It is naive to believe any public statements when it comes to such big things. I think the "leak" from Marca which is pro-Real media can be considered as a public statement. I'm sure Real Madrid have an interest in Mbappe but they try not to show it as Mbappe is also interested in Real Madrid so it's better to look indifferent in order to reach a favorable agreement.

I think the media just want to massively exaggerate the rumors of Mbappe going to Real Madrid and they only want to make money from this news. Strasbourg's performance last season and this season was very different and it was a little difficult for them because the opponents were very strong and I agree with what you said, even though PSG will not be strengthened by some of their core players it will still be easy for PSG and they will still become the favorite to win because the conditions and players are very different in this match.
