Hey ya'll. My name's Shane.

I'm just now getting started with mining Monero; I followed this guide (https://99bitcoins.com/how-to-mine-monero-beginners-guide-mining/) to a T, but am having one, I believe, minor issue that I would like to get resolved with the help of you great folks.

So obviously, I created the account with Minergate and downloaded their recommended "kit" for me. The Windows app crashes on opening, but from what I've read, that doesn't seem to be a problem--I should still be able to mine using the following steps in the tutorial, and still be able to check my "earnings" on the Minergate website. (If I am wrong about this, please let me know.)

I then went to this page (https://minergate.com/altminers/claymore-gpu) and downloaded the applicable Miner (the "XMR" one, 2nd from the top), which I was told to paste into the folder of the Claymore miner, and open the mining app by clicking it.

Continuing on, I went to the Mega website and downloaded the ZIP files for the various miners. I imagine using the newest version is the best, so I have the "Claymore CryptoNote AMD GPU Miner v11.0 - POOL" prioritized. I do have one AMD card available.

So, after pasting the .bat file from two paragraphs above into the folder the miner is in, I opened the miner by clicking the .bat file. It opens fine, and gives me the specifications, etc., but then it says that I have to input one valid mining pol in the -xpool (config?) file.

From the tutorial I linked above, the pool should have been specified by the .bat file. Regardless, I went ahead and copied the address into the config file, but still, to no avail. I've tried a few different pool address (valid ones, at that), yet it's still giving me the same error message: something along the lines of, "you have to enter a valid pool address in the -xpool line."

Did I screw up somewhere? What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance. I greatly appreciate it.
-Shane

why only this?
rx 480 and 470  4gb and 8gb sctock, no mod. problem?

That's how fast unmodified cards go.

New version is working beautifully with my pitifully old HD7950 cards. Averaging something in the region of 500 H/s per card. Nice work Claymore  Smiley

Have a look at the first page in this thread there are a couple of examples for the *.bat file which might help. I'm not sure but the Minergate setting may be for an older version of this miner.
I'd use one of the pools in the given examples (such as Mining Pool Hub - good support) rather than Minergate as it's had some bad press over it's actual hashrates versus what you get.

I am seeing a nearly 10% jump in hash rate on my RX 570 rigs for version 11 compared to version 10.  Not sure about power usage but I don't think it changed much if at all (and who cares for that kind of jump in hash rate).  Now to see if that actually translates to hash rate gain at the pool.

Anyone else seeing this kind of improvement with version 11?

-------
Thanks for your feedback. I took your advice and just got rid of anything Minergate altogether and being using Mining Pool Hub. I'm getting closer!

So, now I'm at the point where I'm connected to the pool and new jobs are coming in. The miner acknowledges my card (Processor: AMD A6-5400K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 3600 Mhz, 1 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)), yet the error messages, "No ASM Binary found for GPU 0," and "OpenCL Error 0 #101/101A: Cannot create GPU memory buffer." And I have no hash rate at all.

http://prntscr.com/hrtp6v

I've increased my virtual memory to 16GB and, from my research today, my AMD processor should work just fine. I saw a recommendation to download/install Catalyst v15.12 as a possible solution.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

^^^  Claymore makes a CryptoNote CPU miner.

Thank you for that information. While I'm getting the GPU miner figured out, I went ahead and setup the CPU miner. It is working, but all I have to do now is figure out how to increase the hash rate. I'm maxing out at about 32 h/s now.

Hi, I tried both Claymore's CN (I mean 10.2 and 11).
I always get a Seg Fault error.
Here below the output.
Any suggestion?
I have a (single) radeon 580.
Thanks!
Gaetano

I've been using claymore v11 for around one day, and yes it seems there's hashrate increase - judging from the miner info.
However, I've been keeping an eye on actual statistics of the pool I'm mining on - and it looks like hashrate is actually quite lower.

To give an example - 2 of my GPUs (RX 570 btw) are mining with claymore v9.7 with 1650 H/s total on average (stat from the miner) - pool statistics are similar.
Another 2 GPUs are mining with claymore v11 with 1830 H/s (same pool, BIOS, OC settings).
However, if I bluntly compare average shares per hour ratio (I know the difficulties can differ though), I get around 375 for BOTH sets of GPUs on v9.7 and v11.

I'm starting to get suspicious (and a bit paranoid) about v11.

Hello,

I am facing a issue.

My rig is crashing 1 time per day, and I don't know why.

It isn't displaying that a GPU hang.

All GPU's are stopped, except the GPU 2 who's fan is turning (a little fast for me) and it seems it's the only one who is drawing power from the wall.

Hi, I tried both Claymore's CN (I mean 10.2 and 11).
I always get a Seg Fault error.
Here below the output.
Any suggestion?
I have a (single) radeon 580.
Thanks!
Gaetano

^^^  Claymore makes a CryptoNote CPU miner.

Thank you for that information. While I'm getting the GPU miner figured out, I went ahead and setup the CPU miner. It is working, but all I have to do now is figure out how to increase the hash rate. I'm maxing out at about 32 h/s now.

32 H/s is about right for a single CPU core. You don't have a GPU BTW, that's integrated video you're seeing.

I just had all my miners crash simultaneously, here's a screen cap from one miner:

Setting a failover pool doesn't work anymore, they all seg fault!!.

Claymore dude if you could fix this... or give NH a ring and tell them they're sending a kill signal to your miners right after payment processing.

Same for me!

I'am using:

6 * hd 7790 with version 9.7 and hashrate at miner site is the same on pool site!
6 * rx 460 with version 10.2 and hashrate at miner site is the same on pool site!
4 * hd 7850 with version 9.7 and hashrate at miner site is the same on pool site! (can not use 10.2 too much miscalculated)
2 * hd 7850 + 2 * R9 270 with version 9.7 and hashrate at miner site is the same on pool site! (can not use 10.2 too much miscalculated)

i changed the rx 460 the hd 7850 and the r9 270 to version 11.0 and now
for all these three rigs the hashrate is 5 % better at miners site but round about 10% lower at pool site ( i tested two pools)

so i switched back !

I'm using Gigabyte Aorus RX580's and just can't get past 831 H/s per card.

This is my first rig and the riser cards didn't turn up (thanks Amazon!!) so I can only run one card at a time at the moment plugged directly in to the mobo.  Can the hash rates increase once I have them attached via the riser cards?

I realise now these were not the best choice of RX580s out there but is anyone else with an Aorus seeing better results?

I tried a lot of options, but I cant achieve more than 860h, maybe it's because of memory hynix (with samsung memory peoples report 1000h+), I'll have to go back to SG miner. RX 580 8gb with Hynix have 970h. Cry Cry Cry
The same situation, but i cant even reach 860 h/s.
Recently i bought 5 Asus Dual OC RX 580 8gb with hynix memory. I flashed it with uber mix straps, in stock it showed 570 h/s, after flashing - 772 h/s. Changing cclock and mclock hash only a slight effect. With cclock 1100 it shows 760 h/s and with 1360 - 772 h/s. Exactly the same situation with mclock. MSI Afterburner and wattman show that clocks change correctly. I also tried to change -dmem and -h, -dmem 0 decreases hashrate to 550 h/s, changing -h has no effect. MB - BIOSTAR TB250-BTC.
I also have another 1 rig that runs 3 Asus Dual OC rx 580 8gb with samsung memory and 2 asus dual oc rx 580 4gb with elpida memory.
I was able to get stable 1020 hashes with 8gb version (cclock 1330, mclock 2000) with samsung memory and 925 hashes with 4gb version with elpida memory. MB - AsRock Z170 Extreme 3.
I tried differrent miners with different settings - no effect, the hashrate even lower.
Mb smb can help me with an advice?

I've read so much advice in the last few days and it just seems like the Hynix memory is inferior to the Samsung.  If you also have an inferior make of card (I've now realised that the Gigabyte RX580's I have are not the best) AND Hynix memory, you're pretty much stuffed.

^^^ Some users claim sgminer-gm can put a Hynix card over 1k, I think wolf claims 1.2k but he's a special case. I recommend the MSI Armor RX580-8GB (Samsung) for use with Claymore's miner, you'll do 1k no problem with the ubermix straps and it's also the cheapest card to buy.

Carocus might want to try this Hynix strap, it's faster than the 1500 strap and he should be able to get 900+ H/s on that Gigabyte.
