In principle I would agree with you: Turkey is not a totally weak team and in the past they have shown that on a good day they can compete with the "big teams" in Europe, however, in the recent past we haven't seen many successes of Turkey.

Their last wins against better teams are about 1 year ago already (4-2 vs Netherlands in the FIFA qualifiers and 3-0 against Norway).
