is there going to be an UI for mac before x-mass?  Undecided

For now, if you have troubles installing command line tools, you can use my recipes https://github.com/sammy007/homebrew-cryptonight

This coin deserves a proper wallet already.

Yes it does.

That's why it is being developed. Tongue

we are in a situation where this coin with a MC of 3.2M doesn't have a proper wallet. 7 months now.. I'm holding, but somehow it's sometimes hard to see the value in this coin other than the distribution fairness etc. i mean we are dealing with lots of real money here..

Well, loot at it this way.

Monero has a 3.2M market cap even without the GUI, with high transaction fees, being a memory hog, with a pitiful website, [insert all the other whining here].

The dev team is active, and as they have stated there are a lot of ongoing efforts that are reaching maturity soonTM.

So grab your towel and don't panic!

Yeah, so i keep reading..soon soon..  but nothing, yet. I'm also going to continue buying as i have already made up my mind about taking a risk with this one. There's really nothing else left that i can do except whine about the situation cause i can't help with code in this particular case.

Yeah, so i keep reading..soon soon..  but nothing, yet.

Well, to be fair, there's been a little more than nothing. They have implemented several things that no other cryptonote has: a real database integration for the blockchain, per kb tx fees, and a novel checkpointing system. That's not to mention the code review, cleanup, and commenting that has been ongoing, putting up bounties to get some open sourced, non-crippled miners, as well as bounties for unofficial GUIs, and also paying or putting time in themselves to have the cryptography outlined in the white paper reviewed. So yea...practically nothing  Roll Eyes

obviously i don't mean to be disrespectful. i'm sure the devs are working on something, but just that i can't see that something. We need something 'real' at some point to get more adoption, new users etc..

EDIT: we all know what i mean. no need to get caught inside individual words.

Thing is we are all aware of that. But how do you think a new user feels when he gets here an sees those posts?

It seems to me that while us insiders may understand your meaning, the new guy on this thread may perceive your comments as an indication that development is dead. And that sure as hell won't help adoption. Shouldn't you maybe rethink your strategy?

I finally had some time to try the new database, it's great thanks!  Smiley
Seems like the wallet refresh is also much faster, or is it just my imagination?
Do I still need to keep blockchain.bin?
Wish I had some cash to buy more XMR, but I'm already all in..

Not if you were short on memory before!

Regarding any concerns about my strategy: check out my signature  Grin

Just stating the obvious : the situation is highly 'unique' even in cryptospace.
Like i said before i'm continuing to buy & hold. this should make any misunderstandings clear about where i stand with this coin and about my long term strategies.
Again : ui better rock n roll devs!  Roll Eyes it's been a long wait.

Hello Everyone,

So I have a pool all setup - monerosprings.com

only one port setup:  akula.ddns.net:8080  for mining.  Nothing fancy right now, but working with one other web developer to really jazz it up. All files up-to-date.
I'm testing the server and was wondering if any of you would be so kind as to spread some hash to me so that I can stress test the server.

Thank you!!!

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's.
This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

I went to the monero.cc site and didn't see the DB function. How do I go from loading the entire blockchain each time to using the DB? My laptop has major memory problems with the chain right now.

I am very much looking forward to M3 #18. Especially keen to see the (lower) per-kb transaction fees, as this should encourage greater trading volume/liquidity.

Further news on LMDB progress would be a bonus.  Smiley

The DB works, you can compile the branch and play with it. I'm pretty sure the one below is the correct branch (I haven't been working personally on it).

Thank you! I'll probably wait until it's added to the main project then. I'm not smart enough to go through the code and detect any problems (IE trojans).

+1 i'd rather wait for devs to lay out the foundation properly and then move on to front-end stuff... i'd pick a delicious candy with unassuming wrap rather than a fancy wrapped candy that tastes like shit... most of the pump and dump alts are that, cool and dandy on outside but full of shit inside... of course most may not see monero that way in the beginning but will eventually but by then they have to pay a higher ticket price to get on board...

Yeah, so i keep reading..soon soon..  but nothing, yet.

Has anyone here either had the thought to do, or has accomplished steganographic wallet files?

If it makes you feel any better I can tell you that tacotime wouldn't point you to a trojan repo and tewinget officially works for the project (he has even appeared in the developer video conferences!). Both tacotime and I are official core team members as can be confirmed by visiting the OP of this thread. Smart to be cautious here though.

In any case, if you aren't comfortable building stuff yourself and dealing with any issues that arise it is best to wait for a later version of the database code after all.
