In the Test format, on England's pitch, it is very difficult to bat against England's experienced bowlers at a strike rate of more than 130. Rishab Pant has done this hard work and he has been able to add 146 runs to the team's scoreboard. India lost five top-order experienced batsmen by 98 runs. Then with the responsible batting of Pant and Jadeja, India's collection at the end of the day was 338/7. Since Jadeja is still at the crease, it is estimated that India could easily collect another 40-50 runs. The match will definitely be competitive. It will not be easy for England to defeat India.

It was a special innings from Rishabh Pant and he is instrumental for India in the Test format as he has rescued India single handedly many times in his short career and when India lost their 5th wicket for 98 runs i never expected India to bounce back from that stage but Rishabh Pant had other ideas and he started counter attacking rather than defending which is really crazy considering the pathetic situation the team was in. His innings reminded me of the batting of Adam Gilchrist who comes down at number 7 and when the opposition think that they have done their hard work he starts his counter attack and take the game away  .

Rishab Pant returned to the dressing room after collecting 146 runs. He has hit 19 fours and 4 over boundaries. Seeing his batting, I thought he was performing in a T20 match. However, the sad thing is that he could not score 150 runs for only 4 runs. Jadeja is unbeaten on 83 runs. At the end of the first day, India's collection was 338/7. India will probably lose all their wickets between 360-370.

It looks like India have begun to follow the scoring pattern of England. During the series against New Zealand the same kind of batting was seen with England. By the first session end of day 2 India will end the innings scoring above 400 runs. The first day scoring have gave more confidence to India, but England is more dangerous in their home ground. India have got good chance of winning, and if India is able to make a win then it is record that India haven't won 3 test matches in a series played in England.

His innings reminded me of the batting of Adam Gilchrist who comes down at number 7 and when the opposition think that they have done their hard work he starts his counter attack and take the game away  .

If he continuously play for next 6 years then he's going to surpass Gilchrist in the test cricket and might end up as GOAT wicket keeper batter in history of test cricket.

He's just 24 yo and already got 5 tons and 4 of em in SENA countries (except NZ) and made runs in very tough situation when team needed the runs most + 5-6 90+ scores. He could've at least 10 centuries under his belt but he live by the sword and die by the sword.

Cracking contest is in making as England batters will also counter attack our bowlers.

You don't need bother to talk about Bangladesh when it comes to test cricket. There is no doubt that they will dominate white ball matches, but not tests. It's okay not to be disappointed. It has been over 22 years since they've played test cricket and haven't learned anything about it. However, they continue to play test cricket. This format should be encouraged by Bangladesh so they can take a self-determination. This game is so boring, I'm curious as to how they managed to find sponsors.

That is correct - test cricket is so boring, the dull uniform and timings are really not attractive at all.
But a player should show his skills in every field not only in ODIs.

After going down 98/5 and having end of day with 338/7 is amazing feeling for any team and inning from Rishabh Pant giving great entertainment against quality English bowling attack Jaddu was also in good touch and this 222 runs partnership could be turning point for this match because after rain I was not expecting batting like this from these two but both done amazing job and now Indian team is on driving seat until they have any serious collapse in second inning because this is also on cards in English conditions.

Now they need 50 to 60 runs which can make big difference and their bowlers can feel good with their bowling here Jaddu deserve century because he is key player for them.

Anderson is still going for some more years as he is superfast guy and having great rhythm as fast bowler at age of 40 years.

As a result of being bowled out quickly in their second innings Test, Sri Lanka had their shortest innings ever. The Australians played a good replay after a humiliating loss in the ODI series. Sri Lanka lost both T20I and Test Series versus Australia at home. Sri Lanka's batting failed and their bowling combination was not great, looking like Sri Lanka is falling behind teams like BD, WI, and ZIM.

Sri Lanka have very good result in ODI, but suddenly we have nightmare for them because they completely down and out from this game and Australia able to give them surprise with their ability of return into game. 321 was not good target but sadly home team not able to achieve this and having some healthy lead in both innings. Lyon was hero with nine wickets, but Head give them big surprise with his spin and able to end this match very quickly with career best figure even this was first time he takes wickets in test matches.

Now Anglo Mathews is again out for second test most chances they will lose this match as well and having another poor series against Pakistan which is also coming for two test matches in coming days.

India have scored 286 runs and has not lost any other wickets. Rishab Pant's batting surprised me. He scored 128 runs off 99 balls. Pant's strike rate is more than 129. And India collected 75 runs in the last 10 overs. Although Jadeja batted responsibly, Rishab Pant is very aggressive today. If India can collect like 350-400, it will be a good collection for them.

Disappointed with Shreyas Iyer, especially in the longer formats. I have always thought about him as the future Indian test captain. But he needs to work really hard to improve his skills in seam-friendly tracks. BTW, is there any reason why Hanuman Vihari is in the team? He averages just 35.13 in test format, and yet for some unknown reason he always manage to find a position in the playing XI. The inclusion of Cheteshwar Pujara was still OK, although I am not very excited about his recent form (not talking about county cricket).

Wasn't surprising to see Australia obliterate Sri Lanka in the first test since the morale in their camp is pretty low at the moment primarily due to their failing economy etc.

On the other hand, I was surprised to hear about the final test between India and England out of nowhere. Pant was amazing, but he is way too inconsistent. He broke Dhoni's record where he scored a quick century again Pakistan in 2005.

Iyer do have game to get success in Test cricket and timing is also right, his main problem is seam, particularly short balls. He always get rattled by this tactic even in white ball cricket, hope Dravid and batting coach are taking notes and providing him necessary help. If he successfully tackle this very problem then he's going to be excellent asset for India in the Test format as he's one of the finest batter of spin even in hostile conditions.

Hanuma Vihari is purist just like Pujara and i believe he deserve long rope in the Indian setup. You need at least 1-2 players like him in the test team, sometimes it's frustrating to watch them fail but you have to back such talent as well.

With his batting in a red ball, he reminds me of Sehwag. Rishabh Pant has been successful in reaching four overseas centuries so far, but he still has a long way to go. Jadeja's century will be impressive as well, so 360+ in the first innings will be a decent total.

If they had bowled in a controlled manner, India would have finished their innings by 320.

When the team needed a big innings from Rishan Pant, he was able to play well. The Indian team lost 5 wickets for only 98 runs. They could have lost all their wickets before 200 runs. But the responsible batting of Pant and Jadeja resulted in India collecting a huge 416 runs. If the bowlers can bowl in a controlled manner now, India has a good chance to win this match.

I still do not have an idea why the English bowlers were so sluggish. The performed good when they were playing against Newzealand and suddenly they are missing out on everything. Yesterday, the whole team wangeared up but as Rishabh Pant started slaughtering them both bowlers and fielders were losing their momentum. Sometimes you cannot expect the wrong and then you start committing mistakes that lead to your end.

England have already lost two wickets and now the game got delayed because of rain. I hope the match starts soon or a day will be lost.
