Hey devs / proficient ppl out there:

Just wanted to share this here instead on the hyperloan feed.

Yesterday i was showing HYP to a customer/friend at the store. He got interested when saw the HYP rains in IRC, the 750% stake, etc... Usual "selling points" until you get the coin and realize that a big part of that 750 is meant to be spent on others to spread the goodness and awareness. Onto the matter:

"Its hard to set up?"
"Oh no, let me show you. You go here, you download this and..."
Stuck.
As when i installed my wallet, the wallet didnt sync. I had to go to console, addnode, search on the block explorer for IPs, syncro, etc. I tried turn off and re-open, ofc.

By that time, he lost interest. I know, small attention span, but he is not veteran in crypto, so his best feature until today is to download blockchain app and using it.

What i mean is that we need to close that problem asap. The critical mass adopters are easygoing people. And nowadays if something doesnt work at once on your cellphone/ipad/PC, you delete it insta.

I will try again tomorrow as he is coming back :-) I will tease with some HYP so eventually he will download it . muhahaha xDD

I agree that this should be automatic. Our DNS seeding is not working properly. I can't quite put my finger on why. For now I will just hard code in some nodes to be added on startup automatically.

Finally (after 3 days running my wallet continuously) had my next stake and noticed that it did not split,
even though the size of the output was 2810 and the stake amount was 570 (original input 2240).
Are we sure that the anti-split rule is working correctly? It seems as if it is reversed
(small blocks do split, large blocks don't).

Anybody else having issues with Staking?
Almost half my wallet (9 inputs, most around 1500 in size) is mature, one input is now 28 days old but since 2.5 days nothing has staked.
The wallet is telling me every day that it should take only a few hours until the next stake can be expected, but it has been some time.
I don't see a crazy diff - only 1.5 which I seem to remember is rather stable now. Don't know why it is not staking other than no luck.
What you experiencing is the effect of anti inflation measures kicking in.

-high diff, more time it takes to stake.
-randomness, decrease change of staking, think lottery here, more stacks=tickets greater change of winning.
-max reward of 1000 HYP.
-max blocks per day that can be minted by network, 1 block per minute.
-max coin age = max weight = more time/difficult to "win" your reward.

All though HYP uses 750% as basic number to calculate interest, once max reward is reached 0% will be calculated.
Every day that you do not stake means loss of interest getting paid, excluding compound interest.
When you have to wait 2x more to have your stack staking, and max reward already reached at 1st day of possible payout, you will effectively get some 350% paid !
In time effective interest will go down even more, don't be surprised a lot more.
Sounds bad right ?
But its good since it brings back effective interest into "normal" ranges and inflation as well.
Very important to have low inflation, low inflation means better price for your HYP.
People who are spreading FUD ( mostly POW hard liners ) about high POS coins ignore that or simply are to stupid to understand.

Not in my case (yet).
I have deliberately chosen for a somewhat smaller input size (also, I was not always willing to destroy the age of split blocks
when they were generated almost a day before I checked) so most my blocks are in the 1000-2000 range and do not yet reach
the cap (1000 HYP) although it does take them longer before they stake than in the beginning, when almost everything staked
around 9 days age. The only cap that I am experiencing is one smaller block of 600 that is nearing the 30 days cap, after which it
might stop gaining reward if it does not stake in the coming 2 days, we'll see. So, I am still getting very close to 750% only the
blocks take a little longer to stake, this last one was pretty big and still took more than 12 days.

Concerning the Hyperstake explorer on hyp.cryptocoinexplorer.com

It looks like the last patch introduced a bug in the orphan detection routine that would not have been caught until the routine was called in actual online use.

I will be patching all the explorers this weekend as each one will require some down time to patch and partially rebuild the database.

Hello fellow Hypsters. I have created an address on the Richlist named HyperCheckFund. This is for checkpoints16 who is in school now and is using a computer on loan. This fund serves to buy him a new computer once he has to turn the one he has now back in. The address is on the Richlist as posting here will cause issues. Anyway if you would like to donate to this fund, please do. I will be in charge of this and if others are in need of items then maybe we can help them out as well. Any questions please PM me or email at marc.fortenberry@yahoo.com.

I make use of PC's from recycle centers or straight out of a dumpster.
Costs 0 USD, dumpsters located in business/industry are great sources since companys often upgrade well within 5 years or less...

OK, thanks for te efforts!
I will see if after the weekend, the missing block has returned to the explorer - it is now reporting a 503 page when requesting that block.

What I wrote was simply an explanation how HYP pos scheme works and what the effect of it will have on staking/reward in the near future.
As posted earlier, comparing POS with POW, right now we are in stage 1, meaning max rewards.
So most of us are currently in the clear as such and we do pretty much the same thing I guess, increasing stack size and adding stacks, until an optimum has been reached.
So far I only had 1 stack being capped, a stack that got stuck, just as others have stacks that are stuck at times.
Reason is of course randomness.

I think it was Bio who compared this process of optimising with gardening.
In line with this happy gardening and don't forget to talk to your plants !

First round of Hyperlan, there was one nominee
Second round of Hyperlan, there was two nominees
Third round of Hyperloan, there will be three nominees
I am not sure yet, but fourth round of Hyperloan might have four nominees (and that will be the maximum - fifth week will still have four nominees, except by Hyperloan stacking).
