I'm confused, in the extreme hypothetical proposed here why on Earth would you choose SP20s over a 2 pack of SP31s for $3000?

I misworded so much of that LOL!  Meant at retail or even 4k for 2x SP31's I would take SP20's for mining not in a datacenter any day.  At home or in our shop (like me) I don't have to worry about being in a rack mount with big PSU.  At that price point for anyone with no datacenter access the SP20 any day of the week.  At 3k per 2 may not be everyones cup of tea but i think a lot would be interested.

No way, even at 4K for a 2pack, even SP30's I'd take rather than a 4 pack of SP20's

The SP31's run on 110V, but the hash rate doesn't meet the specs advertised. That's why 240V or 264V is recommened.

If the price is right, I will commit to 4 units.

So far there's interest for at least 8 units:

me - 2
wpgdeez - 2
Powell  -2
Biffa - 2

192 more units to make a GB possible.

Let's see if there's more interest and we can pitch it to SP.

I'd buy a bunch (10 or so) at $1500/pc, if SP does that.

I doubt we'd need 200, maybe 100.

Right now, a SP31 deal would be welcome (SP35? not sure about the increased power consumption vs hash rate debate) ... Sponds will know that many were sold about 4/5 months back ... and many of us entered into 6 month hosting contracts ... so we are thinking 'customers' right now.

As ever the landscape has changed in that short time ... and next gen will maybe make an impact in Q1 2015.

Any ideas how to change the hostname on SP20's and having it stick after a reboot ?

Tried "hostname name" and "vi /etc/hostname" and neither of 'em stick Sad

Also, just got my two GB units in, and can't seem to break 1.55TH/s using Antec 1300's with the default settings of the SP20E

Any suggestions on what I might be able to do, to get 'em running closer to 1.7TH/s ?

...
Will the New Year's GB still be going on Monday?
We didn't decide yet.
RoadStress decided, we'll extend to Monday midnight.

Sounds good.  My OCD kicked in and I went ahead and ordered 4 more through the GB.  Support and a solid metal unit wins out. Thanks!

Bump the max voltage to .79 and get it some cold air.

yeah I sold the s-5 demo since the unit 's sound and lack of stacking do not work well for me.  I have 8 running sp20's and although I know I should not buy any more I want another 2. Must resist.

I've reached a reasonable limit of SP20's and S5's that I can tuck away into bedrooms or garages and have it be out of earshot of our bedroom.

Have to stick with a lone S2 and a dozen S3's for running within earshot of the bedroom due to their quieter nature.

IMO, the next batch of "home miners" need to run around ~50-55dBA to be considered quiet enough to run inside a house :|

Will probably order a couple more S5's and underclock them with quieter fans and still get 'em running <60C for use within earshot of a bedroom.

There's no way I'm going to get an SP20 quiet enough to run near a bedroom and have the economics of the purchase work out, unfortunately.

I'm just a small fish, so if you are talking about quantity, I'm out.  But if you are referring to the SP20 vs S5, build quality and the GUI goes to SP-T!!  Performance and price, no clear winner except the consumers that now have a choice.

Let's revisit within a month and check failure rates.

Bump the max voltage to .79 and get it some cold air.

Here's where I'm at for a stable 1650+

Temp Front / Back T,B

Start Voltage
0.69 / 0.69 / 0.69 / 0.69
Max Voltage
0.75
Max Watts
288 / 288 / 288 / 288

And here's my stable 1565:

Temp Front / Back T,B
20 °C / 70,68 °C
Fan Speed

Start Voltage
0.69 / 0.69 / 0.69 / 0.69
Max Voltage
