Arey Royse Bhai.. Next IPL is way too far, almost 1 year gap. In case IPL doesn't gets kick starts in coming months, it would be good to direct all funds to T-20 WC which is schedule in September. Or better idea would be let the community vote?

In this case I have to agree with Royse. These two tournaments are very different from each other and it may not be right to move the funds to this pool. Indications are that the tournament will resume in the next 2-3 months, with the matches taking place probably in the UAE. We've been around here for many years now, so I don't think that waiting for a few months is going to cause too many issues. But if a vote is required to confirm this step, then I am in favor of that as well.

We got plenty of time for the next IPL and more importantly waiting 1 year sounds bit weird to me  , that's why i'm advocating for the 2nd option.

Well, that depends upon which of the two will happen earlier. If IPL resumes, we can continue with the current pool. If it's scrapped and/or WC happens before it, we can make a pool for WC with same prizes.

I don't think distributing it back would make sense and the next IPL looks like a farthing. Let's just adjust it for the upcoming WC if it happens. Is there an option where the current rank holders get the prize money?  If there is i would choose that option.

It may be that the price of Bitcoin may increase to 100K or 200K in the next IPL, from which we may benefit.
But to tell the truth, I have no patience to wait till the next IPL. So I'm going for option-2, although I have enough doubts about whether the T20 World Cup will be held this year.

Here is my vote: Reserve for resume or next IPL

Personally I assume that the IPL will be resumed before the T20 World Cup (scheduled for October 2021). 31 matches are remaining and if these matches are called off, then the BCCI will suffer a huge financial loss. So they will try hard to resume the tournament in the next 2-3 months. Delaying it further will cause issues, as IPL 2022 is scheduled for February-March 2022. So resuming the IPL after the world cup is unlikely.

My vote: If IPL resumes, we continue playing or shift the funds towards the T-20 World Cup if it gets scrapped.

Waiting till the next IPL is way too difficult for many participants including me which is why the World Cup is the next best option if IPL 2021 gets scrapped. The majority feel the same which is why I guess this is the final decision.

The BCCI has not yet decided on the future of the IPL this season. Coronavirus infection in India is very bad now, I do not think they will be able to fully recover in the next few months. Funds for this pool can be shifted, otherwise funds can be set aside for an upcoming tournament. If funds are to be used for an upcoming tournament, I think the decision should be made now.

Well it seems majority wants the fund will be used for the next big tournament which lead me to bring this conclusion that if IPL resumes then we continue with this fund or we will use it for the next upcoming big tournament possibly WC T20.

Great decision Royse. Imagine waiting until the next IPL and BTC price flies above $100K(Assumption). That would make us all winners, but waiting so long is boring which is why this decision is the best one overall.

BCCI stands to lose around 2500 crores based on Ganguly's comments which is why I don't think IPL 2021 will be cancelled completely. They will definitely find a solution.

By the way, returning funds to the users isn't that non-viable or costly as claimed. Currently, you can get BTC transactions confirmed in less than 10 sats/vbyte. In fact, my above transaction had 5 sats/vbyte fees and it got confirmed within next block. Since, there are 6 users who paid in BTC, fees will just cost 0.00004-0.00005 BTC ($2-3). But it would be best to keep the fun continue and hold with the pool until the cricket returns.

I was surprised to see that. Some of them even gone with their own custom options that at some point I felt that I should have add something like "User the fund if IPL resume orfor  WC T20"

Anyway, good to see that we all are happy.

I am sad that in the end it is the domestic players and the lower level non-playing staff who are going to suffer. Ranji Trophy was cancelled for consecutive seasons and this tournament provided around 60%-70% of the salary for the domestic players. Now the BCCI has got the excuse to further reduce their salaries. And from what I have heard, the IPL players may not be impacted even if the tournament is called off. The franchises are likely to pay them the full amount.
