I've read some good things about the EVGA 1300G2 PSUs for these.  I'm stepping up from putz around mining to some(5) of these jackson s20 boxes.  Any other good PSU options?

That is okay if power and cooling are free run them in  the 1500gh to 1600gh hash rate.

Use fan  speed 80 to 100. 

  please understand that above 1600 gh needs a very cold room that is 50f or 10c  fans at 80 to 100

and a good psu the evga 1300g2 .

To reach anywhere near max performance (1.7TH +/- 10%) they need to be somewhere very cool (sub 10°C) and have the fans running at min 80 speed, just make sure you can keep them somewhere where noise isn't an issue

You can run them at 1.5TH with 40-50% fans at 20-25°C ambient and they are tolerable in say a separate room.

Or you can replace the fans and underclock them and keep them under your bed

I am in winter myself hard to beat free to cheap cooling.  Winter keeps the SP20's very cold.  I still love them no regrets at all with buying them.

They're going into a half rack in a datacenter, so noise isn't an issue, I'm just going to have to monitor the cooling and see how the temps interact with them.  The datacenter is kept at 20°C.

Has anyone built an enclosure or shelf for these to go into standard 19" 4 post racks?

It's not hard to keep the SP20 running at high speed with 20% fan. You just need some fresh air.

I've been reading the posts and just thought I would throw my 0.0006369BTC regarding temps, psu and hash speed...

I use 1 HP Common Slot 1200W Server PSU with a Gigampz BB per SP20.  I'm not concerned with noise and power is cheap.  I am guessing that the spikes in the "last day" chart is the SP trying to auto correct for the PSU but I'm not sure.  If anyone has some thoughts I'd welcome them.

try backing down the .77 to .75   yeah you may stay at 1600 but more stable   show us this page

So the air  from the back two heat sinks gets pulled past the front two heat sinks thus   two sets of numbers are always a bit higher.

You are close to perfect with your numbers  that one with the 120 is setting 4.

you could set the startup volts  to .685 for number 4 and drop the watts setting by 10 watts.

then check you asics again.  if you get all at no more then 115 you are good to go.

I am running 7 in my garage so high clocks are a no go.   I get about 1100gh an sp20 but I get to run 7 of them using around 4200 watts.

 I have high power price of 10 cents in the winter allowing for the bonus heat.

My SP20 went non-responding yesterday after I added a couple of pools. The web admin GUI never came back after submitting the change, and I could not ssh into the device. It responded to pings, but that was it.

I power cycled the unit and attempted further edits to the pool list. It seemed to work for a little while, then the SP20 hung again.

Operating on a guess that maybe I had specified too many pools, I rebooted again so that I could remove some. Once I saw pings responding, I quickly fired up the web admin GUI and stopped the miner. This allowed me to get back to the pool list and remove a few. Since doing that, the SP20 has run reliably again.

Is there a known problem with too many pools? I had 9 pools specified at the time that the machine went non-responding. I know that's a stupid large number of pools, but I've just been moving disused pools to the bottom of the list with the thinking that if I needed them again, I could just change the order.

If the miner craps out after too many pools are defined, then the UI should probably limit the number that you can specify.

Note that this was with the v2.5.52 firmware.

well 9 makes me think that 8 is max.   I have the same problem if I try to run 9 s-3's on mmpool.org   So maybe the coding maxes at 8 . 

I don't have 9 sp20's in house but I bet you that 9 on 1 name won't work at mmpool.org

It could be just a coincident event that 8 works and 9 does not. but both miners use cgminer.  maybe there is a limit of 8 pools.

It is strange problem, can you please provide list if your pools?

I will send all 9 to mmpool.org I would like to see if it does what the s-3's do on that pool.

 Ie the first 8 work and the 9th miner does not mine at mmpool.org or the rollover pools.  Not quite the same as the other guys problem but in my case  8 good the ninth bad.  It the other guys case he had 9 pools listed on 1 sp20 was good with 8 not with nine.

no that is another miner running at lower clocks in a colder area.


for the most part my sp20's do 460 to 490 watts and  1025 to 1075 gh.

So I am just under .48 at the kwatt meter.

 this one is using 460 watts   or 460/1015 = .448 watts a  gh at the kwatt meter

this one is in a spare bedroom the others are all in my attached  garage since I have 7 in their it is warmer and they do a little worse around .48

I'm looking at automating the setting of voltage on a daily basis to maximize profitability. For those interested, I whipped up a quick formula for calculating your maximum profit with an SP20 using 2GOOD's efficiency numbers.
LN((20116.26*(BR/D)*P)/(0.00417093689255513*C))/0.001368351
BR = Block reward
D = Difficulty
P = Bitcoin Price
C = cost of electricity (in $/kWh)

There's no bound on it, so obviously if it gives you >1700 or <800, you'd have to limit it.
