Sorry guys but I don’t think you’ll hear much from the devs for a while.

I was on a conference call with their management team and it seems like they were having a meeting at the chief dev’s house and his grandparents came to visit.

His mom sent them up as a surprise and, well, all they would say is that they were all ‘doing something’ and had porn on their computer.

His grandparents were pretty upset and took last year’s xmas and birthday money back – so it seems like the investors are out.

His mom has banned him from the internet until his 16th birthday – so it will be about a year and a half before his next update.

Also it was agreed upon by all the parents that the dev team are not allowed to have contact again.

The dev team all think this is ‘very unfair’ and communication between the management team and the dev’s has ceased.

Jokes are funny if their funny and maybe some people found it funny/will do when they read it but I like to remember that if someone wants to check up how Octo's getting along the first place they'd go is here. I'm a long way from remembering the names of who posted what, so when people post stuff that kinda equal trolling, such as yourself, (even when it's for a laugh) I check out a bit of their post history. Yours jumped out at me because of the relevance of what you'd said.

I'm not having a dig or being overly serious, but as you post appeared to have an effect on the market (just sells for a few hours til it hit a small wall. Just like tearz joke before. Which who knows, could be either of you eating reactionary peoples coins) And nobody had replied to your post I thought it apt to copy/paste you to help anyone who might have been spooked by your Joke, and they may indeed learn from your words. and while you may have some points, as far as the devs, news, rumors, proof, etc. once you are heavily invested in anycoin, you are pretty much holding until something happens. you have no choice. if you feel you have played with high risk and possibly lost, it's still too risky to sell as well. you would still be selling at a loss, but you risk selling early and missing out if you had held.

i understand why people are nervous and you are right. at this point we have no proof, only dev promises and some rumors from Bholzer.

once again, while Bholzer is not proof, it's still all you have. and i still think Bholzer, Fusion Hash or any other person who would support someone being dishonest, has way more to lose than to gain. Bholzer wouldn't risk his rep and his own coins if he didn't truly believe the Octo devs would pull through. that makes no sense.

This is a great point. Any wise investor will read every page of this thread before investing their millions. It would be a shame if they were turned off by a plethora of crude jokes, and harsh criticism of the development team (warranted or not).

so let's speculate some more:

1. what do you think the first three apps could be? why would they choose those three? what impact will it have? i personally think at least one will be a mobile wallet or at least an html 5 wallet so you can use it on any mobile device.

2. what apps do you think will come later or last? i think the octo bank and debit card will be later. usually paperwork/regulations will hold you up and Bholzer hinted that those things could apparently be issues.

3. which app out of all will be the most useful and make the most impact? i would have to say a mobile wallet/html 5 wallet and the debit card would have to be it. the easier you make it to use the more likely someone will want to use/accept for money transfer. you could counter that the octo bank or the ability to transact privately would be larger but we know none of the specifics for those two things yet. you cannot compare to what is already available from other coins yet.

i think one of the most crucial things would be to make octocoin independent from bitcoin. as a matter of fact, virtually all altcoins use bitcoins as their bridge to the real world.
in an octocoin system with real life purpose, bitcoin could be "a single point of failure" and i believe the devs can't risk that on the long run.
so while octobank won't be the first app i guess, i hope it will soon follow.
also, they can't publish services that require high trading volume for now, they must slowly set the bar higher. like -> mobile wallet, some marketing, some online games etc.

Oh come on, seriously?, this isn't a serious business forum and any serious money knows that.  A serious investor is not going to be swayed by a joke or criticism in here.  They will be won or lost on business plans, strategies and potential for ROI, all of the things we're currently kept in the dark about.  We may all be invested in Octo, indeed some of us have spent $1000's, but we're not the key actors, we're a piece of the puzzle and if things work out we may stand to make a good return but for now that's just a dream.

Most other coins/forums start when a narcissistic dev with average coding skills decides to clone a coin to call their own, some miners attach themselves to it, hype gets generated, people start spending BTC and then a few bagholders start pitching in ideas for collaborations and utility which then feeds back into the hype cycle with varying success until, in 99% of cases, the coin dies.  Octo is a bit strange in that we've been told from the beginning there a bunch of serious business plans and multiple project streams so consequently we're sat twiddling our thumbs, waiting for everything to happen and getting a bit stir crazy.

We can refute the FUDers and avoid feeding the trolls but surely we should be able to freely discuss and debate and we should be able to make and take a joke now and again.  We shouldn't try to micro-manage everything said in here to present a sanitised view for "investors".  IMHO what Octocoin needs right now is progress on the apps and a coordinated social media assault.  That's what will move the market and generate buy support.

well said. i agree with most of what you just wrote.

i do still think you have to be careful what you say because it travels fast over these boards and the net. but, at the end of the day, we probably wouldn't sway most investors. i mean, any negativity so far hasn't caused me to dump.
