they want and, honestly, we encourage them to do so. At the same time, the Murraycoin thread needs to be (primarily) about Murraycoin, Bill Murray, and/or the Murray Bros. Foundation and anything that takes it completely off topic doesn't make sense. We have weathered an intense altcoin storm and came out on the other side so we're sitting well ~10 months after we launched.

Also, as I will be helping to build a new & improved OctoCoin wallet using the Bitcoin Core 0.9.3 source, I figured it would be a good time to roll out a new Murraycoin client as well while I'm digging into things. Before I start on that project, I'm certainly open to suggestions regarding a potential algorithm change/etc. If we're going to potentially set up another hard-fork, we'd ideally want to get that behind us as soon as possible in order to ease adoption by newcomers due to our steadily growing audience. I hate to admit it, but I'm a bit out of the loop right now on the latest/greatest algorithms and continue to mine MRY on my lone remaining GPU rig. While I feel it's important to keep payouts essentially the same/etc to maintain the integrity of the initial specifications, I'm certainly open to an updated difficulty adjustment and hashing algorithm if enough people feel it makes sense. I also have some ideas for a visual update and I'm considering implementing some gimmicks such as a "special edition" wallet which only kicks in when a minimum balance is reached (for example, 500,000 MRY). I'm also strongly considering a default donation charged on all transactions which automatically goes to the Murray Bros. Foundation (I would include the option to reduce or even disable the donation, of course, as an actual forced donation might not be appealing to everybody). Primarily brainstorming here but I don't think it's fair for me to simply make the executive decision here when this is becoming more and more of a community effort every day. Let's get the conversation started and I will start doing some research as well as soon as time allows.

Brian has been kicking ass as usual and more and more people are getting excited (or at least intrigued) about what we're doing here. I've said from the start we have something different and, despite my lack of steady presence here, we do have a solid plan that remains in motion and I'm as confident as ever that things are going to play out nicely.

You suck bholzer and you know it. Just come on here and say you fucked up. We would respect you more than hiding like a little bitch.

If all this means that our octocoins will actually be worth something again, then imo. it´s a no brainer! What do we really have to lose, that we havent already? I hope we can get the ball rolling again and at least try to do something with it Smiley

I did not get an offer to trade octo for Dnotes. I did get a donation from them and I know they were donating Dnotes to some members of the Octo community. They sent PM's to some.

I got the PM and help from Dnotes and big thanks to them.
I mined Dnotes and octo in start days, been active there and here, holding notes and octos.
My only mistake is that one i decide to invest more in 888,but what i can say now....
If u are still have some money and you wonna invest in long term,Dnotes is the coin without stress....

That is all for this year, for me....Dnotes is coin of the year,i was in hope that was octo...but I was wrong.

Well i am wishing you all,
Happy New Year and more success in 2015.

Best regards

Nele

I'm no developer. I'm just an Octo holder.

I thought they were already working on fixing the issue? I thought BTC had been given to edric to fix the wallet issue?

Oh well, if that wasn't the case, then I agree, go ahead. What is there to lose?

Will someone do something, anything pllllllleaseeeee? I wish I was a dev and I would just do it myself, but alas, I am not. So much talk, so many empty promises. I have a lot of octo and if someone would do something with this, I will give them half of what I have. Or tell me what I can do to help. I will help in anyway I can. Enough talk and pointing fingers now (I am guilty of this too) so can we all just come up a transparent plan of action by someone this community knows and will let us know what is going on? Again, PLEASE!!!

Thank you.

I think it would take a payment of some Bitcoin and donations of some Octocoins to find a decent dev that could dig us out of this.

I agree if the community wants someone to take over this coin there would definitely have to be some sort of payment in BTC to find a decent dev that would be willing to take on this project Smiley But the best of luck to the OctoCommunity Smiley

octo wallet is now back online @bittrex.com

Please withdraw your funds.  We will be removing the wallet by 1/30.  We've put safegaurds in place so a double withdrawal can't happen, however, it may mean certain withdrawals will get stuck.  If that happens to you, please open a ticket with us.

thanks,
richie@bittrex

we already had someone who offered his assistance to get us trading again. when he asked people to PM him to see if there was a community consensus apparently no one did. He's been offering for a month. PM Coinsolidation NOW and ask if he's willing to still help us.

the edric thing, well, it never was a thing. did you ever hear edric say anything about it? exactly.

we have a dev who's willing to FIX THIS COIN. we have until the end of the month. please PM Coinsolidation and tell him you're onboard! He didn't even ask for any bounties, although i think it would be in all of our best interest to give him a portion of something for his work.

WE HAVE A CONSENSUS PLEASE FIX OUR COIN.

Just curious, what is broken with Octocoin that requires a developer?
The block chain appears to be moving just fine as far as I can see.
