With the loss of two wickets of West Indies  the bets have completely twisted.



How many twists will come in this match ?

Nothing more interesting than an unpredictable match This is the type of game I wanted to see after the long pandemic break. Now ENG has the upper hand as WI are down by 3 wickets. But WI batsmen are unpredictable, so a target of 165 runs is still gettable in 2 sessions.

England gave a lead of more than 200. If west indies wanna win by chasing 200+ runs, they have to play aggressively and if they play aggressively they will lose wickets quickly. At the end of  the day we may see that west indies lose this match. so, IMO, West indies should play only for draw. I think , otherwise the will lose the match.

Update regarding John Campbell's injury: the WICB in an official tweet has informed that he is having his toe iced, and if required he will bat again.

So that means that West Indies are 3 down (and not 4). All that said, it is surprising not to see Ben Stokes bowling to the West Indian batsmen. He has always taken crucial wickets during similar circumstances and if he could get a couple of the Windies batsmen, then they are done here.

Jermaine is playing superbly and is batting on 80 and West Indies is inching towards the wining the test match. They now require just 38 runs and 7 wickets in hand. Finally, after all the ups and downs in this test match we have West Indies close to winning it. England would be disappointed that they had a chance to wrap up West Indies quickly after taking 3 quick wickets.

What a match. Initially, I expected Windies to win after their 1st innings lead. Later, I expected England to win after 3 quick wickets. Now, it looks like Windies will win this one quite easily since they have plenty of wickets and overs in hand.

Blackwood literally saved them single-handed you so far and I hope continues to bat till the end. The other batsmen need to continue supporting him from the other end. Exciting match indeed.

Wow, I clearly didn't expect that my words would come true. Blackwood played really well but he has to go now without a century. WI now need 11 runs with 4 wickets in hand. Can ENG work some magic, I'm eager

Never thought we would see West Indies winning before the series started as there were no established players in the West Indies line up even though they defeated England in Southampton in the past, really great performance by the West Indies captain Jason Holder who took 6 wickets in the first innings and Shannon Gabriel followed that in the second innings and Blackwood played a good innings with a bit of luck as he was dropped earlier in the innings and overall a good performance by West Indies.

A very interesting test match ends in very good way and better team won by 4 wickets this is purely team effort by them specially Gabriel Holder Blackwood and Chase these was on top for visitors now in next test Root surely coming back but West Indies need this spirit hopefully we will watch another good test with full of fun and entertainment.

It is obvious England are a much better team but the main players was taking an extended break and West Indies was able to capitalize on the situation and win the first match which no one really expected, the major difference in this match was the way in which both captains played and the team they selected and crucial catch Ben Stokes missed in slips which was a straight forward catch off Blackwood, literally the dropped the match.

I'm very happy right now as I won my bet on the WI winning the first test match which I posted last week before the match started. I really thought that the match was even due to the fact that either team hasn't played in a while so I thought it was even as there was no recent form to go off. Also the players need to get used to playing again and find form which is why I also thought that either team could win and so I went with the value bet. Lets also not forget that the WI have played well against England recently. Anyway this now sets up the series to see if England can fight back and win the second test.

The way West Indies played the first match shows that they have come prepared. I am not sure whether these two players will give advantage in the next test but the way they played the first test they should now buckle up for the second test.

They wanted to give a slot to Mark Wood in the playing XI and that's probably the reason why they left out Broad. That was a real bad decision, with Wood taking just two wicket after conceding 110 runs. He was the weakest link in the bowling attack, and probably the reason why England failed to bowl out West Indies during the fourth innings. Hopefully they will be in better shape once Broad is back in to the playing XI.

Agreed. Both Broad and Anderson have remained mostly outside the media limelight, despite their achievements. Both these players have a combined 1,100 or so test wickets to their name. Broad is remembered for his horrendous over against Yuvraj Singh. Very few people talk about the 7/72 he had against the West Indies in 2012 (and that too returning from an injury). And regarding Joe Root, there is no doubt that he is one of the best test batsmen currently out there.

I still feel that it won't be pretty easy to tackle west Indies now. They now are a bit more confident and hopeful that they can at least get some winning chances from this series. Even with Joe and Broad back. I feel England's batting still would be pretty dependent of Joe Root. Still yes match would be much more interesting to see. But yes Anderson did show off by saying that leaving out Broad shows strength of England bowling and we pretty much saw what happened to it. LOL

Broad is one of the finest bowlers in the World. He was just too unlucky to have been facing Yuvraj Singh that day.

One thing is sure now its not easy for England to stand firm against West Indies as they already full of confidence and now they will do some more good for pride and England batting line up is not good even Root alone cannot give them something special now England need to do some hard work for win and level this series new look West Indies ic capable to give some hard time and take lead.

The English team intentionally left out Broad since they wanted to give more opportunities to new bowlers like Archer etc and West Indies is not great in tests usually which is why his omission completely makes sense.

I don't think they will include Broad just because they lost the 1st test. Also, Root is another intentional omission for the same reasons. They never expected West Indies to win so convincingly in the 1st test itself. I am not expecting any major changes in the squad.
