Not going to lie, Green still seems big fraud in test cricket. He might be useful in filling the gap of an all rounder but I still didn't see any impact, for some reason Aussie experts rate him very high and continuously back him.

In limited T-20 exposure, he showed extremely good temperament but he was supposed to be the next Jacques Kallis for Australia according to Aussie. Hope I'm wrong and he surpasses the great Kallis.

LOL... give the kid a bit more time. He is just 23 years old, and already he has performed at a level better than many of the oldies in the team. Now we can't compare a lot of players with Kallis. Jacques Kallis was an absolute legend and he was one of the reasons why South Africa very nearly became the no.1 team during the late 1990s and early 2000s (and the CSA killed the team later with their stupid quota policies).

So far Cam Green averages 36 with the bat and 32 with the ball in test format. As long as the batting average remains higher than the bowling average, he will be a good inclusion to the Australian team.

After watching his early two years look like he is going to be good player for Australia because having good natural talent and giving his best in all formats surely a good prospect for Australia having test cape at the age of 21 and now within just two years already play 14 test match mean Australian having high confident with this youngster which is going to be one of the best catalyst for the future.

He's considered a Bowling all-rounder and look at his bowling figures, despite playing the majority of matches at home which is btw friendly seam wickets. His SR is horrendous, in contrast, look at the other bowling all-rounder figures, who is literally become Meme in the cricket community, and everyone jokes around by calling him Lord Thakur.

In the long run, Green could potentially become a better bowler as he's young but so far his bowling looks toothless despite having a height advantage.

Kallis was one of the pillars of the South African team then. On the other hand, although Green had a few memorable outings in the recent past, it will take at least a few more years for him to reach a position where we can even compare him with Jacques Kallis.

Kallis is one of the player who took South Africa towards win in more number of matches when the other side wickets keep on falling. To make consistent performance like Kallis takes time. If he doesn't make good performance with batting, he does some miracle in the bowling. Green have got more years to play and that can make any form of changes in his performance.

Money factor surely having his impact, and I am feeling it's a good point which are you highlighting, but one thing is sure no one from BCCI give statement like this because they all are involved in these dirty games which are now going around Indian cricket because I also read about this all few years back with few others players were also doing tricks like these and now same going here he never skips any IPL with injury and now out of the World Cup with Ravindra Jadeja is already out with this now Indian pace is surely going to miss these two experienced players and no doubt a big below for their chances of having title this year.

Most chances Mohammad Shami will be replacement of Juspirat Bumrah because he is also well experienced player and understand conditions in Australia.

Bumrah is still not confirmed for world cup. He is suffering from a recurring back problem (suspected stress fracture), for some time now. Mohammed Siraj is likely to replace him, as Shami is also suffering from injury issues. Bumrah has been asked to report to the National Cricket Academy, for his rehabilitation process. BTW, Pakistani legend Shoaib Akhtar had warned Bumrah last year that his bowling action was not sustainable and would result in injury issues in the long run. Back then no one took his words seriously.

No dirty tricks but the more or less same reason which was mentioned by @Naficopa. He's onto something, although I don't think BCCI had any role in it as they were resting him properly.

The recent injury of Bumrah is unfortunate, it's not his fault and wasn't pre-planned as no player wants to miss the WC but questions should be raised about NCA, what were they doing?

Cameron Green and Jacques Kallis are completely in different era of cricket and comparison is never been ideal situation because both have their own best and the worst with right now Cameron Green is just in his early days, so he also can do many good things for his country in future with his bat and ball, but right now talking about these things is surely not good idea.

Jacques Kallis was one of the best in cricketing history, and surely he has done hard work for his all achievements which is not comparable with any other player which is now involved in current game because cricket is so funny game, and we have many legendary players those done amazing jobs and have their own value and name right now just wait for the best from this player and enjoy game of cricket.

I think that this thread will be dead for some time until end of this year. The next test match is scheduled for December 2022, after the T20 World Cup. There will be a flurry of test matches then, including India vs Bangladesh, Australia vs West Indies, Australia vs South Africa and Pakistan vs England. The WTC finals will be played by mid-2023 (June). But all this can't prevent the downward slide of test cricket. Fans continue to abandon this format of the game, and we can't blame them given how lop-sided some of the recent matches have been.

Test Cricket will be here to stay and in the past 5 years majority of the matches had results and it is simply because the pitches are made in a way that will help the bowlers as well which means we would see competitive matches and a series against top teams are always fun to watch.

There was a time when every concentrated on ODI Cricket and we are in a situation where we would see the demise of ODI moving forward as every team is focusing on T20 and Test Cricket. Test Cricket is always there to test the real ability of the player and competitive Cricket is always interesting and you even mentioned the Ashes, it is interesting because of the level of competition.

The solution is to separate test cricket from other formats. Players should chose either test cricket or limited overs cricket. There should be complete separation between the two. Issues arise when the same players who are included in the test squad prefers T20 franchise leagues instead. Also, there is an issue with clashes in the calendar. For example, no test matches are scheduled till December this year, because the T20 World Cup will be starting soon. The only way for test cricket to survive is by completely separating itself from the shorter formats.

I am also having feeling test cricket is not going to die in near future as you are stick with top 3, but I am going with top 6 nations which are going to have good future in this format as now their domestic structure is also good for this, and they can afford few things which are not good for many new countries with this most chances we will live in this hell for some more decades with most chances T-20 format is also going to help this test format for having better results as batsmen are going to be more aggressive which is surely good sign.

But, with this one thing is also sure no new country going to be coming in this format even few countries which are already had test caps hopefully they will also skip this in near future as this is not affordable for them with no good talent and having no good sponsors as well.

The fact that there are different players playing test cricket and limited overs cricket is not going to have a significant impact on the outcome. Fans are not interested in what is going on. At least a large percentage of fans for sure. Therefore, I believe test cricket can't be revived unless it somehow becomes fun again and people find enough time to watch test cricket (which isn't something I believe is going to happen in the near future).

In the last few years, the world has changed a lot. The world seems to be going very fast these days, especially since the pandemic, and people do not seem to have a lot of time to waste on anything. It's just that the time is not right for test cricket right now.

Test cricket is still alive only because the ashes series exists. Otherwise, it would have been dead long ago. India is also not letting test cricket go. We can also count New Zealand in on it too. I agree that test cricket will probably not die, as long as these teams are interested in test cricket but test cricket is not going to be popular either. It is okay not to talk about test cricket when there is no fixture. After all, it is the least popular format of cricket in the world. The only people who actually watch test cricket are old people and kids who are probably trying to get into playing cricket professionally.

Most of the current fans are middle-aged and elderly and among my friend circle I don't know about anyone younger than 30 years old who regularly watch test cricket. And even among those fans, there are less number of them who watch an entire day of test cricket. Such people used to be more numerous two decades ago. Even I used to spend entire day in front of television during the Ashes and Trans-Tasman series. And also, there is no guarantee that the pig-3 will continue to support test cricket forever.

Generally, cricket organizations will try to move in the direction that the audience will support. If there are no spectators in Test cricket then the expenses incurred in conducting that cricket will be treated as loss of the concerned organization. As a result, ultimately the organizations will also be forced to withdraw from this test cricket. Even a century ago, people watched a lot of Test matches. But the current generation is always restless no matter what they rush into. As a result, it is certain that Test cricket may disappear in the future.

Test cricket would never die. There is a seperate fan base for test cricket but to maintain it the ICC needs to fix more test matches every year. There are many here who might not watch the full game but would certainly watch the highlights or might be following the match.
