Hey, just a quick question. I am currently running 4 newpacs on antpool. I am mining bch for better payouts. The antpool software reports my hash rate and it is showing a lot higher than what I get in cgminer. I have the newpacs on a gekkoscience hub clocked at 500mhz running very smoothly. I have seen the hash rate spike over 500gh and as high as 900 thru the antpool monitor is this typical. I am not getting any weird resets. ASIC boost is enabled. Any thoughts on this??

Thats completely normal. I get spikes on the pool I use upto 1.1Th but cgminer is running stable at 815Ghs. Sometimes when I check to pool it says 0.6Th but its just down to how the pool is reporting it and how frequent your shares are accepted. Nothing to worry about.

try poolin.com.

I have, and they certainly work well. I've tried Slushpool a few more times since my original post and have basically confirmed that something is messed up between Slushpool and my Newpacs for some reason. I've consistently used Bitcoin.com's auto-profit-switching mining pool for bitcoin and bitcoin-cash and can consistently see 7 of 8 of my Newpacs hitting a stable 650MHz and reaching a stable combined hashrate of 1.1THs. This is usually for the first few hours of mining, then one of the 'good' 7 newpacs will back off to about 644MHz or less, and the one sub-par newpac only hitting 500MHz or less.

I'm planning on expanding my setup to a total of 12 Newpacs, ideally all, or most, runnning at 650MHz (or even an even 700MHz), possibly getting me a total of 1.5THs or even 2THs. All of the Newpacs I have so far that can reach a stable 650MHz have shown a hashrate of around 140GHs. I'd like to use the Newpacs to mine Bitcoin-cash, and my Antminer to mine on ProHashing.com, where they can auto-switch between many different SHA256 crypto-currencies.

Hello, I am a novice in the matter, I am starting so I have 2 usb miner;) and I use slushpool, I run this on a T3200 laptop 2.00Ghz, 4GB 64 bits Win7, I have a Sabrent usb hub Hub 7 ports USB 3.0 AC adapter 60W 12V / 5A, I have cgminer-4.11.1-windows-gekko-a62385f, the command line is:
C: \ cgminer \ cgminer.exe -o stratum + tcp: //eu.stratum.slushpool.com: 3333 -u worker.worker -p x --suggest-diff 128 --gekko-newpac-freq 150
you think that it passes or you advise me changes?
thank you

Whats your profits like? How many newpacs have you got running on the pool and do you use cgminer or there software?

about 0,000026 a day average about 1.4 Ghs  with twelve newpac's.

OS: try using Linux, way more stable. Was using windows until a month ago. I switched to Linux, works way way way better.
HUB: be sure ur hub can povide the power needed. i myselve use the GS hub, then i am sure its all ok with the power.

yeah pool stats are always less accurate.
815 Ghs is a decent speed, what operating system are you using? Windows or Linux based?

Switched to a pi4 a couple of weeks ago. Running 6x Newpacs at 600m. Waiting for an R606 to become available in the UK/EU then I can hook that up too.

try using install manual as you can find on 1st page of this thread.
directly on MB, is almost most of time a power problem. of course also depending on your freq settings.

Al explained @ 1st page.

I recommend you to read this thread carefully completely, because almost all questions already have been asked. Smiley

[...]

I've been off site for a while and catching up.    Instead of reboot commands have you tried  shutdown -r 03:00 as an example instead?      In this example it will shutdown and reboot the system at 3 in the morning and you can change the time to whatever you want.  If you did a -r 10 as example it'll reboot in 10 minutes.  If you want it later in the evening shutdown -r 18:00 as example.  You may be able to run this in the same script as the miner (haven't tested) or run as a separate script and have it in Cron.

*** Edit ***

Ok tested and this will work:

Code:
#!/bin/sh
echo "System reboot at 3am"
shutdown -r 03:00
sleep 5
./bfgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://miningpool.gravio.net:3333 -u siteusername.worker -p x -S ALL --set MLD:clock=700

In the above script it will reboot at 3am just as a basic generic example.  And since you are doing OS updates you may want to run that in a separate script.  This example is a different miner but logic is the same.  Possibly putting the shutdown command in it instead of the mining script.

@sidehack: what is the max amount of Ampère that the R606 will pull?

I currently use a computer power supply and the 6 pin connector and if I recall right that port is 10A.

If I want to use another power supply that does not have that 6 pinner and connect it on that round socket does it really have to be 12V/8A?

Or will a 12V/4.5A psu work aswell? I have such lying around and it's a lot smaller than the pc brick but has no fan.

The terminus is running at voltage level speed 4 and gets 750-800GHz on a pi zero.

Can the red and flashing white led be disable with cg miner settings?

Edit:

can I use for example the P6 connector 12+ wires of a 300W (268W max for 12V) pc psu on that round socket? According to the label that is up to 19A.

Edit 2: I have it connected as mentioned in the first edit of this post. It seems to work fine.

The barrel jack is rated for 8A. Might be good for more than that, but I can't officially recommend putting more current than that through it.

A 4.5A brick will work, but you'll be limited on speed to down around 500, maybe 600GH on a low voltage setting.

The max amount of current will depend on your frequency and voltage setting, and to some extent how hot the unit is. I've not had one go much over 10A on my test bench. The 6-pin connector will survive 20A if your cables are good quality, and that's way more juice than the miner will ever ask for.

Cool, quiet and up to 1TH pod miner, on sale now!

just a quick reminder to expand on sidehacks post, just because your offering 8A or 10A from the power supply, the pod will only pull what it needs UP to that max offering. so if you run at a lower speed like sidehack states, you will only be pulling 5ish amps from the power supply.

As a side note, right-sized power supply matching is still very important for longevity and heat dissipation. Just like a car engine, running a power supply at 100% load 24/7 is asking for trouble. I tend to match my load to around 70% of the max output offering when building custom solutions where the power draw will be constant.

power supply efficiency follows the same basic principals as the old Goldilocks fable. not to big, not to little, but just right.

heres a good (its old but still applies) article from Toms Hardware about power supplies: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-oem-manufacturer,2913.html

page 2, "Firecracker Or Power Plant?" offers a laymen's terms breakdown of finding the right power supply, and not burning your house down.

I soldered a connector taken from a router power supply to the thicker 12V wires.

From what I can read from the label that should go upto 16-20A (268W) so I guess I'm safe and it also has a fan.
(I had a blown up closed power supply from a miner hub this summer when it was 40°C here  and not much less under the roof where the hardware is so some airflow is always nice)

It's been running for about 8 hours now and does 780-850+GH pretty constant on voltage 7 (3 leds on).
The limitation is the usb hub of the pi zero but I'm ok with this speed.
Still better than doing 100GH more and fry your unit after a while.

Yes, currently the pi4 is the only one that can handle a solid usb throughput. Prior to the 4, on the Model A and Zero, the single USB 2.0 port is directly wired to the SoC and on the B, 2 and 3 models the USB ports mux  to a single combo USB/Ethernet chip, which is itself a USB device connected to the single upstream USB port on BCM2835.

I thought there was a way to change the port used for api listening but I cannot find it. Currently, my Terminus is using port 4028 but so do my GPU's the issue I have is that I cannot use Awesome Miner Software to monitor both my GPU rig and the Terminus at the same time as they are both using the same port. If I disable the Terminus and start up my gpu's AM sees them but wont see the Terminus if I then turn it on afterwards and vice versa if I start the Terminus first and the gpu's second.

so, is there a way to change which port it uses for the API?

If you are using the cgminer at the beginning of this thread then it has "autotune" and 181m is where your stick is happy to run at with its current power source. You can change the frequency in the .bat file you created but if the usb hub you have it plugged into can't supply enough power it will always downclock until its stable.

What is your current setup? What OS are you using? What hub? mains powered hub or non-powered?

if you use a cgminer.conf, you can change it directly in the JSON settings. If your doing command line switches, add --api-port <portnum>
